first of all beautiful army i love the colours it all looks so well blended and smooth, best death guard army i have seen to be honest.

secondly could you give me a tutorial for the metal areas which look very rusted and worn like the plasma gun ?

thanks very much and once agagin amazing work so far keep it comeing :)

From one Nurgle fanatic to another, I have to say this is disgusting, and I mean that from the bottom of my rotted and decaying blood pump. Great job, Animerik, I love the grey color scheme. I must also say that, despite the fact I absolutely HATE Obliterators, yours are just inspiring. Between you and Dan the Daemon, I'm actually considering converting up some Oblits. Keep up the art, and may the Lord of Decay bless your paint brush seven fold!

plague bringer:Thank you so much! The metallic areas are painted

Undercoat: black

Basecoat: Boltgun / tin bits 50/50

coat 1: just brush over with boltgun and try to keep some of the basecoat visible

coat 2: same procidure but lighter with chainmai

wash 1: Badab black a bit thinned

wash 2: Devlan mud a bit thinned

wash 3: I use tamiyan wheatering masters kit C and use the orange rust mixed with water but blazing orange or such will work, just remember alot of water

Coat 3: Brush carfully over with chainmai

Highlight: just the edges with mithril if it is needed.

Extra stuff: The coils on plasma guns are painted (tin bitz->brazen brass-> mithril-> wash with VMC jade green ->wash with VGC verdigris glaze->rehighlight mithril. The muzzle of flamers/meltas/plasmas are just washed with chestunut ink concentrate on the end of the muzzle. then some Tamyian weathering master kit B soot bushed on (chaos black will do)

Hope that helps :tu:

DuskRaider:Thank you brother in rot, may his rotte holyness always rain puss upon you. I always disliked the minis for the oblits, the artwork however was awsome so I just took my chances. Dan the deamon is one crazy converter hat´s of to that man. I'm looking forward to see your oblit brother. Thanks for the comment

Bomma:Thanks

Well here we go again. Have been in a painting frenzy latley even if studies are real hectic. Well here is a pic of the nearly finishied squad. Details (horns eyes etc.) still to do an touch ups as well as bases. I have also been workin on a symbol for the army and I have decided to go with the three eyed skulle shown on a pad in the pic, let me know what you think of it.

Next a close up on the finished champ for my next squad, only some hours of paint loving to go.

Cheers and thanks for looking

looking very nice as ussual

i think what would be really cool is if you made your own typhus like made a better looking one that would be very sweet considering your green stuff skills are that good or some themed terrain would look lush ?

The scratch building and sculpting are excellent, the weathering effects are very realistic and the whole army seems to be well envisioned. I've seen a lot of Death Guard/Nurgle conversions which seem to use the degraded and corrupted nature of such characters to do a rather lazy job but these really are exceptionally good. Kudos to you sir :(

++UPDATE++

So now the squad is finished, I also finished the icon bearer I started some weeks ago.

The pic is a bit washed out.. my camera and I do not get along far to great...

And some overall pics (with horrible flash) of my DG horde so far

No work on the BD I´m sorry to say. Father nurgle blessed me with a nice cold that keep me in bed most of the weekend. Well started to recover yesterday and realized that I was out of gs and since I was far to lazy to go and buy some I started another rhino instead. The painjob is not completed, still alot of details and stuff like that to work with. There is not that much convertion on the rhino but I like it pretty much so far.

So Nihm has Nurgle officially been declared the best, at least at producing good looking models and armies? I seem to recall a Nurgle force winning Call of Chaos III...

I'm branching out into some undivided and eventually maybe some CSM worshipping the other gods, but I also plan to do a Servants of Decay rebel list from Imperial Armour 7 which I'm still not sure if I can post about here...

If I put a plaguemarine in every picture as an observer would that make it OK? :-D

Good work on this another mighty Nurgle force. Ultimately we will prevail, everything dies, even your corpse emperor...

Brother Nihm:hmm might just do that. Thanks for the C&C and the information ^^

Muskie:Huh?

Antman677:Thanks, the eyes are painted:

Basecoat: Blazing orange

controlled wash: Ogryn flesh (or even better orange ink)

Highlight: Blazing orange

Highlight fiery orange

highlight fiery orange+ white very small dot in the middle of the eye

The tecnique used for the glow is this:

Mine is just not as well done

cheers thanks for looking

  • 2 weeks later...

++UPDATE++

Well no big update this time I'm sorry to say. Studies as usual are taking up most of my time. However I aquired some more GS and work is once again resumed so not far to long until it is finished.

I'm trying to get back into gamin and I heard that DPs are a must have so I decided to take a old DP I converted eons ago and stripped it and now re converted it to a 40k DP. This is the work so far .pics are not the best but hope they will do

The helm is inspired by The maruder lord produced by Avatars of war (great company btw). I did in the end only go for one shoulder pad as I think that the naked arm provides the piece with a nice contrast.

Still alot more work to do on this one. I'm also going with wings on the prince and decided to go for blight drone styled ones :) we will see how good it turns out and then decide if I will go with them or not.

C&C welcome and thanks for looking
