Angelus Class Rhino - Mark X armour upgrade.

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm currently working on the plans and templates for a Rhino conversion I will be doing, but alas I haven't got access to a Rhino right now, so I was wondering if someone here might be kind enough to post the length and height of a Rhino from front to back and from the bottom of the tracks to the top of the exhaust pipes.

Thanks!

EDIT!

Changed the topic from being a measurement question to being about the Mk X armour upgrade for the Rhino, making it what I've dubbed the Angelus Class Rhino.

Look further down the thread for the Angelus.

this is actually againt board rules iirc as even the dimension (especailly for use in a template) are considered IP

though im sure a mod will sort this if it is out of bounds

millest

Templates are OK as long as they are for his own use. Giving measurements is cool (this sounded a lot better in my head  ).

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Measurements aren't IP as you cant copyright five by twelve cm - it doesn't give the look of a rhino, just a rectangle. - And I wont be building a Rhino, I will be making an add on to a Rhino to make it look a bit different.

Thanks again!

whats the add on for the rhino gonna be?
I will try to make a new side and top to the Rhino, making it look more like a small Land Raider'ish vehicle.

It is based on an image I saw on the net around a year ago and its been floating around in my head since then. - Figured I would try to get it done before I play in Medusa V to give my army more of the theme and feel I want for it (a bit technologically different - high-tech).

The add-on will probably count as extra armour.

Thanks again for all your help! :P

when ready your gonna have to show us - can't wait to see it

also i think i remeber one of the imperial armour books having scalled drawings in them and also the new codex books have side on drawings you could work from as a reference - don't want to breach ip here!

mods frag me if i have!

mmmm... my rhino is slightly larger than that.

The size of the Rhino doesn't matter. It is how you rush it that counts ;)

and Chaptermaster Graymantle:

do you happen to have the picture that inspired you handy?

I am getting very curious as to the details of your plans.

Cheers

It is based on an image I saw way back of a Rhino conversion I believe was called the Squat Rhino.

It at least in my mind looks more high-tech than the regular Rhino and as such it fits my Chapter quite well.

I will use it as an Extra Armour upgrade.

Unfortunatly I dont know who made the original, but all honour goes out to the original designer; all I've really done is copy the design from the image and updated it for the Mk II Rhino.

Here is a rough of what it will look like:

Work in progress!

That looks freakin' cool :)

1 minor quib though:

You would do well to remove the "mesh" areas on the front and rear portions of the sides though, as this is unmistakably reminiscent of the mk1 rhino. How about recreating the layered armour patterns of the mk2 instead?

I CANT wait to see some WIP shots

EDIT:

Oh, and put some smokestacks in the rear somehow to tie in with the dread & LR look. It would probably be hard if you intend to stick an access ramp in the back, but that aside, rear smokestacks would look awesome.

cheers

I will try it out with the MkII plates instead of the mesh areas, however I kinda like the mesh.

I feel it adds detail and character to the new design as well as making it distinctly different from the regular Rhino.

I will keep the rear access hatch, so there wont be a rear engine or smokestacks. - It would look cool though, but seeing as how I will use this as a beefed up Extra Armoured Rhino, I don't see it happening :(

from the concept photo i can say wow that smokes!

however start building the tank so we can all see how good it will be!

Alas I am multitasking on 19 different projects right now and I'm trying to get most of them done before Medusa V begins, in addition to that there's my job and other RL concerns, so it will be a while before I get around to modeling it, but maybe on Monday.

Sooo, I'm afraid your going to have to be patient ;)

Looks good so far, Cant wait to see the idea fleshed out. Hows the top of the rhino gonna look?
I'm not entirely sure how the top will look yet as the original is kinda bland on the top.

I will probably make it a bit different from the original, adding in more details; then again I might keep it rather straight. - What I do know is that I will try to tool it extra for city fights seeing as how there will be a lot of that at Medusa V.

Thanks for your replies, your suggestions and your positive feedback, its really appreciated! ;)
