Inquisitor Hexx
I needed something cool to add some extra pop to my replica bolt pistol. I popped on the "Ultramarines" movie while pondering this dilemma and then I saw the bolt shells and knew what I must do! http://forgeright.com/pics/boltshells/bolt_shells_bordered.jpg I added a new blog post describing the build process if anyone is interested. You can read about it here - Steamtech 1876 Here's a picture with a ruler for scale http://forgeright.com/pics/boltshells/bolt_shells_scale2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244357-real-bolter-ammunition/ Share on other sites
Lestat
Pretty time consuming using balsa wood and soaking it to get it to bend. I would have been tempted to use pvc tubing and built it up with pieces of plasticard. They look damn good though! Inquisitor Hexx
That was my plan too, but then I ran out of plasticard ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244357-real-bolter-ammunition/#findComment-2954113 Share on other sites

Brother-Captain Sharp
These look great! Very nicely done on the details. I also like the sizing. Those are weighty shells indeed. Slight tangent: I handled a real bolt shell today. I work in an engraving store and a guy brought in 3 20mm (~.75 caliber) casings ejected from the gun of his F-15. It's not a coke can (as some bolter shells are posited as), but you still wouldn't want to be hit by it and then have it also explode. Inquisitor Hexx
Thanks all! I work in an engraving store and a guy brought in 3 20mm (~.75 caliber) casings ejected from the gun of his F-15. It's not a coke can (as some bolter shells are posited as), but you still wouldn't want to be hit by it and then have it also explode. I can assure you I don't want to be hit by any exploding bullet regardless of size! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/244357-real-bolter-ammunition/#findComment-2955323 Share on other sites
