One hundred and twenty one standard days.
Chaplain Tabbris knelt in the cloister. Deep inside the bowels of the massive Battle Barge Purgator was the Master of Sanctity’s private sanctuary. Lit only by a single electrolumen and filled with the aroma of smoldering censers, this holy room had been Tabbris’ home for 121 days. The warp storm had appeared out of the void, arcane lightning disrupting the ancient cogitators and monitoring servitors. A tongue of warp flame had lashed out at the venerable ship, burning a wretched scar across her sacred hull. His mind open to the ebb and flow of the infinite warp, the navigator was helpless. Paralyzed by the sudden onslaught of the storm, he could only scream, as the warp flame engulfed his chamber vaporizing him instantly. As he died, so did any chance the Purgator had of astral navigation as the fury of the storm sucked her directly into the warp. As the damage was being evaluated, Chaplain Tabbris left the bridge and followed the dimly lit corridors of the ship to his quarters. He paused, left terse instructions on a data slate, entered the cloister and sealed the door. He was not to be disturbed. No food or drink of any kind was to be delivered. Faith would sustain him. The door to the cloister would only be opened when the ship re-entered real space. One hundred and twenty one standard days. Lord Inquisitor Impetro Respondi spun the locking ring on the heavy bulkhead door. With a heavy groan the door swung open, shining light piercing the gloom inside the shadowy cloister. There knelt the hulking form of the Master of Sanctity. Light played on the Holy Scriptures etched into his glossy black power armor. Tabbris finished a stanza of the Catechism of Faith and raised his head. “Your prayers have been answered, Honored Chaplain. We have returned to Real-Space.” -- Story by Joker Aaaaand we're back! Thanks to everyone who has hung in there the past 100+ days of being lost in the warp. We are sure there have been some casualties, but as the B&C enters it sixth year on the web we will recover! For those that don't know, the B&C server suffered a catastrophic melt down on Dec. 13th 2005. This wiped out the board AND our backups. We had to go to an old offsite backup up to recover as best as possible...this was from Sept. 7th 2005. SADLY THIS MEANS ANYONE WHO REGISTERED AFTER SEPT 7th 2005 WILL HAVE TO REREGISTER. The new server was rebuilt and ready to go the first week of January (we were still getting 8k hits to the server even after 3 months of being down). Unfortunately a configuration issue lead to the software not being able to be installed. The back and forth with the software folks resulted in 3 months of downtime until finally...this past weekend things were all good to go and we started reskinning. Good news is we now have TWO servers. One for the board (and our future plans) and one for backups. This will be in addition to monthly offsite back ups...just in case something like this should happen again. Now the board isn't what we would cal 100% finish. There are still a few cosmetic issues to be dealt with, but for the most part IE and Fx users should see home like normal. The cosmetic changes will take place over the next week or two (time permiting). They don't really interfere with function so we aren't to concerned about getting them fixed immediately. We figure you'd rather post than wait a few more days just cause a button is blue instead of red somewhere. First off I'd like to give a big thanks to the following message boards: DaWaaaagh Dakka Dakka The Eternity Gate for allowing the "What has happened to the B&C" threads to stay up so we could keep people up to speed on what was going on! We are in your debt. Another big thank you goes out to: JeanFrancois, Nite_Moogle and Kaptun Krum for helping with one last CSS snag over the past two days. and also to: MadScuzzy for the kick ass "Resurrection" banner you see at the top of the page! Finally a big thanks to everyone who has held in there over the down time and is visiting the board today and in the future! Big plans in the works for BnC over the next year (our 6th!). No longer will the BnC be a simple forum. The plan is to turn this into a massive resource site for Marine players everywhere. Websites like LiberAstartes and The Pain Glove will be absorbed into the site proper. Links to GW Marine info and products will be provided (including product reviews). Areas for you to submit articles relating to Power Armor will be made. More contests. Blog groups (such as restarting the Badab War project and beginning one for Medusa V). Expanding the BnC store. All kinds of stuff to continue to make this the place you want to be! Other changes are going to include some forum options (no not Xenos and the like) but some forum will merge. Others will be expanded in scope or be new all together. Obviously none of this will happen over night but as we move towards each goal we will try to keep you up to date.
