How everone getting on with 5th ed leding up to the GT.

Had a fair share of up & down but main thing to learn from each game ;) Very happy with how I am doing toward orks so far.

Model wise, replaceing a few models here & there due to new conversion/idea but almost there (as said need to get ready for 40k radio in Edinbrugh 20th Sept).

Look like my friends will be taken Raven Wing, other went from Tau to Chaos now & other one still chosen.

Can't wait for the event, be a good laught.

Agreed, that's what I'm going for.

To be honest, I am a little concerned about this GT, as I haven't lost a game for 5th edition and I'm worried about not being tested! :)

So far I have faced Black Templars, Tau and SOB with lots of inducted Guardsmen. Just prior to 5th edition I faced Daemons too, which was an eye opener, but ultimately eased my fears of them.

Oh well, maybe I just learnt my lessons from last years GT!

Friday? What, at the store? I'd prefer tuesdays gaming night if that's ok? If you can't manage the Tuesday I am sure I can manage something.

And given the choice, I will like to face Orks! Never faced them since 2nd edition and I am a little aprenhensive about them, so it would be good to get at least one game against them under my belt.

1,500pts.

Cheers.

Ah, I was under the impression you were local to me! I cannot make Warhammer world, at all. I live in the South, in a town called Andover (nearish to Stone Henge).

Thanks for the offer mind.

Unless I'm being dead thick and you are refering to the Friday before the GT, in which case I will take you up on your offer!

I'll be in nottingham at around 3pm roughly (allowing for the M1 and other traffic)

I can be thick sometimes eh?

In that case I will be happy to meet you there for a game! Nearer the time I will PM you (and anyone else who wants it) my mobile number to arrange a meet up.

Orks then, oooh, that will be a baptism by fire.

Hi Guys,

Update from me. I'm going to Heat 2, and i'm ticket number 007 (Bond... Levett Bond.)

I'll be taking Eldar to Heat 2 now instead of the new marines, purely as I'm expecting the majority of players will be taking the new codex.

Have we confirmed now what the team name is?

Yes mate, it is now Legio Bolter & Chainsword, by virtue of no other suggestions or opinions!

Here, I got something to ask you Levett regarding your list; what sort of number count can I expect the herectical Eldar to bring to the table? I noticed many Eldar players from 40Konline have built lists that have only 3 or so Troops choices that are not particularly big.

I suppose it is a case of not needing that many.

Generally most Eldar players will aim to stick Avengers in Wave Serpents and use the more specialised units to kill your troop choices.

Expect around 25 troops, and around 15 or so elites in a mech eldar list.

The key things to watch out for will be sneaky critters like Yriel. Whilst he may only be T3, he can kill any infantry model in the game with the same ease, regardless of toughness or amount of attacks etc. Add to the mix that in combat he'll tear apart any tank, and can also take them on from 12" away, and you've got a big problem.

If you like, feel free to add me to msn; levett01@hotmail.com.

I'm more than willing to help anyone or lend advice.

The other way an Eldar army could go is with them using their fast troops choices to fill out the list and go all Jetbike.

I've seen it used by someone who knew how to use it and it was VERY devestating.

The List was made up of 5 Guardian Jetbike squads with Warlocks, 2 Shining Spear units, 1 Aurtarch, 1 Farseer & a Brightlance armed Vyper

Any chance of you guys doing me a favour and checking out the Chaos army list page for my thread on making a Chaos army out of what i have? I don't know how to put a link on here sorry but it's highlighted with a chaos star.

As the thread says i'm having a cash flow problem so have to make a GT army out of what units i have to hand. Theres a list of stuff i have on the thread. I'm not getting many replies and thought you all may help-

bear in mind, clown suit or not, i AM a member of Legio Bolter & Chainsword, would'nt want to let the team down.

I've sort of settled on a Doublewing army for heat 2. Sammael leading them but with three squads of terminators backing up the bikes. (Not a lot of models but more than I had last year.)

I'm in serious need of some practice games against marine, chaos marine, eldar and tau armies though. Rather oddly I've played an awful lot of games against daemons recently. They are much nastier in 5th edition. Run and the changes to grenades have really helped them. As has the slightly more forgiving deep strike rules.

Glad you where able to sort an army Darkangeldentist, i look forward to seeing it. I'd like to see your list as i'm currious about Dark Angels at a GT. I was originaly taking Guardians of the Covenant right up until Dark Knight came out which swayed me to take Clowns!!

You planing on being apart of our heat 2 Legio Bolter & Chainsword team?

Tell me about it Darkangeldentist. Fought Daemons for the first time last week which seen me doing alright... then the big stuff came. Been only army to wipe me out so far in 5th Ed (rest down to objects) & the oppent a really good player to boot, his daemon not loss a single game yet.

For me I not fought Necron under 5th Ed, same with Nids. But fought a lot Marines & Orks with a bit of Eldar in there as well.

The current list is made up of the following.

Sammael on jetbike.

Ravenwing attack squadron with 6 bikes including sergeant with powersword, apothecary with meltagun, flamer and attack bike with multi-melta.

Ravenwing attack squadron with 6 bikes including sergeant with powersword, meltagun, flamer and attack bike with multi-melta.

Deathwing terminator squad with heavy flamer, 1 pair of lightning claws, 1 chainfist.

Deathwing terminator squad with heavy flamer, 1 pair of lightning claws

Deathwing terminator squad with clycone missile launcher, 3 pairs of lightning claws, 2 thunder hammer and storm shields.

It's done ok but has started to struggle more due to a run of poor dice and opponents getting more familiar with it. Still unbeaten so it not a bad list. I just wonder whether it'll come unstuck at on the day. Hence my need for more games with it.

Competitvely I think Ravenwing are still about as good as you could want. They aren't the easiest army to use but once you get used to them they really are incredibly difficult to beat.

I have conflicting loyalties as far as teams are concerned. Recently I've been involved with setting up a local club and we're going up as a group of 6 of us. The Exeter Inquisition as it's been affectionatly dubbed. However the Legio bolter and chainsword is a good alternative. Anything to douse the crowding from the Flame-on lot and Spainish contingent. (All nice people but I get un-nerved seeing all those red T-shirts.)
