Speaking of which, as soon as I posted them last night I went on eBay and found more Soulreaper Cannons on the cheap, so I'll eventually replace the Heavy Bolters. I'm switching between the last of my vow and the new bases right now, I keep experimenting with them and I think I found the scheme I want that will both contrast and compliment the Word Bearers. Now that I have my recipe down for them, they should go much faster. Unfortunately, this has all been to the detriment of my Delegatus and Terminators. DuskRaider Posted April 10, 2017 Author Share Posted April 10, 2017 Weekly update... The Seeker Squad models are done. I'm not calling this vow 100% complete until the bases are also finished and these guys are firmly planted on then, which should be either tomorrow or the next day. I went very dark and monochrome with this squad. Instead of the usual Carrosburg Crimson wash on the red, I opted for Nuln Oil to make even the base coloration darker than normal. I didn't add any Runefang Steel highlights to the Leadbelcher trim like I usually do, and even the Legion icon is grey and silver instead of the normal papyrus and flame to insure that there wold be no gleam off of any steel to betray their position. This not only helps them in lowlight to dark conditions, but it also makes their lenses pop (which I assume would be the last thing their designated target would see). I really enjoyed painting these guys, even on a limited palette. The use of the TS parts works quite well with the pantheistic/primordial focus I have always liked about the Word Bearers. I look forward to seeing more. I tried to ensure the bases would contrast the Word Bearers but also compliment their scheme and I think I found a good compromise. The camera filters out a lot of the coloration on the bases, unfortunately, because IRL they have a lot of blue-gray swirl in them. I actually surprised myself, they look pretty close to natural stone. The warband will be led by what is my Delegatus, only he will be much, much different... it's funny what 10,000 years will do to a man. As you can see, the Cultists have been assembled but need some greenstuff work as well as some other stuff. I'm awaiting my Evil Craft order, which I thought would be appropriate for such a small army due to their truescale size (I want them to dwarf the humans that my friends and I will be fielding).
