Adeptus Arbites hint in White Dwarf

Imagine they'll be getting a Necromunda box and some WD-style rules for 40K use. I tend to think Arbites aren't really the right "scale" for 40K, as an organization, but it'd be fun to use them in smaller narrative missions and the like.

Given they have just released AoS rules for the warbands present in Shadespire, i would say this is very likely.

In this months White Dwarf, in the Temporal Distort feature on page 132, there is a paragraph that caught my eye:

".. the Adeptus Arbites haven't been seen around much lately, but with the likes of Genestealer Cults on the rise again, who knows when they might be back?"

Now, you could say that it's not much of rumour, but when you combine it with the rumour engine clue from the 26th September, the Eagle head, then it becomes a little more credible.

A Judge Dredd themed 40K army? Shut up and take my money.

Probably just Necromunda related. Still awesome tho. Judge Dredd here I come! :biggrin.:

Arbites seem likely for Necromunda. Cool if you could use them in a Guard army too though.

And Hi, first post on B&C :smile.:

Welcome to the B&C!

My first reaction to this rumor ( and it seems likely) was that makes sense for Necromunda, but not as a regular 40k army. Then I thought well... they have a Genestealer Cult Army so why not? They would have access to some Guard and Scions vehicles and flyers. That could work.

Of course with the introduction of an Arbites Army, the next logical expansion would be a Imperial Citizens Riot Army:dry.: ..... thoughts?.... There could be no end to expansions. Great, huh:facepalm:

Arbites have been described as having their own ships, armoured vehicles and heavy weaponry. They supplement the PDF and local law enforcement whilst also ensuring that the PDF and local law enforcement stick to Imperial Law - Pax Imperium.

If released for 40k I can see them being a similar size release to the Sisters Of Silence or the Custodes. I'd imagine them supporting an Inquisitor, Ministorum/Sisters Force or Imperial Guard. Possibly a Dual Kit building shotgun/boltgun armed Arbites and Baton/Riot Shield equipped Arbites.

Greetings

One of the roles of the arbites is to be the last abstion of Imperial presence on a world when everything else turns to horrific tentacles/zombies/genestealers/etc. Their bases are highly-defensible fortresses.

In many cases they are going to be the ones valiantly holding out for relief by imperial forces - or calling in exterminatus when all is lost.

For these reasons they could easily be justified as a minor force in 40k, especially if they have a base to hold out in. If you don't kill the arbites, Imperial vengeance could already be on its way...

Talons of the Emperor were an army (don't really understand their status in 8th now) and it was literally just Custodes and SoS.

GW really likes making models compatible for 40k to get people to buy stuff, so Arbites in 40k is like 80% likely IMO if it appears at all.

Like we need another model line vs updates to EXISTING armies, but hey, what do i know?

If GW keeps it a small line for Necromunda, then great, more factions for that specialist game but I think to expand it into a proper 40k army is silly, right around the same levels of custodes being stand alone capable in 40k.

If they do, I think it will be a Harlequin style release

- Arbites dual box set with ranged weapons/shield and maul

- Special Character

- Transport

- Possibly on bikes

New factions sell. I think that has been the big thing they learned from AoS, Genecults and such.

Do you really honestly believe GW will stop releasing new model lines? lol

While this is a very light teaser at best, I believe that if it were to occur it will pilot in Necromunda with a Chapter Approved or supplement to allow Arbites to be taken in other Imperium-Faction armies in 40k.  That's not to say it isn't possible as a full 40k release, OFC, but it makes more sense at the "skirmish" scale as a means to test the waters, as it were.

I expect GW to provide relatively recent models for eldar aspects, chaos undivided, orks, sisters of battle and not just imperium forces.

Everyone likes new stuff.

You expect a lot for something they haven't done in years. GW got better but whether they re-do an old range again is yet to be seen.

That'd be nice, but I have seen literally zero to indicate that's what they'll do. Codex: Craftworlds just passed, meaning the best window to update that army is gone.

But GW seems way more keen on new armies. Death Guard, Thousand Sons, SoS, Custodes, Deathwatch, Genestealer Cults...

Following that trend and Necromunda, it's almost reasonable to say Arbites are likely as an upcoming release.

I don't doubt it but as panzer pointed out New GW is still trail blazing how they plan to support 8th going forward. You could say I'm still hoping for some updates to existing ranges, all in all I'm frustrated for the fans of the armies being left at the wayside. To me it doesn't matter how new or powerful an armies rules are if the models look like poop. Rule of cool above all else.

how come everyone always wants to play the enforcers? More human kits is always nice though

Elites Are More Glamorous, in a hobby where the uber-trained-elite-marines-with-the-best-gear are by far the most popular army. People don't want to be the smelly, unwashed masses with poor gear and training.
