I have always wanted to get into BFG.

Since BFG is such a niche game should I just make a new BFG topic for painting and list ideas?  I've been busy, my first 3d printed Thousand Sons ships with pyramids are coming out soon :biggrin.: :biggrin.:

Soon I should hopefully have enough stuff for a few friends and I to play so I'd love to get the opinions of experienced players and maybe rekindle some interest in what is one of my favorite games. I adore the BFG setting and design aesthetics.

No, we don't need a single discussion for multiple topics about the game. In fact, this topic will probably be split into multiple topics. It's far better to have each discussion cover its own issue. As long as all topics about the Battlefleet Gothic game use the Battlefleet Gothic game tag, people can find them easily (by clicking on the tag).

If you are working on a fleet, go ahead and start a discussion for your fleet list. I can start one for my own fleet list (Imperium - I have a bunch of Imperial ships as well as several strike cruisers and two battle barges). Canadian_F_H can start a discussion for his army list, etc.

They days of GW's secrets leaked to blogs are kinda over, they now use the WC page for everything.  Not a peep about BFG but given their new direction we can assume the models will be 25% bigger, cost a LOT more, and be absurdly detailed to the point where transporting them is a real risk.

I need to finish my 3d printed Chaos ships.

I'm not surprised. It's not a GW supported game at the moment. That isn't a criteria, but I would assume it is directly related to the amount of traffic discussion of the game would generate. It would be nice, but we haven't had any real demand for a BFG section that I am aware of.

If I am mistaken I am sure I will be happily corrected.

I wonder how representative forums still are nowadays, the whole format of the forum has been kinda dying in the last couple of years (B&C had to include Xenos, Warseer is dead, Tactical Command and Specialist Games are mere shadows of what they used to be). So to see if something is alive I kinda look on social media. And despite not having any official support from GW, BFG seems to be doing pretty well there. I mean, it's more alive than lets say 40k RPG or Space Hulk.

When it comes to BFG, I sadly missed the boat (Har!) but I have always found the game interesting. The pc games have a wonderful atmosphere. They do a pretty good job of creating inspiration for the game. I do enjoy the Mechanic's fleets Wave Motion Guns Nova cannons to upset the opposing fleet.

Part of me really wished I'd jumped onboard BFG while I had the chance but that would probably have been yet another box taking up room in my house. I will need a second house at this rate. If they do re-release BFG and if they increase the scale I think I mayget a battleship or equivalent as a display piece.

Ye gods, increasing the scale on BFG would either require shrinking fleet sizes, or having people play on their driveway. I've got one of the old metal Battleships, and that thing is hefty enough to use as a chock for a car tire.

Edit:

Malika, are your Pre-Imperial 'Dark Age of Technology' ships still a thing?

Oh man, those ship designs bring back memories! That whole project had been put on hold a while back, was supposed to have those ships (and a game for them) produced by Troll Forged Miniatures, but with them gone the project kinda died. I do love the idea of reviving this project somehow (at least the ship designs), but time is a limited thing here. Especially since there also isn't a producer who is currently interested in casting them in resin and distributing them. Maybe I should put them on Shapeways or something...
