Mini Toy's n That

Thanks guys :D  I'm glad you like the pose on the Yellow Titan. Part of me thinks it'd just fall over lol.

For the Yellow Titan list I was thinking of going Urdesh as that best suits their dilapidated and war torn appearance and this for the start of the list...

Warlord, Macro Gatling Cannon, Paired Mega Bolters, Secondary Plating [470]

Reaver, Power Fist, Chain Fist, Vulcan Mega Bolter, Secondary Plating [310]

Reaver, 2x Chain Fist, Apocalypse missile Pod, Secondary Plating [310]

But after that I'm stuck. Do I add 2 Warhounds? An Acastus and some knights? Another Reaver leaves me short on points but not enough to actually field something. A Nemesis Titan would fit in nicely but I don't think it's a good fit as I see them as rare and specialised and not really something my legio would have access to. I'm aware that I have no no long ranged punch in this list so that needs addressing as well. So....... Ideas? Suggestions?

I'm not sure if this is legal, so correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking a the Crusade lists and I'm thinking of taking....

Trait: Engines of War (Warlord)

Trait: Motive Mastery

Waregear: Tracking Gyroscopes

Ferrox Maniple. 1500pts

Warlord, Power Claw, Macro Gatling, Paired Vulcan Mega Bolters, Tracking gyroscopes [470]

- Princesps Senoris

Reaver, Power Fist, Chain fist, Vulcan Mega Bolter [300]

Reaver, 2x Chain fist, Apocalypse Missile Pod [300]

Warhound, Vulcan Mega Bolter, Plasma Blast Gun [220]

Warhound, Vulcan Mega Bolter, Inferno Gun [210]

The Ferrox maniple trait doesn't state a specific titan, it just says "a titan in this maniple" so the Warlord gets +1 to armour rolls within 10" ?? That's pretty sweet if so. An effective str8 Gatling cannon and str 13 Power claw (hitting on 2's) is quite frightening. I'm still not sure about the 2 Warhounds. Part of me wants another Reaver with Melta Cannon but i'm left with random points.

I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work, seems like that’s exactly how it’s worded to interact. Looks effective!

Yes this does work. A Warlord in a Ferrox maniple is devastating.

I'd probably have a gun or two on those Reavers myself. A Laser blaster is surprisingly good in Ferrox, for example, as it goes up to S9 and hits fairly accurately. My advice would be to swap one CCW each for gatling and laser blasters.

Tracking gyroscopes aren't needed. I think they're a bit wrong as they remove the disadvantage Warlords are supposed to have with their corridor arc. This could free up 10 points for something useful, or if you made the Warlord's VMBs into apoc launchers you could go for a Sunfury on it instead of that Macro gatling. A Ferrox sunfury is insanely good.

That's sound advice. I was trying to stay away from laser technology due to back ground reasons but Plasma tech is obviously in... although rare. So I was trying to stay more with projectile weaponry, famers and the odd odd plasma weapon. Luckily I did magnetise the reavers Power fist so I may well swap that with a Gatling Cannon. Same for the other Reaver as well.

AS for the Gyroscopes, you're right. Plus. This legio is supposed to be seriously lacking in advanced tech (an Oxymoron really for a Titan legion) so additional technology should really be out. I was thinking of Spikes on the warhounds.... Has any one used those? D6 smash attacks with +1 to armour rolls sounds awesome on a warhound. Although for 20points...... probably not worth it.

Ok, so, I'll give one Reaver a Gatling Blaster and then invest some more points into the Warhounds. How have people found the Inferno Cannons on Warhounds? 3str7(8) attacks sounds pretty horrific.

As for an update. I've, so close it's painful, almost finished my White/Purple Warlord. I have to highlight the cogs and Void shield generators and put sand on the base. As for the Red/Yellow Warlord I've started the diamonds pattern. Oh god help me why did I do diamonds patterns?? Pics to follow once I'm done :D

Diamond patterns are pretty hard to do. I managed it eventually on this Mortis engine so can offer a bit of advice.

When I first did the pattern I drew out all the diagonal lines for the pattern. But when I painted it I found the horizontal lines weren't straight, and the row of diamonds drooped on one side. So I suggest drawing in horizontal lines, and maybe verticals too to make a grid, before you start doing the diagonals.

Thanks for the tips! :D

Right. I managed a day off and got some basing done. As well as making some little Cacti out of green stuff and paper clips. I' rather proud of them :D

I also started on the Diamond pattern. Still loads to do but the basic pattern is almost done.

Wow, Thanks guys! I was co chuffed I went and made some more.

So, I don't like replying without some sort of update so, as small as this update is, here is one.

Added another Cactus to the Warlords and a Reavers base. I guess I'll be making quite a few of these now. Do you guys use Flock on your bases? It's hard to scale I guess but I'd like some dry shrub on there to add some colour/detail. Any ideas?

Due to having left over green stuff and a long memory. I went ahead and made some 2nd Edition inspired green balls with red spikes! (is anyone old enough to remember them?) Oh, I also finished blacking out the Diamond pattern so now I just needs highlighting.

Agreed on the cacti, they’re great! Also, I wanted to say what a great contrast in styles you’ve got between the two forces. The crisp, very clean white and gold vs the grungy lived in yellow and red. Really nice stuff!

Thank you kindly! I don't get much time alone (being a dad of a young lad!) so when I do get some time to myself I'll pain the white titans. If not, then I'll paint the yellow ones as their style is a bit more....... sloppy? Dry brush, washes. That sort of thing.

Ok, Finally, FINALLY finished this diamond pattern. I had to correct it in places. Mainly the left front shoulder armour as the pattern curved all over the place. I'm pretty much happy with him how he is although he lacks any sort of markings at the moment.

I also finished all the painting on the White Warlord. Kinda happy with the freehand diamonds and symbols but the colours seem to blend into one. I should jabe gone with a plain red background. Anyway It's just Decals and.......

....... Because Painting white and Diamond patterns wasn't punishing myself. Banners!! This will be for the Warlord (between his legs.)

Thanks :biggrin.: I hope you've all had a nice, relaxing and productive Christmas!

I saw a starter on eBay for a steal (a 3rd of RRP!) and couldn't resist. All the titans/kngihts were prebuilt and either sprayed silver or part painted but, hey, I'm still happy :biggrin.: The Reaver isn't posed exactly how I imaged him but that's mainly due to not being able to pull it apart at the hip joints. Oh well. It''ll do!! He'll be joining the Yellow and Diamond pattern Legio.

Warhound on the base is just done with some quick press mould. Right, off to spray him!!

Thanks mate. Painting is under way on him and a Warhound.

I do need a name for him/her though. Any ideas? I have a name for the Warhound already; Trux animalis (Filthy Animal). The other Reaver is Ferrum Meretrix (Iron Whore). So I need something of similar vein. Plus the Warlord as well for that matter. I never did decide for him.
