This is where I'll post stuff for my Aeldari of all persuasions.

I've been working on the Anger & Arrogance event, so let's start this thread with my latest vow (#5 for those keeping track).

Vow 5

IMG_1639.jpg

I'm also considering how to paint future craft world models. I've extended my galaxy pattern to wave serpents so think new craft world faction is in the works. I'm leaning towards gray with teal accents. I tried purple and daemonette hide, but didn't get the look I wanted. I've got a bunch of stuff including:

  • the new combat patrol
  • a guardians box
  • a rangers box
  • 2 boxes of banshees
  • an autarch box

On the drukhari side, I've got one and a half combat patrols to paint. I am not pleased with my prior custodes color scheme, so am looking to use a complement to the craftworld colors - possibly teal with orange or light blue highlights.

Made good progress on the wraith guard and hope to have them wrapped up tomorrow.

I also explored more options using teal for a base color for either the Asuryani or drukhari. Can't say I'm please with any of them. Maybe I'll look at crimson as that works with the original Ynnari theme and will still complement the vehicles. Still leaning towards the Yme-Loc color scheme on warcopm, but with something other than orange.

Open to thoughts.

Hail The Blood Raven,

To be Honest I hadn't read your post above the second one But When I looked at the Yme Loc scheme Link I immediately thought of turquoise/teal instead of the orange !! ...   Grey, Teal & a small amount of white would look pretty Cool i think ??.

Anger Arrogance vow 5 done. A slightly different look to the other 5 wraith guard and 10 wraith blades painted.

A few more pics of my two recent wave serpents. I'll probably add some more unit markings down the road.

A few more pics of my two recent razor wings. I'll probably add some more unit markings down the road. These kind of need some freehand and airbrush to push them to the next level.

They're pretty damn amazing. How did you do the wraithguard heads?

I dipped them via alligator clips when I did the vehicles. I need to put some matte varnish on them. Wondering if I put the decal on the heads. Thoughts?

That's some nice work, Blood Raven.  Yes, I'd also like to know the step-by-step for the Wraithguard heads.  it looks like polished marble.

Briefly, it uses a technique where a model is dipped into water with a printed film floating on top. My experience is posted in another thread. I suspect there's plenty of videos on YouTube.

Hope this helps.

Ah I see, clever.

Personally I think the standard decals might take away from the effect. Maybe if you have any spare plastic you can dip you could try one on there to see what it looks like?

I know they're Hydro dipped but gee they do look really good though (FYI anyone else reading this and not knowing, hydro dipping is not easy peasy and can be stuffed up pretty easy so even though it's not "air brushed" or "hand painted" it still is a great effort)

the Flyers really benefit from the Nebula look, Decals do look good on them,

My Opinion ,I think if you Decal'd the Wraith heads they would still look good.

Thanks Mithril. I did a little work on a new color scheme before pledging any more for the current painting event.

Some very WIP on color scheme ideas. I like the general colors here, but not yet decided on the catapult's colors. They tend to dominate based on the model's overall size, but I'm leaning towards keeping the turquoise confined to the rear of the weapon. Thoughts or suggestions from my dear readers?

Current colors:

  • Grey seer primer
  • 50/50 space wolves grey / acrylic medium wash
  • blue horror highlights (will probably need to go to white)
  • VMC turquoise
  • VMC natural steel

For those that want to know more about how to achieve that nebula look, here’s an intro video.

How to Hydro Dip for Beginners - unlike these guys I recommend doing this outdoors.

I hope somebody with good freehand or airbrush skills can use a combo of hydro dip and those methods to elevate and democratize better looking models everywhere.

Bought a pre painted lot today so that solves 90% of my hesitation. It’ll be dark grey with purple and green accents. Might paint over the green eventually, but these will work great with the new wave serpents and harlequins.

I hope to pledge a pair of wraith lords for a final Anger & Arrogance vow. Weather doesn’t want to cooperate.

Been a bit quiet as focusing on other stuff. However, I did decide on a new craftworld color scheme. This should work with well with my harlequins. Need to seal this, but otherwise moving forward with this as a base.

I will need to improve the sword, but the core style is the same as that eBay lot, just in turquoise instead of red.

Thanks frater.

@Dwango not sure, but likely some wind riders. Those are still mostly on the sprue, but I have the canopies done.

I’ve got a ton of guardians to slowly go through but they are too small for this look. They’ll just be the base colors above.

Today played my fourth game with harlequins using the current codex. Another beat down this time against space marines. Tried the Tempest of War cards and enjoyed them. Nice to not have to think so far into the game. Also nice that I scored nearly every single one I drew so of course that’s going to color my thoughts.

working away on some windriders but nothing to share just yet. Get to figure out how to assemble the riders next.

Does anybody know where I can find decals for Lugganath craftworld? There was a pair on an official transfer sheet circa 6th edition. Somebodyy had a dedicated sheet on box.net, but it appears to have offered link rot.

Anybody here help a frater out?
