Circle of the Severed

So, I just want somewhere to keep track of my TS army that I intend to have span 30k and 40k. These are still WIP (and the Fire Raptor base is just one I had lying around, not what I'm going with).

The Circle of the Severed (layer the warband The Severed Sons) were those legionaries excluded when Magnus reorganized. Whether they had offended the Primarch or simply couldn't be balanced into the equation was unknown, but they were sent off from the rest of the legion. To reflect this I added some black to the scheme.20220625_094944.thumb.jpg.d45b83b7b598b21b7050737da39c9077.jpg

Worked on this Achilles lately too. I've been building a ton the last few weeks so I should have a big priming batch when weather permits. This was painted with contrast red before I tried tamiya clear so it won't match exactly but I am not going to redo it.

Those look great - I like the counter point of the black, it creates a nice contrast to the metallics on the rest of the model.  One problem with the metallic red pre-Prospero Thousand Sun schemes is that it is hard to not make it look muddled as the various metallics have a tendency to visually blend together, and having large blocks of a non-metallic (black in your case) really helps prevent that.

Thanks! I'm still experimenting with it as I paint so I'm trying to find just the right balance for every model. It's easier on vehicles because I can just add more black as I want. Infantry will need to be at least somewhat standard.

To that end, I started on some breachers. The skin tone is TBD so I'm leaving that red at the moment.large.20220628_214446.jpg.2371d09c72a6d3

So I didn't have much time yesterday to actually work on stuff, but I did prime my Kratos and a Drop Pod.

I started making a veteran squad (probably Command Squad) with Charnabal Glaives over the weekend but I think the scale of the glaive is off. The hand looks a bit big for the wrist to me. I'm also uncertain what jump packs to use. I like the MkIV style with one turbine and I have some of those but I don't think that's the most accurate option.

I really am loving the opportunity to convert and kitbash stuff so far. I'll have free time tonight so maybe I'll get some pictures of more conversions.

I think I figured out my skin tone.

And here are some converted HQs. Dominion Zephon I am considering taking his arms off for a 'casting' hand with a one handed sword but I'm not sure. I like how the sword turned out but it looks too much like Zephon still.

Here's my take on the axe Praetor from AoD:

The sword Praetor is built normally but I haven't picked a head for him yet. I also have to decide how to build the last five Cataphractii. Achean Force Swords are looking fun but the maces do too. It'll probably come down to if I can find printable maces I like more than the khopeshes I have.
