Hi! So I was given a random assault intercessor by my son, which I converted into a vanguard vet using spare parts I had in my bits box, including a sanguinary guard jump pack. This has inspired me to start a Raven Guard army, as I’ve always loved the idea of an all-beaky force. Here’s the first guy. I’m quite proud of the hand painted symbol on the shoulder pad. Found a great image at www.fromthewarp.blogspot.com which gave me a step-by-step method that made this really much simpler than I thought it would be. Also posted a screenshot of that image in case it’s handy for anyone. Next up will be my attempt at Kayvaan Shrike!

Hello! I’m new here and a returning player to 40k. I’m starting a new space wolves army, and thought I’d make a thread to document the process. I’ve chosen the Stormwolves Great Company and my first model conversion is a Primaris in Gravis Armour interpretation of the Wolf Lord Bjorn Stormwolf. Forgive the blu-tac handle on his noggin.

I'm remaking some Apothecaries made from scratch and I want to put on them the traditional backpack. I want to make from scratch too, but I lack of inspiration or ideas. Which bits are most recommended? The light is easy with Necromunda's Delaque targeters, but the "scanner"?

Here will be posted some heavy chaos conversions/kitbashes/scratch builds that I have been working on for as long as a couple years now. I am looking for thoughts, suggestions, and opinions on how to make some really monstrous models. NOTE: Picture quality and size increase drastically later in this plog, so feel free to skip ahead Most recent completed project: current wip:

Redemptor Dreadnought Conversion
Brother Christopher posted a blog entry in Conversions and Scratch Building Madness
Greetings Brothers, Some of you might be familiar with this project since I've been posting progress reports in the WIP subforum. You can see more work-in-progress photos in my thread. However, since I managed to finally complete the model, I thought that it's a great pretext for trying the blog function out. The project nearly turned out to be overwhelming. It took me way more time and required more skills than I anticipated, especially when it comes to handling Milliput. Nevertheless, despite the problems I encountered and the time it took me, I am quite happy with how the model turned out. The final product is a far cry from what I initially wanted to achieve and/or roughly envisaged the conversion to be but by no means is it bad. The main source of my problems was that I didn't do enough research and designing before starting work. I wanted to make the Redemptor more like the Castraferrum dreadnoughts, along the inspirations below: Clearly, I failed to thoroughly consider what made these conversions work and make the model look more like a 'true-scale' Box Dreadnought. Instead, with just a the vague impression and a set of ideas what I wanted to change and what I wanted to add, I started work, quite unconsciously taking more cues from the design of a Leviathan or Contemptor Dreadnought, than the design of a Castaferrum. The final result is quite different from what I wanted. This doesn't mean that I'm dissatisfied with the final product or the hours I spent on the project - I can quite confidently state that I'm quite happy with how it turned out and how the journey ended. I think that I managed to fix a lot of issues I take with the Primaris aesthetic and, overall, to my taste, the model is an upgrade to the vanilla Redemptor. A lot of this results from reducing the 'roundness' and plainness of the original (legs, shoulder guards), as well as shedding some front-heavy weight (the extra armour and the way the hull weapons are mounted on the original). And some side-by-side comparisons with a vanilla Redemptor Dreadnought: Shoulder guards: Including greebles on the back: Leg guards/greeves: Torso/hull: -
With the first member of the up-scaled Cataphractii painted, I'm kinda surprised to say that the project is complete I already said in my previous entry, that I'm satisfied with the build. However seeing the result in full color gives that extra layer of confirmation and pleasure. Finis coronat opus if my High Gothic serves me right? Now the nearest goal is to paint the remaining 4 members of the squad. There is another 5 waiting in the sprues too if I fancy. As far as trying to make Terminators "better" idea goes, I have plans to try it out with the Indomitus pattern as well\ Cheers!
