With the release of the beakie kit, I decided to indulge in my 3rd edition roots and a heavy dose of RT inspiration and make a small Crimson Fists army. The spark for this was a Captain I'd built and painted for the Nova Open Charitable Foundations winter raffle, which I loved painting and ignited this whole project. I'll be recreating this model soon. Probably the best thing I painted last year, honestly. I miss you, RT Captain. As for what I do have, I've got four squads built so far, with a Dreadnought in the works. First up are the Tactical Squad and Sternguard Veterans. The Tacticals were built using the HH beakie kit, as I wanted to invoke the classic RT vibe, aka MARK 6. It's my favourite mark, it's a nice kit, and I can finally live my dream of a beakie army. I think I want to add a back banner to the Sgt, but I'm a little hesitant, I don't know if there's a limit to them before I won't like it. The Sternguard come from the Leviathan set with some minor changes. You'll notice one of them is already finished, as he was the model of the month for October and I had already decided this would be a new year project. More beakies, of course, this time sourced from the Ravenwing kit. They still need a bit of work, but I'll have them ready for priming soon. Not that the weather will allow for it right now, but when it does, I hope to have the whole project ready to go. I have two squads of Terminators built, plus a Terminator Captain, I'll get photos of them soon. I've also got a Dreadnought in the works, which is taking much longer to convert than I thought, but it's finally coming together. I want to like the Redemptor style but It just doesn't work for me, so I've been converting one until I like it/it more closely resembles the box-naught I love. More on that soon too.

I've got some games coming up in October and we'll be using the list building limitations from a tournament one of us has been playing at. When we play I'll be using Crimson Fists (Primaris) and the others could be using pretty much anything so I need to cover as many bases as possible (yup... my head hurts). Any suggestions will get greatly appreciated. The Building Rules: • 700 points limit • No single unit more than 225 points • No aircraft (I don't have any anyway) • Nothing with more than 14 wounds • No Epic Heroes • Must use 1 Battleline minimum • No unit outside of Battleline and Transport can be taken more than twice I've got the following that can be used: Biologis, Captain in TDA, Liby in TDA, Prim Ancient, Prim Cpt (shield), Prim Lt (Shield), Prim Lt (bolter), Prim Lt (sword). HInt ×5, Int ×15 Ballistus, Eradicators ×6, Hellblaster ×5, Incursor ×5, Infurnus ×10, Infiltrator ×5, Reivers ×10, Sternguard ×5, TDA ×5, Vindicator ×2 Can maybe pick up some other bits but would rather build from what I have so far, initially. Many thanks.

Since the start of 9th edition I've been playing around with army lists for the Crimson Fist army I started at the beginning of 8th, when the Primaris line was first released. I've got quite a lot of models now, painted to a standard I'm pretty happy with. I'm faced with a choice to either continue with this army or make something new for 9th. It's not a particularly urgent decision, since I'm in lockdown and can't play any actual games. Good time to paint models though. So the idea is to build on what I've got already to have an army that can properly play 9th edition 40k but that still makes sense to play as Fists. This is tricky because our CTs and super doctrine both took nerfs in the new book and FAQ. My stalker bolt rifles and Onslaught Gatling Cannons won't benefit from Legacy of Dorn any more. On the other hand though, Pedro continues to be pretty useful, thanks to his auras granting Obsec and +1A. These are serious traits to have in 9th edition, which is all about controlling midfield. As such I've designed an army to take and hold the centre of the board through sheer brute force, rather than any particularly clever tricks. Here's the current iteration, which I'd value your opinion on. Pedro Kantor 155 Warlord Primaris Librarian 95 Null Zone Psychic Fortress Probably some sort of relic - not sure what. 10 Intercessors 220 Auto Bolt Rifles 2 Auxiliary Grenade Launchers Power Fist 10 Intercessors 220 Auto Bolt Rifles 2 Auxiliary Grenade Launchers Power Fist 10 Intercessors 220 Bolt Rifles or maybe stalkers 2 Auxiliary Grenade Launchers Power Fist Primaris Apothecary 80 5 Aggressors 225 Fragstorm Grenade Launchers Redemptor 185 Icarus pod Onslaught Gatling Cannon Redemptor 185 Icarus pod Onslaught Gatling Cannon 5 Inceptors 250 10 Plasma Exterminators 3 Attack Bikes 165 Multimeltas I don't actually spend any CPs in army creation or deployment, which is nice. I could, perhaps to get something like the Eye of Hypnoth for one of my Characters from the Imperial Fists relics. I could just have a dreadnought use Wisdom of the Ancients but it would be nice to have the option of using that for rerolls to hit, to increase the places I could deploy the Inceptors. So the basic idea is that the three Characters, dreadnoughts and Aggressors will usually be pretty central. Intercessors can combat squad as required to cover bits of the board. I could potentially swap out some intercessors for incursors. This might help me do early game secondaries and screen out deep strikers. I do like the weight of dakka the intercessors give, but the incursors do fairly well on that score as well. I'm having a fun time chopping up an Invader ATV and making it into an attack bike. I think these are marginally better than Eradicators for me, due to their extra wound and the fact their multimeltas benefit from Legacy of Dorn. They can also split fire if needed and move a lot faster than Eradicators can. If I had any kind of deployment schenanigans the Eradicators would be better, but I don't. I've left out my Leviathan, which feels a bit odd. Lacking the Core keyword really hurts it though I think. I'd love to use the strat to make it have every doctrine so it could maintain Legacy of Dorn, but without that I think the Redemptors might be better. It's still a fantastic firebase though.

Hi there folks, this is going to be a log for me to post up all those small one off projects that we find ourselves constantly drawn to. There's going to be a mix of building and painting projects, maybe even some terrain too! To start off with I've got an Executioner/Judiciar from the Dark Angels, or perhaps one of their successor chapters, I'd like to hear peoples' opinions on the model, both in general and in regards to what he should have adorning his power pack. Plain: Angel: Icon: Banner: Skulls: Thanks for looking and if anyone has alternative suggestions for decoration, please suggest those too!

Greetings brothers! So recently I've started to notice that I become a lot more motivated to paint when I have deadlines to meet or a goal in mind, so to that end, I've decided to start cataloguing my work on here as a sort of self-help method to clear my backlog and get my painting moving! I'm currently working on an all-primaris version of the vaunted 4th Company of the Crimson Fists during the Indomitus Crusade. The Crimson Lancers, which was the old company of Captain Alessio Cortez before his disappearance. I have a lot purchased, but as mentioned, not much painted, so it's time to make a start. I love to convert and add a narrative and story to the models I paint so expect a little bit of fan-fiction if I post a model I'm particularly happy with. First up is two five-man intercessor squads and a minor converted Lieutenant, who I have yet to name. I'm hoping to extend these to ten-man squads which will form the core of my battle line. Looking to get these finished in the next few days, Dorn willing. I'm trying to make these dudes as fluffy as possible, with the correct transfers and insignia too. The bare-headed sergeant was my first time sculpting hair with green stuff, as the head was originally shaven. Anyway, would love to hear any thoughts on these, hope to be back with more updates soon. "There is only the Emperor, he is our shield and protector!"

I'm thinking of building a kill team or maybe a small army of my favourite Badab War Chapter, the Executioners. I've painted this test model, and am looking for some feedback on the colour scheme: I'm aiming for a dark metallic steel with a very slight blue-ish hue (don't want it too blue, as I also have a Crimson Fists project ongoing as well). Is it still identifiable as an Executioner? Thanks in advance!

Removed the Ultramarines icons and painted him as a Crimson Fists Scout Sergeant. He is the commander of my Kill Team and will be used in my 10th Company Task Force Detachment (which is basically the models from the Kill Team)© Ulfgrim 2016
