  1. Greetings! Long time lurker of this part of the forum. I have my lair in the Dark Angel-section, but I've been working on various projects unrelated to them. Since I'm not interested to keep making new threads for every new faction I delve into, I'll concentrate them all in this place. Expect projects on Dark Angels, Consecrators, Goliaths (Necromunda), Guardsmen (KT) and some Imperial Knights (for fun). More projects depend on how bad my self control is. Since it's the start of a new thread, some pictures of the current collection are in order. I'll post them up when I get the chance to make some pictures. I'm a mediocore painter and a terrible photographer, so please don't be too harsh First up, the lads who started it all. I haven't painted Dark Angels for years. My side project of the Consecrators grew out to become my main project, dwarfing my current force of the Green Lads. They're still in my collection as extra's, but they're more or less finished, since I have no intention to paint more Dark Angels. My very first model! All of the Greenwing. And my Deathwing More to come!
  2. I couldn't help it, the models were too sexy. First WIP of my first non Chaos models in over a decade I feel so dirty
  3. Hail Fraters! After a very, very long hiatus, I have decided to return to Warhammer 40k and have decided to give 9th edition a try. I have not played 40k since the early days of 8th edition, where I soured in the skewed Codices, stratagems everywhere, command point optimization and where it seemed that the way to go was to have as many overlapping auras as physically possible. Having talked with friends who also gave up on 8th, we have decided to give 9th a spin - specifically 9th Crusade rules. To that end, I have gone and bought the 9th Rulebook second-hand, and have also closed a deal for the current 9th Dark Angel Codex second hand. That leads to the first question: 1) Are there any other rule books I need? (Because GW has NEVER been nice enough to have all the rules in one place...) As for the starting armies - since I have no Codex, it is still a bit in the wind, as to what will constitute the initial Crusade force. As I have been collecing Dark Angels since 1992 - and then only seriously since 2001, I could field an army of painted Firstborn...but then what would be the purpose of this thread? Instead I have decided to try out the new toys on the block: the Primaris usurpers. Therefore I spent January 1st putting together all the Primaris that I got in the Dark Imperium starter box back in what, 2017? I only ever managed to finish one of them - a lieutenant, but almost finished the Gravis Captian, the Ancient and the Hellblasters. They are therefore probably the ones that will get done first. Below you can all see what I have to work with for the Crusade coming up: As for their background, it is still a work in progress...but I know that the Firstborn Termintor Chaplain is there to provide spiritual advice to the good, newbie Gravis Captian (and not at all to supervise, monitor and surveil him). My friends will be playing, respectively, Necrons, Sisters of Battle, Grey Knights and Black Templars. In other words - lots of power amour saves. I am really looking forward to painting some Dark Angels again, after not having painted any in years. Till the Sword is reforged! Faithfully, Master Ciaphas
  4. Greetings ladies and gentlemen, It's been many a moon since I've posted something on here, almost 15 years or so. Uncle Sam and real life have kept me from pretty much playing any 40k since the end of 2nd edition/start of 3rd edition. That being said I've always had opportunity to swing back by the Rock and get inspired by the myriad of awesome painting, story telling, and modeling this community presents. My son is old enough to where he has shown an interest in war gaming and so, him and I being WW2 buffs, picked up a set of US and German paras to put together and paint. While at the local game store I came across the new primaris Dark Angel character. I know feelings are mixed when it comes to these new upstarts...I still have 200+ Marines and vehicles in foam lined boxes. However, you have to admit these new models are really nice and detailed. So I picked one up with the hopes of using him in some sort of board game or even this new kill-team game. I was a bit nervous, $30 on one single guy, is a bit of money to invest in a little plastic dude. I really wanted this guy to look good but the problem was that I hadn't painted a darn mini since my break from playing the game. So I looked at lots of videos, lots of advice from this board, and I can honestly say this guy turned out to be my best work. He took a BLEEP ton of time but I'm glad I took it nice and slow. He still is not quite done yet as I'm gonna try and pull off a white marble effect on his right shoulder pad and place a decal there before sealing him with some flat sealer. I would appreciate any comments, suggestions and advice concerning this guy right here. As a side note, I'm not a fan of these new wanna be MK4 helms or skull motifs. Beakies for the win. I tried to emulate the excellent tutorial by Sekhmet in his thread. Thank you! Work in progress. Trying out this new contrast. Also, white paint...ugh. More WIP. Also attempted to do a fancy sword blending technique I found online for something non traditional. Really happy how these wings came out. Was inspired by Lostrael's white/blue technique. Thank you! Some better (?) lighting pic. Still some work to fix some smudges. Actually managed to get some legible script on the shoulder pad. Pretty darn happy with this. So thanks for having a looksy. Looking forward to any advice from all of you. Edited for grammar.
  5. Hi, Since getting into a bit of mini photography lately, and inspired post FAQ to abandon thoughts of other armies in the near future, I've decided to spruce up my mechanized 3rd company and some suppporting units. I will try to touch up and repaint where necessary a new unit every week or so, these first ones took last week to touch up and highlight. I am unsure about the new green highlights and may change them to a lighter shade, in photos they still look very dark. First up for viewing, Master Ramiel and his command squad: Ramiel himself; I am wondering about adding detail to his shoulders. EDIT: ON MIGRATION TO THE NEW SITE MANY PICS GOT STRETCHED, CLICK ON THEM FOR A PROPER VIEW. His command squad; And together with their ride; C and C welcome, should I change the highlights etc? HUGE EDIT: Thought I'd add my Completed Pics to the First post because this thread is getting long. Stobz
  6. Brothers and Sisters of the Rock, the day has finally come to make my glorious return to the hobby! I haven’t built a model since I think 2000-2001? And I haven’t played a game since 5th edition came out. I have read books, lurked forums, and my interest is always high, but for financial and family reasons it hasn’t been something I have a lot of time for, until now! This topic will serve as my build log and painting showcase. There are so many talented and experienced builders and painters here that I’m not looking to wow you all with my skills, but I do like to get feedback, share ideas, and keep myself motivated. Comments are always appreciated.

"The measure of true glory is not to give battle in the bright noon of war, surrounded by brave comrades upon the field of victory, but to valiantly fight on alone in the darkness, with no hope of aid or even remembrance, and to spit defiance in midnight's eye." — Lion El'Jonson, Reflections on the Mirror of War, Vol III The Uncrowned Princes are a recently-founded Successor Chapter of the Dark Angels that was created during the recent Ultima Founding during the 42nd Millennium and is comprised entirely of Primaris Space Marines. Styled after the old Dark Angels Legion that existed during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, the Uncrowned Princes, as they have been known as, have also inherited the old tenets of the Lion during their creation. Due to this, they are noted to have made many major tactical and organizational deviations from the Codex Astartes, as they use a modified version of the Hexagrammaton, which was how the old Dark Angels Legion was organized. Hailing from the forested death world of Blackhaven, which is virtually identical in both climate and culture to Caliban, the destroyed death world that served as the homeworld of the Dark Angels, their parent chapter. The Uncrowned Princes have been forged into Astartes due to their experience of hunting down the large monsters of their homeworld as they seek to take on the biggest foes they can find, whether in sheer size or sheer numbers. During their founding, the Uncrowned Princes were given a significant portion of the old First Legion's arsenal to use in battle. Read More: Uncrowned Princes

The Rift Reapers are an Ultima Founding Space Marine chapter using gene-seed taken from the secretive Dark Angels and their Primarch Lion El'Jonson. They were officially founded in the first wave of primaris chapters during the Indomitus Crusade, though they were part of the pre-founding batches of primaris used for testing the new organs and equipment that were created and deployed in small amounts prior to the actual founding. While at first they were ignorant to much of their primogenitor chapter's true history, by the end of the Indomitus Crusade the chapter's Inner circle was aware of the Fallen and have fervently joined the secretive ranks of the Unforgiven in the hunt for them. The Paladins of Caliban or in High Gothic the Custodians Calibani are a Successor Chapter created from the lineage of the ancient and mysterious Dark Angels. As they're an Ultima Founding Chapter, they're composed entirely of Primaris Space Marines. As a member of the Unforgiven, they've learned their progenitor chapter's secrecy and, as such, have been known for being extremely secretive towards their allies during battles or campaigns. The Iron Seraphs are a Loyalist fleet-based Successor Chapter descended from the venerable Angels of Absolution, whom themselves are descended from the ancient and mysterious Dark Angels Chapter. This Chapter is composed entirely of Primaris Space Marines, created during the most recent Ultima Founding. Operating in the Justicar sub-Sector of the Armageddon Sector, the Iron Seraphs are highly active at prosecuting the wars of the Imperium against the myriad of enemies of Mankind. Like their fellow Unforgiven Chapters, the Iron Seraphs are driven to prosecute the Dark Angels' secret war against The Fallen, and are more than willing to answer their progenitors' call to war in order to achieve their objectives. The Inheritors of Caliban are a Codex-compliant Chapter created in the Ultima Founding descended from the venerable Dark Angels. Though a noble and pious Chapter, their name hides a dark secret few of them are privy to. The Inheritors of Caliban did not just inherit the genetic legacy of Lion El'Jonson, but the dark secrets hidden by the Dark Angels. Of course these secrets were not granted to the Inheritors easily, for the Dark Angels were hesitant to trust the Primaris with the secrets the First Born had kept for millennia. Even so, the Inheritors of Caliban proved worthy of the secrets and now count themselves among the Unforgiven. Read More: Inheritors of Caliban

Pictured Above: Nibril Haldacian, current Supreme Master of the Inheritors of Caliban and Lord of the Unseen Order (Inner Circle). Nibril Haldacian is the current Supreme Master of the Inheritors of Caliban Chapter and Lord of the Unseen Order. He succeeded Tassadon after the former Supreme Master's mysterious demise in the Battle of Suruka Matalox that also saw the deaths of the last of the Awakened Primaris, giving way for the Chapter to be completely of the Indoctrinated Primaris. Haldacian is remarked to be a shrewd and cunning strategist who tricks his foes into a false sense of security before tearing their delusion down with his attacks. He has a low regard for personal combat, opting instead to lead from behind and using a pair of Boltstorm Gauntlets for when he must deal with foes. As Lord of the Unseen Order, it is his duty to oversee the meetings as well as keep the secrets of the Unforgiven. As Chapter Master, he is privy to the whole truth of the Unforgiven, more so than anyone else in the Inheritors of Caliban, yet even he does not know the full truth.

The Harvesters is a loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the recent Ultima Founding from the ancient and aloof Dark Angels. Since its inception, this Chapter has garnered a reputation for its cold calculating approach to waging wars. More so than in other chapters the life of each battle-brother is considered secondary to his duty. This astartes chapter earned a fearsome reputation for their ability to get behind enemy lines and dismantle the command structure. Their mastery to prosecute a swift and silent style of war, to smother the enemy's ability to resist, steal their will to fight with precision strikes, and gain the acquisition of key intelligence for use by other forces. And their dedication to their duties make them highly effective warriors. Read More: Harvesters
