Hail, Frater! Today, on the Liberalia Martiale, The IRON GAUNTLET has returned once more! Those of you who have been around the board for several years perhaps remember the last Iron Gauntlet, last run in 2020, and then before in 2017. Those of you who have joined after 2020 may not know the name--but I assure you, you will in time! The Iron Gauntlet is the Liber's Premiere DIY event--a year-long challenge, composed of five smaller challenges, each with three tiers designed to challenge fraters' creativity to the utmost. I invite all of you to visit the Liber, and consider its rigors, and perhaps take up the challenges, to prove yourselves worthy of the Iron Gauntlet! Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go searching through the Deepest Darkest Depths of the Liber, and see where the accursed relic has got off to this time. Welcome to the 1st Edition of GreenScorpion's Build, Paint, Discover Event, an Astra Militarum Hobby Challenge! Objective: Complete as many hobby related tasks by January 7th. The focus of the event is in 3 different categories: Build, which includes pledges for building, converting, sculpting, scratch building and so on; Paint, which includes painting, repainting, basing and other decorative tasks like decals and so on; Discover, which includes reading books from Black Library (or listening in the case of audio books), reading fluff in the codex, writing your own fluff and so on; Critical dates: Sign up period - October 1st - December 31st This is an open event, so participants can pledge or add to their pledges throughout the entire period of the event. Once you have made your pledge and posted your before picture or relevant information on the pledged activities, you may start with the particular activities that you have pledged to perform To enter, post your before picture/relevant information with your pledge: "In the name of the Emperor and Lord Commander , I Commander <name> of the <regiment>, shall <particular tasks(s)> by January 7th." October 1st - January 7th: Hobby period Hobby in earnest! WIP and update posts are encouraged! January 7th : End of event Pictures, links or other proof of the completed task must be posted by 23:59 in your local time Those who successfully carry out these tasks, will be provided a medal honouring their service to the Emperor and Imperial Guard. Event notes: You can pledge at any time throughout the event. There is no minimum or maximum pledge. Miniatures can be pledged in various levels of WIP, as long as the task is clear and the initial state of the miniature is shown as part of the pledge. This includes partially built and partially painted miniatures. During this event you can pledge for any valid unit or model from the current Astra Militarum range. This includes kit bashes, conversions, sculpted miniatures and scratch built miniatures. You may also pledge terrain features / buildings for this event. This includes kit bashes, conversions, sculpted miniatures and scratch built miniatures. Badges will be issued at the end of the event that can be added to your signature. These badges will indicate different levels of completed tasks per type or overall. Badges will be earned per each of the three task types, based on the amount of tasks completed, regardless of the complexity of the task itself, so for example pledging to build 100 models as a task would earn the same badge as pledging to convert a character. The idea is to get people pledging small feasible tasks in order to complete more than if they just go with a single huge task. So my local event organizer designed a large-scale battle to cap the year off. This will take all five of the large tables in my FLGS as the community battle over the course of the day. The main forces in this are: Defenders - Xenos Factions (minus Nids) Attackers - All chaos factions, GSC, Guard and Admech (Traitor and dark effectivately) The over arcing mission of this event is to stop the Chaos forces from completing a ritual on a majority of the tables. This is a modified version of the Ritual mission from 9th if my guess is right. The defenders will be divided by faction to protect their assigned area/table. So far there is only one other Tau player in this. However between the two of us we are fielding a combined total of almost 9K (5300 for me, 3600 for him). So this is going to be a semi-packed table. I’m not sure on my counterpart’s force comp, but here is the list of units that I will be bringing to the defense. Dark Wind Cadre 7th Gue'vesa Wing This is pretty much my entire collection, at least the painted portion. I do still have more units to work on, but will not be done by the event (Dec 16th) as I need a break from tau after finishing the Ta’unar. Speaking of which, some pictures I took of the battle ready unit. I want to add another GCS trooper and some flare to the other two engines later. Just ran out of greenstuff and I don’t have access to another trooper. The one I used is from the Ridgerunner kit I have and the splated arms are used from my sister’s spare parts of her GSC collection. For the suits, plan is to consolidate them and do 3 teams of 3 with a commander, this will leave a commander on their own, but the same will happen with the fireblades. My major hope is that I only have to face one of the three Chaos Knight players I know are attending. Honestly I figure the EO will spread them out a bit. The rest is going to be how the first turn goes cause whoever gets it will be causing a large amount of pain in the opening salvo. Also not sure if their will be some version of Sustained Assault, though there is a decent chance there will be.

What are your personal thoughts and opinions about this year edition? In general, I mean. I wasn't present in the physical event, but the ambient look great. And about the presentations I have mixed feelings. I hoped to see more things (specially in Horus Heresy and WFB. WFB was quite disappointing...) and I was sad when I saw nothing for Necromunda, because I'm an avid player an miniature collector of this game, but I'm quite satisfied in general (Kill Team boxes showed are very juicy. The big one is awesome for Necromunda also.) And quite surprised, I must admit, with lack of info leaks this year. Maybe GW's has learn to cut them off. I think some webs and channels are not happy about that. What are your's?

Greetings, my fellow chaos followers! As you probably have noticed, the influence of Grandfather Nurgle is spreading throughout the world. And what better time to take care of that big pile of various shades of grey that is populating our wardrobes, attics and other storage places. As such, I was thinking I could have a little event with this. The premise is pretty simple. Do you have "that old project I never finished", or a squad that has been basecoated but never really finished. GET IT DONE! The event will be live for from 1st of April to the 31st of May and you vow one project at a time. At the end, you'll get a fancy badge for your signature depending on the number of vows you have finished. Pictures will be needed for "before" and "after". So how do you finish a vow, I hear you ask? Well, the only one you're competing against is yourself! As long as the project clearly has been improved upon since the start, it's valid...within reason ofc. *Got grey sprues you need to assemble and paint, that's fine *Got grey built models that needs paint, that's fine *Got basecoated models or models with basic colours on them, that's fine as well. *Got models you're unsure of, PM me and I'll take a look. Now, this is a very much improvised campaign that I thought about as I have been recovering from the big C, so the badges aren't done yet... But they will be... UPCOMING EVENT: SEPT - DEC 2019 "THE LIBER ASTARTES SWAP CHALLENGE" Greetings Brothers and Sisters of the LIBER! So for those of the Adeptus Astartes persuasion, it has been a very busy month with the release of a new Codex and Supplements, including the return of Chapter Tactics to really allow us Liberites to really go and have fun creating our unique Chapters of Space Marines. As a result and to help drum up further activity here and display some comradely fun, I am resurrecting an old event first championed in my old days by "Captain_Shrike" before "Ferrus Manus" took up the responsibility of the DIY Chapter Swap. Now this event will be a little bit different from that event of old if you are venerable enough to remember. This event will champion new writing of fresh Chapters of Space Marines, or alternatively, updating Chapter articles you have made here on the B&C (for older hands like myself I will likely follow this route. Jimmy: So, Brother Cambrius, how will this work? I am so glad that you asked me, Jimmy! So here is the planned breakdown of what will happen in 2 phases: PHASE 1 (September 3rd - October 31st) Participants must submit a complete DIY Chapter article by November 1st. By complete, I want to see an article that covers the basics on your Chapter to define who they are, what they do and what are they like to really help the person who will be creating a miniature from your Chapter in Phase 2. If you want to get a scope on what is needed at the bare minimum, you could look up some examples from Forge World entries on Chapters, which aren't a full codex or article entry, but really define the Chapter succinctly. Another good example are the mini IAs I have constructed over the years like the Avenging Fists and Demolishers. More detailed articles are most certainly encouraged as Phase 1 is all about creating and improving your Chapter with input from everyone else. Jimmy: But, Brother Cambrius, what about those Liberites who have submitted articles or have made an army of one of their numerous Chapters over the years and may not want to start afresh with a new Chapter? Jimmy you really are asking so many pertinent questions, aren't you? Well fret not Liberites! With the release of the new Codex and the whole Primaris addition and progression of the 40k Universe a while back, this opens up a fantastic opportunity for older hands to revive older articles if they desire and update them to the current timeline. Are they destroyed, reborn with a large amount of Primaris, still the same but with newer responsibilities or moments of triumph/despair that have defined the Chapter's psyche and doctrines? All of this is fresh meat and fluff to chew and play around with. I'll be doing this myself with some of my older Chapter(s), depending on participation. Jimmy: What about those who make Index Traitoris articles on Chaos Marines and Renegades? Can they take part? Well Jimmy, yes they can! But numbers will be vital in ensuring they will have a partner who we can swap their Warband/Chapter with and can produce an appropriate model. If numbers are insufficient, the Moderati team will look into a work around. Now then Jimmy, it is clear you have been influenced by the foul notions of the Warp to even ask such a question, so off to Servitor indoctrination for you... Jimmy: Wait, what?! Moderati, no! Nooooo! -Ahem- Now, where were we? Articles must include an image of the chapter's heraldry and symbol (this can be done by including an image or images using a miniature you have painted, or the Space Marine Painters here on the B&C, or the GW Primaris variant). Participants must also include which Space Marine models they are willing and able to build and construct in the Vow they will submit when the event begins on September 3rd, as not everyone has Primaris marines yet, which would be a little awkward if they got an Ultima Founding Chapter. PHASE 2 (November 1st) It is at this point Chapter IA/Articles/IT submissions for this events are cut off and each participant is randomly assigned a chapter through a PM to build and paint a model of.You will have up to January 1st 2020 to complete their model(s). Participants will need to submit an image of their WIPs and Completed miniatures in the respective threads created at the start of Phase 2 in WIPs and the Hall of Honour, with direct links in the LIBER to these in the opening post of the Chapter Swap event thread. Greetings to you, Sororitas and Fraters! As you may know, March 17th is a special date for us: Liber Day! For the occasion, the Liber Mods are preparing a little celebration for all the DIYers out there. In the run-up, you can participate in the festivities by showing us the heraldry of your factions in the 40k and 30k settings, along with some of their character. To do so, all you need to do is to present the photo of a model painted in the colours of your DIY army, along with a short text presenting that model's great deeds performed in your name. Whether you paint a new model or use one that has been in your army for decades is up to you: what's important is that their faction should have their own visual identity (ie, it is your own personal colour scheme). The accompanying text should be between 100 and 200 words long: this could recount any battles it may have participated in on the tabletop or could be an exploration of the character's life in the grim darkness of the far future; if you need, take a look at the colour plates in the Forge World books to find inspiration. To provide some pointers, I shall also post some of these up myself over the course of the challenge.
