  1. I managed to snag a load of the new mk III marines, which I’ve fallen in love with. They don’t really fit in with the Thousand Sons I’ve already painted so I decided to start a second proper Legion with them. I've always been a big fan of the VIIth legion, so decided to do a Terran themed force (I’ll be adding some Custodes and Solar Auxilia in time to come). I’ll get round to figuring out some fluff but decided to add as much Templar themed iconography as possible as I love them in 40k Here’s a tester I’ve done for a Tactical Sergeant. He started off with a yellow chest plate and helmet, but felt it needed something to make it pop a little more, so painted the torso black instead. I’m unsure whether to do this for the entire force or just Sergeants and Veterans, maybe just do some vambraces or greaves black, will see how I get on as I go along. I’m also in the process of finishing up Fafnir Rann (because why not) and just started the first 5 tactical marines to go with my Sergant. Also, to finish the figure off I bought a load of Unreal Wargaming Sacred Ruins bases. They’re absolutely gorgeous, so will defo be getting some more soon. So yeah, here’s a pic of the sergeant before I changed the torso, and him completely finished. And c&c’s are most welcome!
  2. I know I'm relatively new around here, but I've been trying to branch out, so I suppose I'll show off my Fists. Here's the method to my madness. Spray Tamiya Camel Yellow PS-19 over unprimed model. This can take SEVERAL, VERY light coats as it can slide over the plastic, but white and black undercoats didn't get the desired effect. Spray with purity seal, testors dullcoat, matte finish whatever. Selective wash of equal-parts Gryphonne Sepia, Devlad Mud and water. VERY light drybrush of golden yellow to bring the colour up. Do metal/shoulders/Aquila as desired. Drybrush 50/50 Golden Yellow/Skull White for small edge highlights. Anyway, I've used more than a full Tactical Squad in finding this method, and this is what turned out DECENT. There are four more that were aborted very early on in painting due to wash issues, wrong colour entirely etc. http://i.imgur.com/fw2jbGu.jpg On the left we have my test mini, in the center the second one done. The second one done really bothered me and had me learn the hard way how difficult it is to get that consistency with yellow. Towards the right, Mr. Melty-face. A better attempt at consistency, but not as bright as the test mini. http://i.imgur.com/4PAzwGR.jpg Mr. Melty-face on the left. In the center, someone I was finally satisfied with, but still no measure of consistency. On the right, my first done tit-for-tat with kingmong's method. It just looked too orange for me, he's clearly better with his spray and wash than I am, so I took the easy way out. http://i.imgur.com/vxoHmm7.jpg Finally, the final model I'm satisfied with. I love it. Perfect yellow, smooth coverage, easy detail, simple blacklining. Love it. I can see how to do vehicles and squads from this method - like I said to him though, I can see why he sprays without the arms on! Can't wait to get started with more!
  3. There are quite a lot of changes in our latest FAQ: https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Pg7SNcXHy0BwUCW4.pdf The one that stood out most for me was this: So now a whole ton of weapons lose the bonus. I'm not sure which of these is most significant, though intercessors' stalker bolt rifles are probably high up the list. Then probably heavy bolters. Stuff like onslaught gatling cannons, that became decent AT weapons for Fists (especially with the tank hunters strat) are now a huge amount weaker. Autocannons are still ok though, and gained a shot. I wasn't sure if my suppressors would see a lot of table time in 9th but they might. And, like everyone else, I guess I'll be buying Eradicators. Can't say I'm at all happy with this change. I don't know why they had to nerf Fists even more, after the doctrine changes.
  4. Baltimore Knife and Sword, of the YouTube series, just made a giant hammer whose head is in the shape of two right fists. It's the "Hand of the Patriarch" from the Wasteland 3 video game, and thus, not directly related to Warhammer 40,000, but doesn't it look fit for CAPT Lysander's hand?
  5. Hey friends, after spending some time time in quarantine I finally finished a decent chunk of models! I thought I was dragging my feet but I've actually finished a decent chunk so far. I know my 30k backlog still has a ways to go, but it was nice to finally seal all these up and call them done! I always love adding models to my Imperial Fists collection. The completed list so far is: 1x Custodes Tribune 1x Navigator 1x Knight Castellan for House Hawkshroud 2x Lightning Strike Fighters 1x Vigilator Centurion 10x Veterans 10x Recon Marines 6x Tarantulas 3x Deimos Predators 1x Fellblade In a few more days I'll hopefully have 5 Outriders, 10 Vets, 1 Centurion, 2 Rhinos, and 1 Contemptor Dreadnought added to the completed pile. Enjoy!
  6. Shenandoah Knights Chapter http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/sm.php?b62c=@haiWu_hly1H.iakk7____@@@.@_@@..@@@@@@@@@@@hXD48@hXD48@@@@@@@@@@@_hksDA@@@@@@@@@____hksDA.&grid=TRUE Origins It is believed that the Shenandoah Knights chapter were formed as part of the 25th Founding. As it is around this time that the first mentions of the chapter appear in Imperial records. Home World The Shenandoah Knights claim the Shenandoah system in the Segmentum Pacificus as their home and maintain chapter keeps, which bear the title of Knight's Keep, on the inhabited planets in the system. They are Kyboro, Atlantica, Urangara and Lydale. Prior to the Shenandoah Knights claiming the system, it had a proud military history and provided many regiments, which were collectively referred to as the Shenandoah Guard for the Imperial Guard and while the numbers may have dropped, it is tradition that is still continued. Gene-Seed The gene-seed of the Shenandoah Knights is that of the Imperial Fists Legion and they share many of the same traits of that chapter. The chapter shares many personality with the Black Templars and claim their first generation's gene-seed came from the tithes of Black Templars to Terra Organisation The Shenandoah Knights maintain many of the traditions of their parent chapter, one of which is that the chapter is fleet based, even though they claim a system as their own, if not a single world. However their organisation strongly resembles that of the Black Templars, but rather than an ad hoc organisation like that of the Black Templars, the chapter is organised into 4 Priories, three of which are about equivalent in size to that of 3 companies from other chapters and each include their own Armoury, Reclusium and Apothecarium. The fourth Priory is called The Grand Priory, which is the Priory of the Grand Master and includes the chapter’s senior ranks. The chapter has a small number of Terminator suits that are used by the veterans of the Grand Priory. Recruitment The ways that the Knights recruit on each planet varies. However while each Priory recruits from all the planets in the system, each one tends to recruit from a specific planet more than the others and this in turn has had an affect on the character of each Priory. Combat Doctrine Due to being a fleet based chapter that seldom comes together in one place, each Priory has developed their own idiosyncrasies. The third Priory which favours assault over ranged fighting, has a higher number of assault troops. Whereas the second Priory which favours long range tactics, has a higher number of fire support troops. Beliefs The people of the Shenandoah system are strong believers of the Imperial Creed and as such they venerate the Emperor as the God of Man and this has influenced the chapter's own beliefs. This has meant that the chapter have a strong and close relationship with the Ecclesiarchy and the Adepta Sororitas an it's not uncommon for the Knights to be seen fighting alongside Adepta Soroitas forces. But as you can imagine this belief has caused them to have a somewhat strained relationship with other Astartes chapters who do not share their beliefs. Battle Cry To date there has been no recorded battle cry. It almost seems as if the chapter fights in silence and communicate via vox when needed. The only time during battle that anything is uttered is when they have to communicate with another force Notable Member of the Shenandoah Knights Grand Master Waddell - Waddell is the chapter's current Grand Master, He is the second to hold the office in the chapter's history. Grand Master Bulloch - Bulloch was the Shenandoah Knight's first Grand Master and was killed in a warp accident upon the Battle Barge Sea King. The chapter's flagship.
  7. Hi Brothers I love the look of breachers, so am planning on having at least 20 in both my Iron Warriors and Imperial fists armies (As well as some Iron Hands breachers to go with some immortals as an allied detachment). I've been trying to read up on the tactica for both these armies, but needless to say with 60 pages each spanning multiple years/editions/points changes/FAQ's, I'm a little lost on what would be decent list wise. For the Iron Warriors I was looking at 2 10 man squads, in dreadclaws, or 1 20 man in a Daddy Claw. No specific RoW in mind here, the theme was going to be boarding assault (so Termies in a Caestus, some tacticals with chainswords in a claw, that sort of thing For the Fists 2 10 man squads, and a unit of at least 10 Phalanx Warders (maybe 20, or x2 10 marines). Was thinking stone gauntlet RoW here, and a storm eagle or two (or lots of landraiders). Praetor was gonna be all boarding shield/hammer with a command squad of power axe/shield guys in a scouting proteus. So my question to your guys and gals, why is a stupid idea and I'm doing it all wrong. What would you guys do? Explain your thoughts behind your actions too please,
  8. I realized I don't post anywhere near enough anymore and usually just do stuff from my phone, but every once in a while I should pop in to show what I've been working on. Since I'm currently stuck at home for the next few weeks due to state lockdown and self-isolation, I figured I'd finish up some Lightnings to use with my Imperial Fists in 30k! I've painted them decently neutral so they can be used in any of my other imperial forces. Calling them done for now, however. Tried my hand at blistering the paint on one of them for a close call look; hopefully it looks alright. Not bad for rescued eBay models!
  9. Hello guys! i am was looking at my techmarine and wondered, do Imperial Fists techmarines paint their armour red or keep it yellow with some stuff painted red? What do you guys think? is there any indication on any book about this? I hope you can help me with this question. Cheers!

A Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists, this is what you get when you try to out-perform Ultramarines and Red Scorpions. The Hammers of Dorn were created in an unknown founding and are known to maintain a friendly (as in for a given definition of friendly) rivalry with the Ultramarines. The Hammers of Dorn are ridiculously compliant with the Codex Astartes to the point that they'll call out the Ultramarines on every divergency from the great book of war Roboute Guilliman wrote. They also extend it to other Ultramarine Successor Chapters. These marines take pride in Rogal Dorn further than any Imperial Fists Successor (as well as the Imperial Fists themselves), for Dorn fought alongside the Emperor during the final stages of the Horus Heresy during the Siege of The Emperor's Palace. This caused them also to believe that while Roboute Guilliman was a great strategist and tactician, only the sons of Dorn are capable of mastering the Codex he written, infuriating the Ultras and their successors (not to mention trying to steal the Ultramarines' boyfriends greatest rivals, the Word Bearers, away from them). Although it would be seen that they fail at trying to look at the Codex as great book of everything instead of a guide on how marines are supposed to be, they actually were pretty successful at utilizing it in a multitude of campaigns (especially the Damocles Crusade where their rapid adaptability actually gave the Tau problems, at least until Farsight cracked the Codex and used it to predict their every action). One would even suggest that they actually read the Codex from cover to cover and learned how to use every tactic in it while also using their brains. Even though they follow the Codex to the letter, they do put emphasis on firepower and protection (hence their frequent use of Devastators, Terminators, Dreadnoughts and Vindicators).
