Well, it's been an awfully long time since I've posted anything of my own, but I'm starting to get a bit more time available for the hobby now. This log is most likely going to be updated sporadically and the background of the force is only vaguely sketched out in my mind, so fluff may be a while in coming. Nevertheless, welcome to my new project log for that most brutal and unrelenting of legions - the Iron Tenth. I leave with you with the first eight members of a Seeker squad, though they are awaiting a fresh shipment of combi-plas with which to destroy the traitor foe:

I am afraid I've caught a nasty case of filthy nurgle-itus! I couldn't resist the new Death Guard Models, I was really inspired by the old Deathguard.org site of Ryan Powell in the early 00's, and thought i'd be really cool to do a CSM force along similar lines in the old legion colours, unfortunately this never really happened and I drifted out of the hobby. I have since returned to heresy era modelling but the awesome new DG range gives me this opportunity - at least until the Emperor's Children are re-done! I wanted to put these guy well and truly in the heresy era, so that I can use them for both 30k/40k i've adapted the base models slightly by de-nurlging them as much as possible. I wasn't a big fan of silly belly mouths and overly 'deformed' tentacles, as I see these as more 'possessed' sort of features. It'll be a welcome change painting up a highly weathered and dirty army after having to be extra neat and clean with my Third Legion pretty boys! Dirty, scruffy Death Guard are just about as far as you can get!!

Hi All, In a similar vein to my last post about Breachers, Tell me why you run Vets, and how you load them out. Looking at the points, a 10 man squad is only 25 points more than a similarly equipped tactical squad at base loadout, but the options you have are wide and varied. So what do people do? I've always been of the opinion you should run a couple of tactical squads, as they're core troops. But looking at it closer, and with the Pride RoW, am I missing a trick? Thanks

Recently while perusing the W.I.P Forums, I came across Kizzdougs' excellent log, and his CSM to Sons of Horus conversion. So, as is the case with hobby butterfly syndrome I decided to give it a whirl. I have some CSM stuff, and some MkIV stuff so I figured I'd give it a whirl. the results are as follows: Now, he's obviously a Traitor late in the Heresy. But the question is which legion does he hail from? I can see him as a Son of Horus, a Word Bearer, or maybe a Night Lord. What do my brothers in the Age of Darkness think? I'm thinking he will be the first in a small Zone Mortalis force, at least for now. We'll see. Thanks in advance for any comments!

As it says on the tin, I'm still just getting into heresy and am looking at expanding my army, mostly in the troops section. I have 2x10 man tac squads, however they seem to be just decent for sitting on an objective and trying to stay alive for ~110pts. Adding extra stuff puts them into the 130 - 150pt range, where we also have assault and breacher squads. So what troops choices do you rely on in games, just tacticals for cheapness, or despoilers to run up the table? reachers for endurance or assaults for mobility? Or a mix of all? In a 3k point game, what would you be taking? Edit: I changed the etitle from "What are your favourite LINE Troops choices" to What are your favourite Compulsory Troops choices as that better defines what I'm after.
