Hello all, I am brand new to the hobby and found myself drawn to necrons for my first army. That being said I might have jumped the gun running out and buying models before knowing what actually works. I currently own the necron start collecting box (overlord,12 warriors, 5 immortals, 3 scarabs, and annihilation barge/command barge) , a doom scythe, a cryptek, and an additional box of 5 immortals. My group of friends that I will be playing with are starting with 500pt armies but plan on expanding to 1500pt as soon as financially possible for the members. The group currently consist of Ultra Marines, Death Watch, Space Wolves, and Tyranids in case that helps with potential advise. With all the context out of the way, I have rough idea for what I want for this 1500pt army but would like to see what more experienced players have to say. If there is anything off or in need of improvement I would be happy to hear. As it stands Battalion Detachment: Dynasty- Sautekh HQ- Lord (Warscythe), Overlord (Warlord, Veild of Darkness, Hyperlogical Strategist, Resurrection Orb, Warscythe) Troops- Immortals x8 (Tesla Carbine), Immortals x7 (Tesla Carbine), Warriors x10 Elites- C'tan Shard of the Deceiver Flyer- Doom Scythe Outrider Detachment: Dynasty- Sautekh HQ- Cryptek (Chronometron) Fast Attack- Canoptek Scarabs x3, Canoptek Wraiths x3 (Particle Casters), Destroyers x3 Point- 1,496 Also as I am new to the forums I was not sure if that was better suited here in in the Necrontyr Army List. If the latter is true I will happily relocate. Thank you for your time, Mr. S

Hi all, I'll pick up a small necron army this tuesday. I only played 1 game with Necrons in 8th so far, at 500 points. I DO have a lot of other necrons already, all in metal. but this one will be my first plastic army :) Since it's only partially painted I might try for something new, bit of a repaint. Hence the ETL header. I already have a lot of dark metal robots and a bunch that look good in bone. Maybe it's time for something else..? And I need some composition help. Here's what I will pick up: 2 overlords (no idea wich ones) Szeras, albeit converted. A bit. 6 wraiths! Yay! Love those things, will definately be in my armylist. 23 warriors 6 scarab swarms catacomb barge, magnetized so it can become an anniliation barge as well. Never used one, guess I want that in the list as well. I am aiming for a 1250 list, but 750 - 1000 - 1250 would be nice steps for me (and my son) to (re)learn the game. I think I have 10-15 metal immortals, I could use them as well. And a lot of destroyers. And of course a boatload of warriors but 23 should be enough. No ships/transports whatsoever though, nor planning to buy them. Or deathmarks. So: Is there an interesting grimdark paintscheme out there? I'd rather not have more metal necrons. Can this list made be viable for normal, casual gaming? I played with the Nephrekh dynasty, more movement = better! I do have a deciever NIB, viable addition? Would love to build the model up and actually USE it. I did read a bunch of tactics/ideas, but I am a bit lost in the woods. Please guide me in how to make a decent list and help me get these necrons back on their red harvest tour... :) That's be awesome. Cheers all, Jan

Hello all, I have been lurking around this forum for a while now and decided to enlist the help of the more seasoned cadavers to help with my re-entry to the world of Warhammer 40k. I was an avid collector up unitl 6 or 7 years ago where I ran out of time and stopped collecting. I have recently resurfaced and would like to carry on where I left off; with a Death Guard army. My idea, which is mostly due to fluff reasons than any knowledge of how to play the game in its current state, is to have a core force of Death Guard which are backed up by some renegades and heretics. I have heard a lot of bad press about the new ruleset for the R&H's, but I am keen to make the combo work. So, my question really is how would I best use this combination? At the moment I have the Dark Imperium DG set, along with a squad of old Death Guard models, a Terminator Lord and a Rhino. As well as this, I put some fair effort into making a Rogue Psyker squad from a plethora of old bitz I had lying around. Any and all help is appreciated! TL:DR; Renegade and Heretics support element to a Death Guard army. How would this work? ~ Skeggold

+ + + Incoming Vox Transmission + + + ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- + + + Greetings Brothers -- I am a newly inducted Neophyte of the Black Templars, following the liberation of my home system by the Tiberior Crusade. I send you this transmission in hopes to advance my training and learn from senior Initiates of the order. The vile alien and heretic are craven in the face of the Emperor, my Brothers, and they avoid honourable confrontation at all costs -- To be expected, as the foes of the Emperor are deceitful and treacherous. Would it be wise to arm ourselves with long-range firepower to crush our enemies from afar, in reproach to these disgraceful tactics? Our armoury boasts a wide selection of destructive armaments, and our unique battle doctrine allows us to equip our Crusaders with the devastating Lascannon and Plasma Gun in a single combat squad. As Templars, we seek nothing more than to purge the unclean with our righteous zeal, however it is necessary that we bring ruin to the enemy's transports and warmachines, that we might take our glorious battle to them. So what say you, Brothers? Have your Crusades found utility in this strategy? I beseech you to impart your wisdom, and await your response transmission. For Dorn, For Sigismund, and For The Emperor! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- + + + + + + End Transmission + + + (Translation, I'm a new BT player and I'm about to make my first purchases to start my army in a few hours. I've already got the Chapter Upgrade, but I don't know whether I should buy Assault Marines or Tacticals & Devastators. I mostly play against mobile, shooty armies like Eldar and Guard in my local meta, who would happily set up on the other side of the table and shoot me to bits before I can get close -- and I would actually like to win some games, so my question is: Do I go with the standard Chainsword + Powerweapons set up, or will I find more success running a shooty build of my own? I'm thinking MSU, Lascannon + Plasma Gun in every squad, mounted in Lascannon Razorbacks. Would you experienced players say this is a more competitive loadout? I'd also appreciate advice on an effective low-points-value army list for me to strive towards so I can start playing ASAP -- say, 1,000 points. Thanks for your help and advice!)
