I know how you've already moved on to the next couple of projects, but I just have to get in some feedback on Khadon Drachstur: I love how, in spite of using some ideas from ElDuderino's and my conversions of the Abaddon model, you have still come up with a model that is very much an original character -- and a badass-looking one to boot! Is that the cloak from the plastic version of Skulltaker? It's a brilliant fit! I am also almost envious of the excellent job you have done making that crest fit on top of the armour.

I do. however, have some minor gripes with the model, which I hope you'll be able to use as constructive feedback: For one, I cannot shake the feeling that the pose was a bit tighter on the first mockup, especially where the orientation of the head is concerned. I would also get rid of the tabard underneath the dangling skulls, because it feels like the fabric takes some of the oomph away from those trophies. And I am actually not a fan of those new-fangled Lightning claws and would probably replace the actual claws, especially the "thumbs" -- but that last concern may just be my personal taste.

Anyway, a wonderfully chunky Khornate Lord in Terminator armour. What's not to like?

I mean, I have to change SOMETHING to make it not a complete plagarization of far better ideas than I can come up with :tongue.:

And yes, that's the new plastic Skulltaker's cloak.

Regarding your gripes, they're valid points. However:

  • First: The pose seeming to be off is because when I did the mock-up, the poster tac was loosing a lot of it's sicking power, which caused his arms to go into the odder pose. When I was holding them to the model without the poster tac, I was able to get the original pose. The head's orientation is also due to that same issue (also due to the greenstuff I used in the neck area to build the undersuit back, but I've been removing it bit by bit to get the head to sit right again)
  • Second: IT'S NOT A TABARD! -ahem- Sorry. :laugh.: And the issue was without the loincloth, the empty space just looked.... Odd to me. I think it's because I'm so used to Chaos Terminators having the loincloth of some manner that none at all, even though he had the belly plate with the skulls dangling on it, just looked like something was missing.
  • Third: I like them better than the ones from the Chaos Lord. I checked to see how those would work and... No. They looked completely goofy with him :laugh.:

In any case, thank you. You always tend to give good points on models.

Khadon is an excellent name

Thank you! I was basically playing around with different sounds until I found one that worked.

Excellent work.

Thanks.

In other news, the Lord Arkos commission is done:

Additionally, I've started on another commission, this time for a different friend, a Primaris'd version of Malakim Phoros, the Lord of Ruin:

And, relevant to the above, something that's been a LONG TIME coming:

I'm an 98% done with Sanguinius (just need to do the glow on the base and fill the empty space below the rocks on his base).

Excellent work on the Alpha Legionnaire.

Thanks!

Arkos looks great and phoros is shaping up nicely. Sanguinius looks fantastic as well.

And because you are the only person I’ve seen with the AL praetor body how does it scale next to a primaris?

Thank you. I'm currently waiting on the greenstuff on Phoros to dry so I can clean it up and get some better sculpting.

And it's... Well, here's the thing. He's the same height as the new Chaos Marines. But the issue is he's got that pose which makes him nearly a half-head shorter than he should be. So he looks REALLY short compared to a Primaris, but that's only a trick of perception due to his low-down position.

Thanks for that! I like the mini and kind of want it but I always worry about FW scale. Understood about the posing him makes him look shorter but good to know the proportions are in line with current csm scale. Unlike the SoH reavers I’ve got that look like mini me. Thanks again for that.

No problem. I'll try and get a picture of him next to some other models next time my friend who owns him is at the same location as me.

Now this is my kind of update. I'm always up for some Night Lords goodness!

Had a feeling you of all people would like this update

And yes, there will be a lot more of the Eighth soon. Friend of mine did an order with Puppetswar and I'm getting a bunch of Night Lords stuff from it. Just have to wait three to five weeks

I'm planning on building pretty nasty 2k Night Lords list, I just need to save up the cash to really start building it.

Your work is amazing Gederas! the converted termies look great on the new kits, then the khadon with the skull cape is just superb.

Sanguinius looks great, the whole diorama is painted to an amazing level. I look forward to seeing the night haunter painted!

Well, obviously. :biggrin.: It will be interesting to see what you do with the puppetswar stuff. Already got concrete ideas for your list?

It's the Vampire and Nosferatu helmets, (5 sets of each, so 25 and 25), 6 sets of the Vampire H.I Shoulders, the Noble Vampire heads (for characters) and two sets of the corpses bundle.

And yes, I do indeed have an idea. Current list idea is:

Battalion Detachment: (Specialist Detachment: Host Raptorial)

HQ: Sorcerer with Jump Pack (Force Axe) - 120

HQ: Chaos Lord with Jump Pack (Lightning Clawsx2) [Relic: The Black Claws] - Warlord (Lord of Terror)

Troop: Chaos Space Marines x5 (Combi-Bolter on Champ, Reaper Chaincannon)

Troop: Chaos Space Marines x5 (Combi-Bolter on Champ, Reaper Chaincannon)

Troop: Chaos Space Marines x5 (Combi-Bolter on Champ, Reaper Chaincannon)

Fast Attack: Raptors x5 (Combi-Plasma, Plasmagunx2 Icon of Despair [Mark of Nurgle])

Fast Attack: Raptors x5 (Combi-Melta, Meltagunx2 Icon of Despair [Mark of Nurgle])

Fast Attack: Warp Talons x5 (Lightning Clawsx2)

Fast Attack: Warp Talons x5 (Lightning Clawsx2)

Heavy Support: Hellforged Scorpius

Heavy Support: Hellforged Scorpius

Vanguard Detachment:

HQ: Chaos Lord

Elite: Hellforged Contemptor Dreadnought (Chainclaws and Soulburners)

Elite: Hellforged Contemptor Dreadnought (Butcher Cannon x2)

Elite: Hellforged Sicaran (3 heavy Bolters)

Of this, I only have the Chaos lord with Jump Pack and Lightning Claws (If you look through my thread, he's seen back when I was thinking of going Word Bearers for my undivided Chaos force) built. I now have two sets of Shadowspear, so I've got at least six Bolter-armed Chaos Marines. Just need to work on making chaincannons for them

Nice! I'm a sucker for all kinds of blue colours, so I have to ask. Which ones did you use? It looks really vibrant.

Your list looks great, too...good mix of marines and dreads/tanks.

Thanks!

And the blue is Calth Blue Clear (two coats) over a metallic base (Iron Warriors > Nuln Oil Gloss > Leadbelcher Drybrush > Ironbreaker Drybrush+Edge Highlight > Stormhost Silver edge highlight). I then toned it down with some Asurmen Blue (Drakenhof would also work) a friend gave me, as the pure Calth Blue Clear over the metallic was hilariously bright. The result is the metallic blue seen here, but darker and flatter than it originally was. However, doing the blue on Curze has definitely given me a good way of doing the metallic on Guilliman when I get him.

And thanks. I can't take credit for the list, my friend who doesn't even play 40k did the majority of the work coming up with it  (but he does play a lot of Company of Heroes, hence the large amount of the armour and artillery).

And a quick update. Nearly done on Curze. All that's left to do on Curze is highlight the bones and his lightning claws, then do some clean-up on the silver trim on his armour. After that, he's technically finished.

I say technically because I have to varnish the model before I add the Blood for the Blood God, as we all know what happens when you use Blood for the Blood God BEFORE varnishing

The Night Haunter and his base are beautifully textured. You're a skilled painter.

Thanks!

Really nice job on the Curze's armor. The metallic blues came out fantastic. I would personally make the bronze darker, but that's me.

Also really nice stone arch :smile.:

Thank you! And the bronze is actually pretty dark, it's just my painting lamp is a daylight bulb and it was probably only four or so inches above Curze's head, so it was making everything super bright.

And thanks, I'm pretty happy with how the arch came out, was not expecting it to have that nice of a result with the Contrast paints.
