In order to keep the Black Rage in check, on the eve of battle the Blood Angels bend their thoughts to prayer and to the sacrifice of their Primarch so many centuries ago. Chaplains move from Frater to Frater, blessing each in turn and noting those amongst the brotherhood whose eyes may appear a little glazed, or whose speech is slurred or over excited. Some, almost all, overcome the ancient intrusion into their minds. Much of the Frater’s training is directed at controlling it, beating it down into the depths of their being, but for some the imprint of Sanguinius is too strong, the memories too loud and demanding. As the Captain Semper dictates the E Tenebrae Lux, - the Bolter and Chainsword’s very own Mass of Doom - the chosen ones fall into the arms of their priests, and are taken away to form the Death Company.

To join the Death Company is to consign oneself to destruction. These Frater seek only to atone for their failure; a last chance at salvation is far preferable to the slow slide into blood-madness. Their avatar is repainted black, and decorated with red saltires that symbolise Sanguinius’ wounds at the Arch Procrastinator’s hands. Honour scrolls are affixed to their signatures, commemorations of their actions in life and affirmations of their worth, even in these dark times.

It is to the Chaplains that the task of leading these lost souls normally falls, for their zeal can cut through the madness of their Death Company brethren and help shepherd them toward the foe. However, strong-willed Blood Angels heroes, and even the gold-armoured Moderators, have demonstrated the ability to direct these fallen warriors into the fight. It is the duty of these individuals to ensure that their comrades’ tragic sacrifice counts for all that it possibly can. After all, every Blood Angel who succumbs is a heroic protector of Humanity, and has more than earned the opportunity to attain peace. Furthermore, the Death Company can be a fearsome and tide-turning weapon if properly deployed.

Honourary Neophytes

However, the Death Company never take to the field alone...

The rage within the Bolter & Chainsword Death Company threatens to consume them entirely. It is only through our assistance and guidance that they can overcome it, something that together we can all achieve. Put your Faction to one side and take to the field with these lost souls, help them cast aside their rage and reclaim their honour; help them finally gain their salvation.

From Rage to Salvation is the annual, casual painting event in the Blood Angels sub-forum with the focus on encouraging the Frater to finish those half-complete units in our collections, or to paint up something new to add to them. This year we support the B&C Death Company (those BA players who failed previous B&C painting events such as the ETL) in helping them to finally complete their vow(s) with encouragement, support and vowing of half-completed stuff alongside.

Perhaps you've still got that copy of Space Hulk which you haven't started, or the models from Shield of Baal: Deathstorm that need some work. Perhaps you've got some unfinished Blood Angels gather dust that could do with being completed. Why not become an honourary Neophyte and lend your assistance?

To enter, all you need is something legally available to Faction: Blood Angels or Legion Astartes: Blood Angels and paint it up (or continue painting it up) before 30th November 2018. Should you achieve this, there is an award lying in wait. For more information, either follow the link above or drop me a PM; we're certainly happy to have you should you be interested.

Looking forward to seeing more 40k and 30k stuff soon!

  • 1 month later...

One month in and participation is pretty decent despite the B&C going offline. Of course, this means there's plenty of room for many more Frater to get involved! It's actually really simple: have you got any Blood Angels to paint from the following systems:

  • 40k (Successors included)
  • 30k
  • BFG
  • Epic
  • KT
  • Space Hulk
  • etc

If the answer is yes and you fancy that project, then head over to the event thread and make a pledge (or send me a PM for more information). Looking forward to seeing you get involved

Don't play Blood Angels, and the only Blood Angel/Successors I've got is already mostly painted and not a legal unit anyway  (my Primaris Deathwatch Sergeant made from Tolmeron). Though this would have been interesting for me if I did more of sons of Sanguinius for the Watch.

Inside the final month of From Rage to Salvation now and there's still time to make a vow; just this week alone we've seen Scout Bikes and Chaplain Dreadnoughts sworn in and pledged as support for the B&C Death Company as they make inroads into attaining their salvation. As ever, completion of a vow earns the Iratus Dominus

attach itself to your signature. Which one will you end up with? There's only one way to find out.
