Oh now that BA one is actually good for me, I actively need an Impulsor, Incursors and Aggressors anyway, so the Intercessors and Librarian are just bonus.

They introduced it with the later Start Collecting boxes, so I am not holding my breath.

Looks like only one upgrade sprue but still fairly flexible, could sell fairly well as its quite generic

BA one looks great, a mix of more useful units, and intercessors with autobolt rifles are still great.

Frankly really outshines the two they just released, maybe they realized at least some folks werent especially pleased?

Sort of figured, was trying to workout the reason for why this one is so much more attractive without resorting to bashing.

 

Also, none of them are painted oddly I noticed. Either a point against its authenticity or the BA will not have a new unit included with it it seems. Doesnt rule out them getting a new unit but it seems worth noting that if they do it wont be included.

They didn't show the hounds of morkai painted on the SW box, even though it's a possible build.

 

Already can build death company intercessors with the 5 in there, as that is already a unit they have.

SW one has the exclusive/not available anywhere else character

DW had emmm 2 characters, 2 upgrade sprues, and was first Primaris DW box I think?

BA prob best value/is generic to appeal to many

 

Think theyre trying to give each of them a USP especially the marines

GW won't be putting any new kits into these boxes. Why would they lose out on releasing a shiny new kit at full price? I don't think any SC box before had new units? They usually want a few months at least of sales before re-boxing things. It's my reasoning for why DA won't get bikes.

Well if the FLGS don't have any its because GW have got very limited supply, I wouldn't be suppressed if Indomitus is still not causing a huge bottleneck, if not in supply but just in Manpower to fill the boxes.

Its true, the Lts are tricky to track down these days

BA one and SW one are good value for Aussies IMO. Basically anything that will have a vehicle/tank/ walkers included as well should be worth it, while straight infantry like the DW box not so much. Doubling up on the BA box would only leave you with a redundant librarian. Interested to see what the DA box will be. The old RW battleforce was great value at the time.

Hopefully the Death Guard one leaks soon! Expecting the DI half but would like final confirmation.

I made some math

Full half of DI would bè around 700 points that is way more than combat patrol

Partial DI like in the "know no fear" starter is around 440 points but of they add the icon bearer and the champion that are separate sprues you have a plague Marines squad of 7 men and the points raise up to 496

But un this way you lose the sorcerer and the bell guy (sorry but i never remember those crazy names GW gave to DG units)

My impression of the boxes sets echoes my sentiments around primaris in general. Lovely models, but so bland. If after 3 years the most flavourful models they can come up with for long established chapters is a rubicon crossing special character and units that are effectively rehashes of other units maybe with an upgrade sprue thrown in (death company, morkai) then that is tragic.

 

I appreciate the necessity for primaris and there’s no doubting the economic prosperity they have brought to the company. I just feel the execution could have been better. One of the main appeals of marines in 40k for me was the divergent chapters and how they did things differently to others. That and marines being clad in armour and weapons. Centuries / millennia old, with each component having it’s own history. Primaris have undermined all of that sadly.

The BA box is disappointingly bland. If you take out the BA upgrade sprue there’s literally nothing about it that’s BA specific of even themed. Even the choice of units seem pretty strange for Blood Angels.

 

It might be a good deal financially but it could be the combat patrol box for literally any chapter and that’s pretty disappointing.

We're probably a year or two off seeing primaris versions of things like Sanguinary Guard yet, unfortunately. It does seem odd that the BA box doesn't have assault intercessors, but eh. A transport and a librarian both fit the chapter pretty well.
