Kill Team - Killzone Expansion Sets

Recommended Posts

Warhammer Community article

Three new Killzone expansion sets are on their way next weekend – for the sectors Munitorum, Fronteris, and Mechanicus. Each includes a double-sided game board and matching terrain. In addition to providing you with a different location to fight over, each set can be combined with any other to form a larger, multiplayer Kill Team battlefield, or even one suitable for Combat Patrol- and Incursion-sized Warhammer 40,000 conflicts.

Tough call.

I just embarked on a huge custom terrain project, so my interest in terrain is limited. The Munitorum one though: I can use more servo haulers for the Saint Katherine's Aegis Thresher Houses. And I have a Fronteris piece from the GSC Kill Team with the Kellermorph- it's nice, but not enough to use on a good size table... Meaning a Fronteris Box isn't a terrible idea either...

I'll also be grabbing fronteris as I was gutted I missed it and eBay can take a running jump.

Does anyone know the board sizes from the sets?

22 x 30

Thank you kindly!

A fronteris set and the container set would be nice compliment for my mek boy lot. Some LoS blocking from both and 2 boards... I'd like pariah Nexus but fomo...

There are a couple of genestealers in the product pic for the 3rd killzone, munatorium. Probably a mistake, but cool if they have chucked in a couple of hazard xenos.

When Kill Team was first released (2018), they released a few individual Kill Team set, they came with a bit of terrain as they were meant to tie in with specific Kill Zones sets. The Kill Teams that tied to the Munitorum zone were a Militarum one (Tempestus Scions) and Tyranids (a squad of Genestealers). So it looks like GW are just recycling the promo images from 2018

oh yeah the mechanicus one for me..it will add neatly to the rest of my terrain, and a cool board as well

I don't know what the goo goo is about the Fronteris set, it looks like bland buildings... (my personal thoughts)

Question - is it because its good blocking of LOS that makes people want it ?!?..

I’ll definitely be getting the fronteris one. Really want those buildings plus need a kill team size board so my best friend and I can play pubhammer when our local reopens and meeting indoors is safe. Edited by Casual Heresy

Well for me it's the bits I need to make all the Ryza ruins I've picked up here and there into a more functional board, the full building, extra ruins sprues and the ruins I already have plus deseert rock formations and it gives me something else to fight over, if we are ever actually allowed to meet up for games again...

The 'allure' of the Fronteris set is the bunker-like building (or rather its ceiling). It is the only box this can be acquired in. The rest is just the Ryza Ruins available separately or in Conquest (and of course the paper based content).

The best value of those three sets used to lie with the Munitorum set, followed by the Mechanicus and Fronteris sets. This was based on their price vs buying everything separately. As far as I know, the price has been raised though (from 65€ to 80€), so it might not be as good a deal anymore and the most 'important' aspect for these sets might come down to the exclusivity of some of the contents. The bunker in Fronteris and the pipes in Mechanicus are not available (anymore or never were) outside of those boxes. Everything in the Munitorum box is still available, so depends on the individual cost vs. the box to make a judgement.

It's basically just because it's got an intact building in the same style as the Ryza pattern ruins. Those ruins have been in a few different things (Conquest magazine, and at least one Kill Team faction expansion) so a lot of people have some of them knocking around, and this set is the only means of getting the building which has never been released separately.

Nice to see these back. I never got around to buying them last time though I did get the last version of kill team (tau/reivers) and I think that had the mechanicus set included.

Be interesting to know the price of these. Were the £50 or £60 last time around? I'd expect them to be more now given price rises since.

Wonder if they'll do similar with set kill teams and terrain again too?

I think I'll be grabbing two of the Fronteris sets for sure. Saw a really nice black paint scheme for them on a blog a while back. Along with some of the extra Mechanicus style terrain they should make for a nice Kill-Team/Combat Patrol board.

Now I just have to convince my Fiancé to sit down and roll some dice with me...
