Iron is only as strong as the flesh that wields it - The Arkifane

Thank you both, very kind!

Maloghurst is slightly taller than CSM, mainly because he's on a little piece of rock, he's not that hunched over to be honest. The resin was amazing for Forgeworld, little to no flash and the details are super sharp.

Work in Progress on this big lad as a treat to myself for getting 20 dudes done :biggrin.:

The metal Plasma cannon and smoke launchers add a lot of weight to him :happy.:

Wow, these are really looking top notch! I agree the Dark Apostle's pose works much better, and I really like his cultist mates. Your Banner Bearer/Chaos Lord works really well, do you have any plans for the banner itself?

So, is that the forgeworld dread with a metal arm?  In any case, you've done a good job repositioning the right leg.  What is the thing it is stepping on from?

That's the Forgeworld World Eaters dread with the old Chaos Dreadnought plasma cannon and smoke launchers. It's on a piece of the Sector Imperialis Large Base Detail kit, I think it's a part of a wall with a Saint on. As with the other models I wanted a wading through a ruined city look to my bases :happy.:

Thanks Perils! I have no idea on the banner tbh. I was going to try and nab an IW transfer sheet from FW anyways so that I can put some legion symbols on the marines' shoulder pads. There's some pretty cool designs on there that I might put on this

Thank you Verlo!

"Ancient Drol fired another burning hot ball of Plasma through the mist and watched as it reduced the rock wall to molten slag and glass. The remaining soldiers behind the remains, to their credit, charged forward with bayonets afixed into the waiting Dreadnought's chainfist"

Ancient Drol, ready to rumble!

I'm moving house this weekend so I won't be doing any more work on my IW but another 10 marines are up on my to-do list!

Thank you Dr! It definitely needs a bit of work, I left it in a place that I was happy to whack down on a table. Theres a few details on pretty much all the models so far I'd like to redo I think. I've got a self-imposed deadline of having the 1K done by the weekend of the 7th for the start of my groups Crusade. I'm in no rush but I figure going back and finishing the odd little bits here and there is better than overwhelming myself! :biggrin.:

I moved house this weekend (32 degree heat was not ideal, damn UK weather!), obviously got my desk/painting station set up. You have to do the most important bits first!

I've made decent headway with the next 10 marines but no light box set up just yet (I have no idea where I put it!), with this heat Contrast paints dry super quickly :wacko.:

I have caught up! Congrats on the successful house move! As for the IWs it's all lovely work and fast too! I like the Apostle, bit late to the party here but the new pose is definitely better  I really like the old FW Dread too - you made the static model look characterful and dynamic. The Plasma Cannon is boss too

Good to see you have your priorities straight  It's not great painting weather but it should be improving over the week, I did some priming late in the evening the other day :tongue.:

The missus just laughed when I finished setting it all up and proudly delcared that I had got the important bit done. Who knew clothes and food were important, eh? :whistling:

Thank you Arkaniss! I really want to get my hands on more of the MK4/5 dreads, I really have no idea why GW stopped printing them :wacko.:

More progess on squad 3, bronze highlighted and yellow blocked in. Silver to highlight, hazards stripes, pouches, grenades, lenses, skin and weird teeth all to do yet:

I also got the Terminators based with the appropriate amount of broken stuff, including a primaris marine :biggrin.:

Thank you DR!

Lucerne, I use:

Basllicum grey contrast all over leadbelcher spray

Snakebite leather for the bronze

Iron breaker for the silver highlights

Sycorax bronze to highlight the bronze

Averland sunset for the yellow

Corvus black for the black

Dawn stone to highlight the black

Evil suns scarlett through to fire dragon bright for lenses with a dot of white

Barak Nur burgundy for the loincloths with a nuln oil wash then highlight with screamer pink

Actually very quick and easy!

Bit of a bumper one for me today, finished the 3rd squad of 10 dudes and finally did the rhino. For an old bird, she certainly scrubs up well!

The rhino was the first attempt at weathering something properly, figured this army wasn't going to have clean armour especially on throw away vehicles like Rhinos!

These bad boys are next on the desk :biggrin.:

They look great - I particularly like the scarring on the sergeant.

One critique is I feel the smoke on the launching missile is too close to the colour of the cowling.  Perhaps lighten it, or put a bit of yellow-orange in the creases of the smoke to represent the flash of the explosive propellant? (not that actual RPGs have that flash, but this is 38K years in the future. :) )

I agree now looking back on it, I'll be adding some lighter smoke colours to get a bit more variety in there! :happy.:

You are absolutely smashing it out of the park. Brilliant work

Thanks Marshall!

I absolutely love the old school Rhino! Great work! Keen to see you paint the Cataphractii up I think they look amazing as IW - will hopefully paint my own soon :smile.:

Thank you man, I was worried that even with the base it would look too small but actually it looks pretty great! :biggrin.:

Great looking warband there! How do you like using the snakebite leather over the leadbelcher, does it cover well in one go? Duncan used the same method and it looks so much easier than using a layer metal. Do you undercoat chaos black before spraying leadbelcher?

I love the modeling and the details in the paint scheme are very nice!
