The signs were there it was to be squats... lots of short, small, big!

The mailing list email title was "A short video and Big news".

As subtle as a noise marine at the library!

Though whether it's true or a Fool's I can't say...

I'm really hoping this is an April Fools double bluff - I've got a couple of converted Squats for my Inquisitorial Warband and would love to be able to expand them out to a LITTLE mercenary band.

Bloody cool video. Never get tired of seeing Imperial star ships

Probably the best thing about the clip was the close up of the wreck.  Really nice I thought.  Will wait until we get past April 1st before I get too excited though.

first it was Sisters, now Squats.  Can the plastic Thunderhawk be far away? :teehee:

So the question is, is it a wind-up for April Fools Day, or Is GW being super subversive and doing an actual announcement of a thing no-one expects them to actually do on a day it will be automatically disbelieved? That would be pretty funny.

The leaked release schedule had squats among the various thing in it...

I think this could be a double bluff... an actual announcement on the morning of April Fools, that would be funny, and I'd tip my hat to GW.

Then again it could just be a rather polished April Fools day joke.

As others have said though, its a lot of effort for joke, and we've had the leaks and some questionable rumour engines that could add fuel to the fire.

I hope its true.

If squats are really back, making them ship salvage teams/void fighting specialists instead of space bikers it's really smart. More believable and way less goofy than the old guys in trikes.

Maybe we'll get a Space Hulk-type game, but with Squats vs. tyranids/chaos.

EDIT: yep, I bet SH or close quarters KT with Squats vs Tyranids are in the menu, note the hormagaunt claw in the video:

Assuming this isn't an (extremely mean!) April Fools' joke, then I'm absolutely delighted to see squats return. As with orks, at their best they balance grittiness and humour, and I'm really excited to see how GW develops and update their aesthetics, character and rules.

"Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millennia cut off from the Imperium and assailed from all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to all."
+ Meditations on Imperial Command, Book XVI. Attr. Leman Russ, Primarch of the VIth Legion+

I had a go at converting my own (there's a tutorial here, if you want to give it a go yourself) a few years back. This might be just what I need to push me into painting them!

I definitely think it's a double bluff.

People have been talking about Squats being all but confirmed due to the Big Leak last year saying they were coming. Hell, they even said they were refusing questions about them at AdeptiCon.

This way, the conversion shifts from "I wonder when Squats will turn up?" and into "If they made an April Fool's video there's no way they're ACTUALLY coming back"... until they actually do come back.

This also gives them plausible deniability to not show off the actual release for a while, whereas any teaser for say... World Eaters would have to come sooner rather than later.
