Legions of the Horus Heresy - White Scars

Zooming in a fair bit, but it seems the praetors from the box have been trimmed back a bit (and had weapon swaps) and don't look too bad really. Would have loved some closer shots of them.

Yeah, the pictured WS army has some nice subtle conversions of the base box.

Is this the one you're after?

It doesn't look like to much work to de-bling the model

Yes, that's great! That looks way better. I think the capes have been removed of both of them and it just cleans them up a bit.

It's a bit odd and a shame that they didn't reveal the Legion trait. I wonder why?

The trait is extremely boring on its own, but can add up for a lot of impact:

+1 movement on everything, roll 2 dice and discard the lowest for first turn and seize.

That being said, the white scars units currently feel a bit WIP. Golden keshig still feel very...unfocused in their role, and are slower than normal jetbikes because of their 2+.

A lot of the power of the legion seems to be bound up in the easy access to outflank and their execution of it. Feels a little one-trick, in a way only BA really follow (as they also seem to be pushed towards reserve charging).

So that power tetsubo is from conversion world i believe and the second preator has bits from the primaris korsarro khan model, specifically the crotch plate

By tetsubo, I presume you mean the massive two handed maul? If so, that bit is actually from a Dark Angels kit. The ravenwing knights iirc.

OK, last time I give these guys a click of they are going to just be annoying as heck.

Just read the rules part and look at any art or painted miniatures in there. There's hardly anything else they're going to say that's interesting to anyone already familiar with the Horus Heresy setting.

Here's the thing, we can crack jokes about elitism (and it was an expensive niche, in an expensive hobby anyway...) but if a company wants to present it's product as a joke, it will be seen as such.

You would think that GW would remember that from AoS, but here we are.

The vast majority of players, are not going to be invested in the lore, are not going to be invested into the setting, and are going to be introduced via WH Community, Twitter, and Memes.

So yes, we can (well not I) decry 'HH Elitism' and have a laugh, but I'd rather they show some respect for the setting.

Now excuse me, while I turn my nose up at their article, and go make a tea.

I personally think some levity is always healthy.

Notice 'some'.

I think the Warcom is generally not very knowledgeable and I don't think it is a shocking discovery that mockery is as usefull for covering ignorance as it is for relieving stress.

My personal preference is 4/5 serious and 1/5 levity.

You can sell people on stuff without sounding like you are trying to sell them tickets for a stand up routine.

But I do think it is a bit of a curve with some people, alot of people are introduced with memes and lowbrow humour to stuff and slowly grow to love and understand the setting. Then you basically grow to apathetic to the humour channels except for the ones you startef with because nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

I do find it weird how many forums I find people being so disdainful of highbrow language and themes in though. Come on folks, pearls and pretty and tea has been a staple for centuries. Nothing wrong them!

That's just my two cents though, I will hardly begrudge those that disagree.

As for the rules themselves, they look fine to me although I must be getting senile because I can't for the life of me remember if the elites part used to be in the Rite.

That paint formula is gorgeous though and seems fairly simple for all that I associate painting white with fear and anxiety lol.
