I take it the unclean one can take the relic that I mentioned on the Daemon Prince earlier? The tier ranking was just based off points and their rules / stats, not based on potential with warlord traits or relics. Also the great unclean one is priced the same as Abaddon anyways, so it "should" probably be as big of an impact on the board as him, and you now have to spend a CP to take a relic if you play by the most current matched play rules.

You seem to know the new rules, how would you rank the 4 greater daemons? Before and after WLT/Relics/Exalted.

Lord of Change

GuO

Bloodthirster

Keeper of Secrets.

Ranking w/O exalted abilities, Warlord traits and relics seem pretty pointless as that's where the combos really shine. Would you rather spend 1 cp on a warlord trait or save it for... What? You can only have one warlord trait too not like you'll dop it on a Herald.

Change with +4 to cast massive aoe spells, flies and can re-teleport.

GuO second as a 'meta pick' able to dumpster otherwise tough cookies like abaddon, ctans..

Khorne beats Slaanesh for two reasons, one is a damage cap exalted ability and the other is wings. We play with loads of terrain so wings is super important.

But Emicus, GuO doesn't have wings. Yeah you're right, but at least the threats he's designed for is melee. A keeper that gets stuck hurts regardless. If the GuO gets stuck but there's no 'I need this guy to counter' you're bummed either way.

Well I care about how they perform without relics and warlord traits too because I plan on mostly using nurgle daemons as allies with my DG versus as a full chaos Daemon army so they won't have a WLT or relic, which could change the fact whether they are worthwhile or not. And it seems without a WLT and relic GUOs aren't as competitive as the others. I pre ordered the codex, I'll find out soon enough myself anyways.

The "have 1 relic" stratagem of daemon don't need daemon being your main faction or a daemon warlord to activate.

"Use this Stratagem before the battle, when you are mustering your army, if your WARLORD has the DEATH GUARD keyword. Select one DEATH GUARD CHARACTER model from your army and give them one Relic of Decay (this must be a Relic they could have). Each Relic in your army must be unique, and you cannot use this Stratagem to give a model two Relics. You can only use this Stratagem once, unless you are playing a Strike Force battle (in which case, you can use this Stratagem twice) or an Onslaught battle (in which case, you can use this Stratagem three times)."

this is current "normal" wording of "extra relic" stratagem. Daemon version don't have the "warlord" part.

Neat!  Oddly, it seems to be broken down by allegiance, suggesting that there is practically no relic limit in a mixed demon list (other than CP and running out of characters to give them to).

this is the "free relic" thing, which is same as any other codex(and will be overwritten by Nephillim book in matched play). it doesn't affect whether you can activate the stratagem in codex.

Chaos knight also have agent detachment abilities, and models in that detachment(as ally of other army) can't use stratagem to bring extra relics, that is because the stratagem itself says:

"Use this Stratagem before the battle, when you are mustering your army, if your WARLORD has the CHAOS KNIGHTS keyword. Select one CHAOS KNIGHTS model from your army. That model can have one Relic of Tyranny, even if they are not a CHARACTER model (this must be a Relic they could have)."

Indeed it does look like you can give a relic to an allied daemons detachement. A little clunky now with the Nephillim changes, with the CP tax its the same difference with the exception that the once "free" relic is locked into pure armies. Skip the Nephillim strat and use the codex strat. An allied HQ daemon just misses out on warp storm, warlord traits, and maybe the special deep strike rules?

I plan to do the same with TSons
