Codex: Chaos Daemons

Recommended Posts

From a commercial perspective, allowing Chaos Marine players of all types to take Daemons should be a no brainer for GW - basically, it'd translate to more sales of Daemon miniatures.

To illustrate, I have Death Guard and Chaos Marine armies, and reading that there'll potentially be rules to allow the summoning of Daemons has got me considering adding 2-4 units (plaguebearers, bloodletters) to these armies. Without the new rules, I wouldn't be interested in a pure daemon army, so that's sales GW wouldn't be getting from me.

That's before your get in to the myriad fluff reasons, nor the simple fact Chaos Marines could have Daemons since waaaay back

If the focus is going to be on mono god factions, then will there be 4 combat patrols released?

There are/were start collecting boxes for each god, so seems a good chance we’ll see different combat patrols.

i think 3rd ed CSM codex had summoning in it for every traitor marine faction. It was pretty good but iirc could be broken.

I am wondering why so many units/boxes are set to "available to order" on the website. A lot of these units are not that old, some fairly new.

Poxbringer
Screamers
Seekers
Seeker chariot
Karanak
skull cannon/bloodthrone
burning chariot/fateskimmer/exalted flamer
Gnarlmaw
Fiends
Slimux
Plague drones
soul grinder
inernal enrapturess
bloodcrushers

blue scribes(finecast)-I get this one
herald of khorne on juggernaut(I think this is finecast)
epidemius(finecast)-I get this one
herald of slaanesh(finecast)-I get this one
fluxmaster(finecast)-I get this one

because GWs product range has long outstripped their capacity for production and retail space.

Makes sense, just seems like a chunky part of the army range.

Being repackaged?

I would like to think so, I am really hoping they change the bases of some of the models. I hate using screamers on those tiny clear bases and large models, makes it difficult to get in base-to-base.

They seem to direct order only a lot of models for ranges that are a little slower to sell, which in turn makes the army sell less.

Given there's a lot of people who had marines & daemons in armies in 8th, it'll be good for them to be able to ally without impact again.

"Time for the angriest of Daemons - Skarbrand!

As is appropriate for Skarbrand, his damage output has gone from "middling" to "through the roof". His bellow has quite literally doubled in potency, and at top profile you get the choice between 9 attacks at S16 ap-4 D3+3 damage ignoring invulns or a whopping 18 at s8 ap-2 d2. His "rage embodied" also remains the same as ever, though the range has shortened a tad to only 6".

The beast is no slouch durability wise either - with 20 wounds, t8, and a 4+ save in both melee and shooting, he's far from easy to take down, but if you're still worried just feel free to deep strike him - everyone in daemons can do that, remember?

Oh yeah one other thing - he's a Warp Locus."

About time! Too bad about his "fluffy" movement stat, but so be it. Those attacks are monstrous, and he actually has enough wounds to maybe survive to swing. Lord of Skulls and Skarbrand in a list? :bunny: Warp Locus on the Lord of Skulls, so ol' Skarbrand can deep strike right next to him 6" away from the opponent (allegedly)! That sounds pretty slick.

Rage Embodied is Skarbrand's "ANGRY YELLING THAT DOES DAMAGE" is it not?

It’s the “everyone’s gonna fight to the death if I can help it” rule:

Sigh, does every new codex have to break the game and be/look beyond broken:facepalm::confused::sad::mad:

Yes they do. Rules on par with a couple of kindergartners one-upping each other on the playground. What a treat it would be to watch the design process unfold.

"I have an INVULNERABLE save!"

"Oh yeah? Well I IGNORE invulnerable saves!"

"Oh yeah?? Well I ignore THAT!"

"Nuh uhh!!"

"Yeah huh!!"

Exactly how I see 9th at this point. Tragic rules, great models though.
