Hearing that next year leading up the launch of the new Edition are going to be some pretty big HQ reveals. Listed them below: Dante Azrael Farsight Named Daemon Prince And the edition is then supposed to wrap up with the return of the Lion. Again, take them for what they are, as I always say, just because I trust the source doesn't mean you have to. I've inlcluded a link to the video in case you wanted more info on the rumoured book series and the models. Dante and Azrael are 2 of the oldest of sculpts still around. Considering that young upstart Calgar has had 2 revisions since 2nd edition, it is time the Angels of Death got some love. You mention that the edition will wrap up with the return of the Lion. Is that 9th edition or 10th edition? I am assuming some sort of Gathering Storm type campaign to herald the Lion's return. I wonder if we will see something like Angron returning and managing to beat-down Guilliman with the Lion cutting in at the last minute to save the day. I remember when they were originally released not long after I got started in 40k (more years than I have fingers to count on), and I had both of them in my collection (I played BA, but had Azrael because I originally wanted to collect DA). That's also the supposed time frame for the Slaves to Darkness release, and the Daemon Prince is coming with them, so it sounds to me like the named Daemon Prince is a specific build for that kit and he'll get rules in the Abaddon book. (Assuming these turn out to be true, of course) Now, the question is, will we also see the rumoured Chaos Bikers the big accurate leak from last year mentioned? Bar the Guard's new tank and the "two new regiments", they remain the one unsolved thing from that list. From what I am hearing the Lion will be the big reveal end of this year, now sure if that is released or not, I would think a release would be cooler. TheMawr Posted October 5, 2022 Share Posted October 5, 2022 I was amused how in your video you mention the lion more as a footnote, and than react super suprised and enthused over Dante... who is more a when-release rather than an if release considering he is in the same category as Mephiston, Calgar, Ragnar, Cypher, Ahriman, Fabius bile etc who all got a release already ;) and we all know deep in our hearts that the named daemonprince will be doomrider, accompanied by the new chaos bikes (and a maulerfiend ofcourse) in a box vs Baharroth, swooping hawks and warpspiders, and it will be called Echoes of the eldritch phoenix storm noises... right ? This is very exciting indeed. I hope Black Library have a bunch of novels at the ready to fully integrate him into the setting in more detail. The reunion with Guilliman, perhaps meeting the Emperor, taking the fight to the enemy, etc etc are all very exciting prospects. And I have little doubt the model will be good. End of-edition campaigns to introduce new characters and/or units outside of the usual release cycle has been standard in both 40K and AoS for several editions now so that was pretty much a given. And both Azrael and Dante are among the oldest models still in the range, so them getting an update has been a matter of "when" rather than "if". The Lion returning... mixed feelings there. That would be a really massive lore development, bigger even than Guilliman returning. Guilliman was a big deal, but in the end just made the Ultramarines into the next level version of what they already were. The Lion's return would be a fundamental shift in what the Dark Angels are, because it would have to culminate in a final conflict with Luther and the Fallen. That, and no one besides the Watchers even knows the Lion is alive, so he would have to pop up out of nowhere like Kuni from UHF.
