Kill Team - Gallowfall (Terrain teased page 4)

Recommended Posts

I was already onboard for the Fellgors, but those sprues really excite me. I know it might not be the most popular Kill Team this season, which to be fair it is hard to compete with the Kasrkin and Arbites in terms of fan favorites. But for me this is nearly as exciting as the new Kroot.

i just wish there was a few ranged options to vary it up.

I also found the distinction between the BSF Beastmen interesting, so apparently Beastmen auxilia still exist lorewise. Perhaps a new close combat infantry for the guard? Maybe this new detachment system will allow guard players to run full Auxilia detachments

@Mr Farson

It is strange they didn’t go with a dual kit, and also hilarious as to this day I have to listen to other TS fans complain about Tzaangors being imported from fantasy (which isn’t true)

I'm not massively keen on either of the kill teams, but I like the bespoke terrain and I need another set of the base gallowdark terrain so I don't need people to bring their half to play boarding actions, at which point you might as well buy the box if you can get one....

Missed opportunity not making it an aos / 40k dual kit tbh.

Curious as to the rules as they will have to be proper good to compete as a melee only faction

Outside of Daemons, dual AoS / 40k kits never manage to nail either aesthetic in my opinion, so I'd much rather they focus on giving us good 40k beastmen than some half-and-half kit that could pull double duty in AoS.

I get that, but these Beastmen really are close to the AoS aesthetic. Which is fine for me, but it strikes me as odd they didn’t go for more of a BSF aesthetic

Nice looking sprues. Chaos is high on my priority list of projects but I would like to get into them some day, especially if we see a lost and the damned book and these guys would be great for that. I particularly like the look of the hammers in there and the big 2 handed weapon. I wouldn't be building these guys as specialist but I will mix in some of the parts like the gas mask and bionic arm. If I can get the bionic arm, gas mask and plasma pistol in on same mode that would make a cool unit leader.

Yes, they definitely could have leaned into the BSF beastmen aesthetic more to really differentiate them as being 40k beastmen. As it stands, we've got something that seems to have one foot in the 40k door and one foot in trying to be a dual-system kit, without the full benefits of either approach.

It's a new era of kits now, Brayherds (AoS beastmen) will get a revamp at some point and those players will be pleased not to have loads of useless guns and cyber parts, while 40k players can enjoy not having stone weapons and bows and spears taking up space on the sprue. The kits will no doubt still be useful for both systems with appropriate kitbashing :)

I just need to work out how to give them rifles to use them as guard lol

The bsf beast man arms were quite simian and long, can anyone think of appropriate swaps for shooting poses?

That means it's going to disappear from the webstore in 30 seconds, I'd better get ready to wait 6 months for the Fellgor kit to get boxed up separately.

Speaking of, though, notice how all the specialist components are on their own sprue? I assume there's going to be a rank and file version of the kit for 40k, which would make this a weird case of a squad kit getting an upgrade frame for Kill Team before it's released without it.

That is actually quite common, the blooded and noviatates have the KT upgrade sprue seperately too.

And I dont think the wait will be too long, the roadmap mentions individual team releases in summer, and I dont think they mean just the hands of the archon.. I assume its also these 2. (as the others have already been released individually.)

See, I still want a dual kit... But I want to be able to make more than one 40k unit- like Corsairs, which can either be regular old Corsair troops, or Elite Voidscarred.

Indications seem to be that this could COULD be used that way; whether or not GW gives us rules for two units is another question.

Same with Navis Breachers and IIRC Kroot too

Also did they really need to show the side of the sprue where we can't see the faces of the Heads?

Given that the alternative is that they show the side of the sprue where we can't see the detail on the backpacks or the outside of the arms, I'd say yes. But then again, all my Votann have helmets on, so the faces are unimportant to me.

Arguably, showing both sides of the sprue would be best, but then I am sure we would have people stating that they'd come with two sprues...

Judging by how the Q&A question regarding new LoV units was answered by saying this was coming out, I reckon that we'll get Salvagers unit rules for 9th/10th.

Looking at the other Kill Teams and what bits transferred to 40k, I'll be surprised if Salvagers end up their own unit. The rotary cannon being an additional heavy weapon option for Warriors and the Jump Pack being it's own, new unit (with accompanying squad release) are all I see making the jump over. Everything else just seems like visual upgrades.
