I dont love these cataphractii, but frankly I've got too many of the Tortuga Bay ones sitting in my pile of shame anyway so I wasn't going to get them regardless. The Breachers however I think look great and I will be grabbing those down the line.

really disappointed with the terminators.

Aesthetically they are just a downgrade and honestly not worth the change for approx. 1mm increase in height. Il stick with the current ones with a spacer.

The breachers are similar tbh i dont like the helmets, the og ones with the armoured faceplate were a better design that felt up armoured.

The box moving from a full squad down to half a squad is a back step and not what i want at all.

Every step seems to be against what made heresy better than 40k.

Swing and a miss for me on the catas, the current ones were pretty perfect and a classic kit, amazing and bulky. They just needed to make them slightly bigger. Agree with Mandragola, why not 5+ options instead of 6. Just a weird choice.

Possibly it’s a duplicate of a sprue of 3?

Sorry if I have missed this but is there a scale shot of the new vs old terminators?
I have plenty of the previous ones that I am not rushing to replace but I might want to add a few more squads at a later date but that may depend on how bad they look near each other.

Both cataphractii are close enough to each other that they won't stand out too much next too each other. You'd probably get the same height from the old ones by adding a slice of sprue to where the torso is glued to the waist.

If that is accurate, it really is fractional, so a tiny sliver of sprue or ball of green stuff up in the waist joint might be the way to go with the old Cataphractii I have kicking about.

Also - I note a complete absence of plasma blasters.

I suspect a Terminator weapons sprue may be lurking about.

as for the breachers - you had me at "Bolters with drum mags".

Will the shoulder plates be easier to put on the models compared to the old version? If you didn´t pay attention then you could screw the position of the plates up during assembly.

I like the breachers, not the biggest fan of the helmets, but that's probably just something I'm going to keep the old head for.

I don't hate the cataphractii (I'm definitely going to pick some up for my White Scars), they did lose bulk. I've been comparing to the old cataphractii, and I think I know the 2 things that bug me. 1) The chestplate tapers down when close to the waist too much. That makes the midsection look skinny. If it was still a bit chunkier in the middle like the old version, that'd probably feel better. 2) Power fists definitely need to be more imposing. They look like the old caestus from roman times, which is not bad, but they are barely any bigger than normal hands/arms.

I do like the weapon options for cataphractii. Nice to see power weapons and volkite, and maces are my favorite (even before this edition). Combi-bolters look cool as well with some being drumfed, and others having ammo belts dangling for more of that classic "chaos" feel

Should be accurate. minicompare does have the occasional wonky model, especially if it's 25/28s, 60s (which aren't actually 60mm) or a baseless model like a vehicle without clear way to infer dimension or too much of an off angle picture.

40s are pretty easy to spot, so keeping them all in line is comparatively easy it seems.

I definitely don't hate the Cataphractii, but am concerned as to when and how the other weapons are going to release and what it also means for a Tartaros refresh when that comes around as they're my preferred mark.

I do think it's funny how the size differences are really in the eye of the beholder. Several people find it a tiny increment, but I think the size difference is pretty substantial (and needed when compared to the mk6).

Wonder if the chest piece of the old cataphractii would fit on the legs of the new ones... That would make the best of both worlds I think.

When I saw this, I was thinking "This is a cool way to have a Nullificators squad". But Nullificators are no longer in the Legacies document 3.0, aren't they?

Maybe GW is going to resurrect this unit...or not

Anyway, those power mauls are quite curious to me, so different to other actual models in the Horus Heresy range.

There is a rumor that some legion specific cataphractii will get kits that have a sprue that goes with, these, and others might get a release in a journal with kitbashing advice and rules but no model. So maybe they are coming?
