The Grizz's BLood Angels

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, rather new to the forum, and figured i would start chronicling my Blood Angels Army as i went along. I started into BA a short time after the codex came out, having played Ultramarines since the beginning of 3rd Ed. Once i saw the BA model range and got a feel for how they played, i knew i had to get them. I felt my Ultramarine army was good and fun and all, but it lacked the assault capabilities that i yearned for. Everything i wished my smurfs could do, the blood angels could. So i began the arduous task of painting their blue pants red.

I knew i wanted a jump pack force, as the effective range and mobility excited me. So i reckon we will start in as good of a place as any, with the assault marines.

well, this is where i started, bought some new preds, slapped them together, and got a bunch of half put together RAS second hand.

I'll go ahead and apologize for some of the picture quality, as some were taken via phone.

and those lil black and red headless fellas turned out like this

Paintjob

- white basecoat

- mechrite red

- drybrush red gore

- drybrush blood red

- badab black wash

After playing a few games, i decided that every BA Army needs a good beatstick, and who better to do that than the ol' SANGUINOR!!!

Not bad though you really need to drill out your gun barrels!

yeah, i need to do that, its one of those small things that make a big difference!

Im still in love with you Storm Raven It's truly a work of... erm' art

nicely painted red buddies you've got there. I like you idea for the blessed sgt may i use that idea?

yeah, the ol' ugly ducklin, gotta love it.

yeah i got tired of forgettin which sarge was the blessed one, so i figured that way, i couldn't forget. Have at it, and post some pics of him! :D

I love the Death Company Dreadnought. I've been working on making one of my own. I am wondering if those claws came with the model or if you converted them yourself! I am currently trying create my own claws for dread but without much success..... :) :D

I got him off Forge world, he is listed as a chaplain dread, and i got the arms & talons off of there as well. The new BA Dread kit coming out Feb. 5th is gonna have a pair of claws in it, so that is always an option as well :)

@vharing - thanks alot, i am very happy with the way the DC turned out as well, they are probably my favorite that i have done, and really they weren't that bad to do!

ok, got started on the dread for my LPC, using a AoBR dread and a homemade ML arm, will replace it with a GW arm, just havent yet.

So first thing to go was the ugly lil star thing on the right side of the sarcophagus

med_gallery_59037_5603_263008.jpg

I glued on a more fitting Blood Angels Symbol, and painted all the hoses, wires, and such

med_gallery_59037_5603_679696.jpg

then i went about painting up the whole thing

med_gallery_59037_5603_661276.jpg

now all she needs is a badab black wash and we'll be a third of the way through my LPC! :D

i took a picture of my other dread that i have already done. This is what my LPC dread should turn out like (Hopefully!)

and after looking at my chappie DC dread, i decided he needed a lil color so i decided to paint his wings to match the rest of my army

gallery_59037_5603_1052413.jpg

and a close up

ok, for the last part of my LPC, a librarian. Well i decided that i wanted a JP libby, that way i don't have to waste a power on WoS. Well i got one of the old Libby models that i have had forever, just never done anything with and decided i'd start using him.

Problem is, his staff arm is too high for a jump pack to fit without being terribly crooked. So i thought one of the SG jumpacks with the one intake might fit better. Close but no cigar, so i ended up havin to make a greenstuff spacer

With that out of the way, the JP fit pretty well

Then, i took a bolt pistol from the DC box and this is how he ended up so far

next comes the paint. What do y'all think? Does it look ok, or scrap it and start over?

I love that Librarian model... for some stupid reason I chopped the force-weapon arm off of mine many years ago and haven't had the motivation (or skill) to fix it with conversions and green-stuff.

I think the JP with wings looks perfect but his feet look a little too flat-footed if you know what I mean. Really not a big deal or anything. Maybe if you just did something with the base though, if you have time... I am scrambling for the Vow as well.

Here is what I did with my Librarian... I chopped off his feet and used green-stuff to make them look more jumpy:

Oh, man that libby is sweet! i may revisit mine to do some leg work, but for now he'll just be ol' flatfoot :P

Well, my LPC is finished

Here are some shots before wash

And after, i think he looks a lil better in real life, i need to get a better camera than my phone ^_^

and after wash

C&C welcome :D

Wow. I always thought the base Librarian models were too static for my tastes, but the jetpack adds a lot to it. Funny how big an impact the wings make.

Also, you know I never thought of making a unique "chosen by the Sanguinor" model to represent who got the blessing. It's a great idea and consider it stolen.

Really like the paint job on most here, but your bases I'm sorry to say really let the whole model down. They would all be more awesome if even basic flock was added. I'll admit I haven't read most of the thread, just looking at the models so I don't know if you are planning to go back and flock them all. Other wise good job.

yes the bases are gonna be done, i was trying to get 2000 points finished by this weekend, so i was just doing a basic paintjob on the base, but yes they will be based :)
