This is my first space marine army. When Anphelion Project came out in 2006 it sparked my interest and I set about making some of the units required to play the scenarios described in the book. Of course, it has since grown way beyond that into a full blown army, but here is some of my early work. The project is ongoing and I'll update new work when I can.

This is Apothecary Rael. I jumped right into the deep end for my first marine model: a leg reposition, custom narthecium arm, greenstuff sculpting, brass etch symbols, homemade decals, etc.

As per the army photos in Anphelion, and subsequent IA books, all my Red Scorpions will strictly follow these build guidlines (with very few exceptions): All legs are of the knee-pad variety; Mk IV or Mk VII armour and helmets only, and all Mk VII is of the winged skull variety; all bolters are imperial eagle or special RS symbol; all barrels are drilled; purity seals must abound. My look is intended to be of the 'better than average' standard, but I am no expert painter and lack the skill/patience of some of my fellow hobbyists (more power to you). I want them to look 'real.'

Note: some of my pics show as being very glossy... they aren't that shiny IRL.

what additions will you be making to this force?

Basically everything. ;)

Brother Halar, as described from IA4, was killed in action on Anphelion:

Hold this bunker! The rest of your squad is already with the Emperor!

YES! This is good stuff! Where's the tanks?!

I have 3 or 4 rhinos/razorbacks, 2 land raiders, and a predator all in various stages of construction or painting. This is the only tank I have complete:

Tho now that I'm looking closely, I see it still needs a lot of highlighting and detail. Darn.

I'm converting most of the Space Hulk terminators to Red Scorpions. Of course all Blood Angel iconography has to be removed/replaced. Here's a current WIP of my favorite conversion so far, in early stages of painting:

That termie ripping up the floor has always bothered me, it seems silly. Since Red Scorpions are all about the apothecaries, this guy is now a caring medic administering battlefield aid. To make it work, I had to completely remove both arms, and build a custom narthecium.

EDIT July 2015:

Finally finished this guy.  I'm inserting a shot of him here for relevance:

I'm impressed with the example: I love it when there is a break from the norm and the Apothecary's Rhino is it!
Thank you very much. All I did was copy the picture in IA4... take a look at page 69 when you get a chance. Also, Brother Halar (the dreadnought) on p. 68.
I know you are working on the Anphelion Force ... got a Thunderhawk over there? :D
Ha, I wish. No, not yet.

I think this captain makes a better Culln than the FW model... at least he's holding a big enough sword!

Cheers.

I did decide to make a few retro heros in old White Dwarf armor, just for kicks:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h79/aguave5150/DSC03148.jpg

And THIS pattern for my Vanguard Vets (Angstrom pursuit squad camo, I believe it was called):

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h79/aguave5150/DSC02703.jpg

This was an ambitious squad for me. Legs need to be greaves, so some of them are custom; the center-of-chest detail gets replaced with a grille, and the eagle wings hidden behind the straps must be removed; studded shoulderpad gets new stud layout using brass rivets; right shoulderpad gets its border trimmed off so it's flush; beakie Corvus helmets; several magnetized arms; scenic bases.

Thank you. I am really enjoying the SH models, they add some real flare to the army. I'm working on two more right now, the TH/SS sergeant and the librarian:

As always, all blood droplets and chalices must be removed. I'm going to attempt to convert some of those blood drops-with-wings into eagles... we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for your comments!
