Metal Apostle
Continuing from my LPC start on my White Scars i've started painting again recently. I'll most likely also make a display thread in the HoH when these are finished and I can officially call it an army (I didn't have an HQ model til now ;)) Not very well thought out photos I admit, but figured i'd throw them on anyway. On the painting table is another 5-man flamer/powerfist bike squad, 5 quad bikes to count as my 'troop choice' squads attack bikes, and my command squad company champion who will count-as Khan/commmander until I get the rest of the command squad (aka. Mounted Vanguad hahaha) and a badass mounted khan model :) Without further ado; Already done with the more tedious parts of white, black and tin bitz. Now just finishing off the metallics before moving onto the more fun bits like the leathers and red bits. Metal Apostle
Thanks guys for the comments; more pictures to come in the next day or so. Made a lot of progress whilst the missus was away! Â Anyway, yep, the ATVs were pretty much copied off somebody else's White Scars and yes they count as my attack bikes for the squads which i use as troops. My rationale being that they're a little more terrain hardy and "tactical". They will carry the single arrow, tactical marine squad markings. I also have normal attack bikes to be used as attack bike squads, which to my understanding are the White Scars devastator squads mounted; as per IA White Scars, they carry the heavy support squad markings. Â I largely followed this tutorial when building them. With the main difference being that I'm cheap so i used plastic rod in place of the power axes and I used plastic tube in 6 pieces for the exhaust. Also, i cast the front wheel along with the armour plating around it to be used as all 4 wheels. This gave me the chunkier, space marine feel to it. Â More updates very very soon! possibly tonight! Metal Apostle
As promised, here's an update of this lot of bikes. I had a little bit more time on my hands these last two weeks and i've managed to do a fair bit. Finished off the metals, did all the leathers and all the reds too so they're actually starting to look more like White Scars. Right now i'm in the middle of going over the black parts like wheels and gun casings, to be highlighted with Vallejo dark grey and maybe some codex grey. After which, i'll do faces and details (grenades, lights etc)... Keep watching! Bike squad and champions bike Quad bike (count-as attack bikes attached to Troops choice bike squads) Riders And of course, Veteran Sergeant, Company Champion and some other guy.. Metal Apostle
Finally finished this batch of bikes! Warning about the mass photos i'm about to post.... Group shot of this lot Bikers Some bikers with my Company Champion who will also stand in as my Captain until I paint up a command squad and build a more impressive Khan ;) And my quad bikes which count as attack bikes who are attached to my bike squads. I love the attack bike models but they'll be in 'attack bike squads' whilst these guys are a bit more 'tactical' if you know what i mean When i compare these guys with my last batch/rest of the army, i think i went too heavy on the weathering and will need to cut back on it a bit for my next lot. It's not exactly a process i can reverse but it's ok i suppose; some marines get dirtier than others..... Cold Fire
Love the quads! I have been looking at doing an Attack Bike conversion to quad and checked out the Tutorial on this site. But seeing yours with the weapon on the front looks pretty cool. Any Chance of sharing how you did the front half of the bike ans the back half looks the same as the tutorial I was looking at. Muzza
Looking good. I wasn't too sure with the first few pictures as the white looked a bit flat, but with the added dirt\damage it looks very good. Keep up the good work. Metal Apostle
Signed up for LPC! Gets me off my butt to get some stuff painted. This time i'm gonna be finally building and painting my command squad and khan on bike. That way, i'll finally have an HQ and actually USE my army. I've built my command squad but haven't taken pics yet so they'll have to come later, but for now, check out the progress on my Khan! It's a big conversion job but as the Khan of the mighty 2nd Brotherhood (for those following my 1st Brotherhood, it's only a logical step down hahaha..) i think he deserves the attention. I've already done more work to him at time of writing this, but here's where he was as of a few days ago. A lot of different parts went into this one (see what you can identify!) so thank GW for liquid greenstuff! That sure came in handy  Much more to come. Metal Apostle
Just posting a quick update on my Khan. I've developed his head/hair a bit more; added more bits to the bike and put on an armature for his cloak (and started adding fur on one side too!). Definately coming along now. Next update, i hope to have him completed and ready for painting and i'll show the command squad too.... They've been built but i've been too lazy to take photos of them. PS. Sorry about the poor lighting, but I figure it's still WIP. As long as you can make out what's going on :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236635-metal-apostles-white-scars-thread/#findComment-2997654 Share on other sites

Metal Apostle
Thanks for all the supportive comments guys. This LPC is definatly putting me to work. I started painted yesterday but here are some pics from the day before that! It's the command squad in their greens stage, just before going for a spray. First up is my rather un-White Scarry Apothecary. He will be mainly red with a white arm and a few other pieces of white armour on him. This white will also be a more neutral, "codex" white as opposed to the more earthy white i'm using as my main white scars colour. He will be red as indicated by rogue trader, and since it has been a few millenia since, my post-herasy take will be slightly different, but still red. Next up are my two veterans with lightning claws and stormshields. The Storm Shields are cast by me of some original, mongol style shields i wanted for my first brotherhood "Stormwing"; and details can be found on that B&C thread. My standard bearer And finally, completed details on Urumtai Khan, master of the 2nd brotherhood! I've added a a chapter badge, and a whole lot of fur to his cape. So this is what i vowed to have painted by end of the month! Metal Apostle
LPC 2012 Update number 3 As life gets in the way here and there i'm finding myself behind schedule with my challenge. Right now it's possible to finish but i really should dedicate more time to it! So here are the boys with a bit of paint on them... I'd say i'm at about 70% done at this stage. Whites, metallics, browns all done and currently about 80% of the way through the reds. Might seem as though the hard parts are over but there's still details, basing and of course, banners!! With only 2 weeks left, I had better start thinking about what tute to write D: Anyway; Veteran 1 Veteran 2 Banner Bearer Apothecary; who uses a different shade of white (and with more red on him; as per Rogue Trader imagery... Not using the exact scheme from back in the day but a few millenia tends to change fashion trends ;)) Khan (more gold on him as this is the 2nd Brotherhood) Khan bikes and details Thanks again for the support so far! Really hoping to meet the target! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/236635-metal-apostles-white-scars-thread/#findComment-3018386 Share on other sites

Metal Apostle
Oh man.. it is very very late here where i'm living, but incredibly, i've managed to finish my LPC!! Skidding in to take objective at the last minute are my White Scars Command Squad and Master of the 2nd Brotherhood, Urumtai Khan! Riding upon his iron steed, Starbreak, is the captain: The Standard bearer: The Apothecary: Veteran 1: Veteran 2 (inspired by a Wolverine trick in the X men Origins): Group shot! Will probably shoot them with the dullcote evetntually but otherwise (but still unbelievably) finished; thanks for watching!
