Maligoare
For the last year or so, I have been slowly and quietly gathering more and more Space Marines and components from various friends. Having sorted them and realised that I could make up about 70 Marines, I thought it was about time I got painting them. Using the new codex rumours, I intend to pick the models and rules which best represent the Deathwatch to me (the Sternguard were just screaming out for my attention), and try to weld them in to some sort of usable army. I will try to update this with new pictures, in the hope of actually motivating myself to paint faster than usual (who knows, it might even work!). So, first up are the Sternguard. All of them are conversions using only the plastic kits and a little greenstuff. C&C are of course welcome, and I would also appreciate your ideas for how I should base them (lava, snow, desert, whatever you think would set them off well). Yep, it is a beastman in Guard's clothing... http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/7766/beastmanacolytefrontwn9.jpg http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/2281/beastmanacolyterearow2.jpg Enjoy, and more images will be posted as I get further along. The Vanguard veterans should be constructed soon! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145023-wip-deathwatch-army/ Share on other sites
lord_bunny
They all look well converted, and the paintings good :) why a beastman in the ordos xenos? Is'nt that a bit, weird? Khrangar
It doesn't seem weird at all since Xenos'd have contact with various alien races and may get some to work for them. It'd be wierd if Malleus or Hereticus had xenos allies. Good idea for an army, and with the new Sternguard rules, it should be easy to make an effecting Deathwatch army. lord_bunny
I though Xenos followed the whole ideal of the imperium, KILL! (;)) I guess the inquisitor could be radical, but could he still use deathwatch? Like how radical ordos malleus can't use the grey knights? still, fluff is but a mere obstical, so it should get in ze way of cool models! Like him. Maligoare
Thanks for the comments. I suppose my Inquisitor is a little bit Radical, but only when the DW are not looking... I'm sure I have read of a couple of places where mutants are allowed to function in Imperial society, albeit as the lowest strata. If Eisenhorn can encounter a guy so mutated he resembles an elephant, I reckon the Inquisitor might get away with using him as cannon fodder. I intend to use the beastman mostly in smaller battles where the DW may not be present, but that relys on me making up enough Stormtroopers! King Vyper
They all look well converted, and the paintings good ;) why a beastman in the ordos xenos? Is'nt that a bit, weird? Once Upon a time Imperial Guard Armies had Beastmen as a troop option. They were led by commisars and were fanatical. It was in either Rogue Trader or one the earlier books. The Drake of Nocturne
I like the conversions but do you thin down your paint ?because some of the paint looks a bit thick. Maligoare
Thanks guys, and you are welcome to the gunblade idea; after all I did borrow it myself! ;) I was thinking it could end up counting as a Relicblade, but I am not sure whether the Vanguard options let him keep a pistol. Drake: No, I don't, but perhaps I should start. Maybe it is just the little bit of photoshop work making it look like that though?
