hagg
After a few Weeks on my painting desk I managed to finish this really nice model. I really enjoyed painting him. I'm sorry for that blurry pic, i had to take it with my mobile phone. ~hagg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/ Share on other sites

GumbaFish
I like what I see so far, and if you have the time I would like to see a pic of his back to take a look at the cloak. It appears like you made a pretty convincing camo pattern on it I'd like to examine for some ideas on how to paint my own scout cloaks. MithrilForge
ooh i love this guy! very sombre and the black facial hair looks better than the original :tu: even though the camo scheme reminds me of floating shiitake mushrooms i still dig it :P excellent model overall (must go and buy this model) mithril p.s im not up on Ravenguard fluff/jokes, whats the relevance with "accipio" :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/#findComment-1778259 Share on other sites
orphanfeast99
u do know what accipio means in latin right? it means "receive" not that thats a bad thing, just saying Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/#findComment-1778340 Share on other sites

hagg
u do know what accipio means in latin right? it means "receive" not that thats a bad thing, just saying yes i know, i first want to take accipiter??? as base for his name because i thought falcon would be a cool meaning. but i think, that accipio sounds a lot better and to recieve is what he does, he recieves the aspirants o make them marines at least :) he was the last scout i had to paint for my raven guard strike force and he was a really nice one to paint an work with. it is always a good thing to work with an extremely well sculptured model (even if the bolter does not fit without bending). ~hagg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/#findComment-1778605 Share on other sites

I recognized accipiter as being the basis of his name. I didn't know that "Accipio" was actually a word in Latin. On a diffrent note, I think it's intresting this guy's the only marine I know of that sports facial hair and isn't a Space Wolf. Brother Shrike
It technically means "I receive" (1st person singular), which is kind of fitting for a scout sergeant who receives all of the new recruits (at least in the old fluff before they mangled it by changing what order you go from squad type to squad type :nuke: ) :nuke: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/#findComment-1779543 Share on other sites
orphanfeast99
hm, guess ur right about that, it does kind of fit, either way i wasnt complaining just trying to enlighten sombody, once again, i was "just saying" anyhoo, great model, in my oppinion the paint job and beard make him a TON cooler than even the Evy' metal exemplar, good work!!! Tyrannicide
Nice work, hagg! I think the black beard does wonders on this model. I'm not sure why. :) Anyways nice painting, and his cloak looks great. Ganeos
Good work! I've seen this model done for a couple of chapters now, and everytimes he's great! Your urban is really good! As are your colors. Job well done. But I have a request : can you tell me how you did your Raven Guard icon on the shoulder pad? It looks like free-hand, and if it is, it's reaaaaaaally good. Can you give me some tips on doing that icon please? Can you post the complete squad? I think a lot of us would appreciate. hagg
i have no pics of him and his squad i can post only this old one of his squad: the raven guard icon on his shoulder pad is a free hand, the key is practise, and the seperation of the icon into geometrical tiles. if done correctly the whole icon is only a few strokes with white and black color ;) i cant explain it better, there is a reven guard icon tutorial in the hobby section of the librarium, there you could find some better information :) and many thanks for that nice posts ;) ~hagg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152626-raven-guard-scout-sergeant-accipio/#findComment-1786990 Share on other sites
