Pre Heresy Dark Angels scheme

Hi, I just need advice for the painting of the PHDA scheme, since I don't know their history much. Is it the following:

But I've seen mentions of Jonson having a 'Favoured' cadre (basically the ones he took to Diamat) which were coloured the Dark Green. I'm basing my army around Nemiel, and want the above to be him (Or as close as I could get) and I need to be sure.

Cheers in advance guys

@Skirax:

Nice idea, using Nemiel, though I'd have preferred Zahariel. Anyways, your scheme looks good, but there are a couple of things to note:

- Nemiel probably would never have worn the MkVI "Corvus" (Beakie) pattern power armour suit, more probably the MkIV "Imperial Maximus" or even the MkII "Crusade" armour.

- The yellowy stripe on the helmet looks good, but I don't recall the Dark Angels having that...is it a nod to the later Deathwing bone colour to make him look more veteran-y?

- The white shoulder pad trim. I dunno, it somehow doesn't look right...I think it should be black, don't recall anyone ever saying the Dark Angels had a white trim. But then, possibly different companies had different trims, so I guess it's ok...

Not the favorite Marines wore there shoulder green but the Marines who are from Caliban.

The Terran Dark Angels are all black and the Caliban Dark Angels wore there shoulder with there badge on it green to honour there forest planet Caliban.

It was an order given by the Lion himself to wear it green.

Well, I'm not going to do the Green thing, because I like the sinister look, but I also have a dilema with the robes; do I leave them black to give a really sinister scene, or cream to make them the true to fluff?

I think either way would be true to the fluff. 2nd founding successor chapter the Angels of Vengeance is described as having the original Legion's colours, and they are described as having their robes black. So black robes in my opinion isn't really stretching the fluff that much.

Check out this thread

The things to note are that the Chapters wore there Chapter Symbols on the Right pad as opposed to the left side which in now (since V2) in vogue. Also the DA Icon was red at the time. and Beakie helmets were in.

As far as the Helmet stripe, it was used as a signifier of rank in one form or another. Robes, again another GW inclusion post-heresy.

It is your army though do as you see fit.

I'm going to post a picture, hopefully tonight, of his current progress because I really can't decide on these robes! *wracks brain*

I know that the Legions wore the badge on the right pad, rather than the left. I didn't know that the DA had a red symbol. Beakie helmets were in. Good, because I've got about 4 Beakie Legionnairres primed or in WE colours.

I'm not going to use the stripe, I've decided.

I'm thinking about trying to get away with red robes...

Well im doing pre-heresy dark angels, a nice way is to have black armor with a boltgun metal trim on a few random shoulder pads, the rest should be black. I think in RT they showed Dark Angels in black armor with red stripes on there helmets i tried that i didn't like it too much.
