S. Bloodhowl
Well, here we go. I'll be (kinda) quick here so as not to bore you. When I saw the new Space Wolves models last year I was like this ;) , then this :P . So at UK Games-day 2009 I essentially bought my army (apart from a few drop pods). I intended on building them straight away but eventually they got stuck behind many, many other projects which the Inquisition has forbidden me to mention upon this most holy of Interweb Sites. So this will be where the Great Company of Sven Bloodhowl will be built, seeing as I now have free time and the rest of the models. Please don't ask for Army lists as I have at least 8 so far but here's a basic run down of the models -2 units of 10 Blood Claws -1 unit of 10 Grey Hunters -5 Wolf Guard Terminators -1 Venerable Dreadnought/Bjorn the Fellhanded -1 Wolf Lord in Terminator Armour (with many weapon options) -1 Rune Priest in Runic Armour -(at least)1 Drop Pod Currently I have the Blood Claws built and am beginning work on the Wolf Guard. Unfortunately, I can't find my camera and so I can't post the pics just now, but expect them before the day is out. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/ Share on other sites
S. Bloodhowl
Right, turns out that to find my camera, I only needed look. On with the pics... Blood Claw Pack 1: Close-ups: Blood Claw Pack 2: Close-ups: A sneak-peak of the Wolf Guard: I got him for £6 in an Auction at my local store :) I know the pics aren't the best but you get the idea, when they're painted I'll try for better ones. Tanhausen
TTUEILJA Translation (I liked your signature): To the untrained eye it looks just assambled. From the topic I expected some paint, or green stuff or some conversion... and maybe there is, but I can't see it in the pics. I like the termi model thou... S. Bloodhowl
Right, I said I'd have a squad ready by now but the week's been busier than anticipated, so I only got the test model done: Front Left Back Right As you can see I attempted some fancy electricity on the blade (to little of the awesome effect), although I am pleased with both the red and yellow, and of course the Armour, which took 3 attempts to get right! S'jet
Looking good. Only thing i notice is that the red on the left shoulderpad, i'd shade towards the rim, and highlight towards the top. S. Bloodhowl
By left I'm assuming you mean the completely red one. I just noticed that there and so I'll try to fix it when i redo the blade later today PS unless there are questions to be answered my next post probably wont be until the test minis squad is done, which could be at most 2 weeks, but I'm getting better at good looking speed painting so it may be shorter Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/#findComment-2424673 Share on other sites
S. Bloodhowl
Right, I am horribly horribly horribly late but basically real life and all it's distractions got a hold of me (damn pesky school :tu: ). But anyway, after nearly 2 months I finally got the first Blood Claw squad done! :P You'll notice I still haven't painted on the Great Company symbol and that the bases aren't done but these will be getting done when the army is finished. So without further stalling whilst I finish the last details adue here they are: Sorry about the bad quality of the pics but my camera isn't to good at close ups of small things and I struggled to get good lighting in my room :( I'm just of to start finishing of the 5 Wolf Guard and spray the, hopefully start the armour tonight and have them finished by Friday. I am gonna be working quicker now as I am on my summer holidays with nothing to do for 3 weeks and as motivation signed myself up for the Space Wolf Forum Painting Challenge. Till Later Fowlie ::EDIT:: getting the pic codes for other topic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/#findComment-2478658 Share on other sites

Debauchery101
looking great dude, i love the heated barrel of the assault cannon. it reminds me of when i was in the Marine Corps shooting M2 .50 cal machine guns at night the barrels get so red hot and it starts to have a red aura glow around it. what are your plans for basing? S. Bloodhowl
Cheers Decauchery101, yeah I just figured that if it's a chain fed gun, why would he have stopped firing since planetfall? :) I was pretty pleased with the end result of it so decided to stick with it. For the bases I plan on using that method of mixing PVA with baking soda to get a thick paste of snowy stuff. Or at least I think it's Baking Soda... S. Bloodhowl
Cheers SB that really means a lot to me, especially since both squads were painted in 4 days!!! Then again... S. Bloodhowl
Right, not much painting done other than my Grey Hunters at the moment. Really loved painting these guys for some reason, perhaps just cause it was a break from blood claws :D . Unfortunately I have yet to do the battle damage and so am not wanting to post them up just yet (don't like unfinished paint jobs). But on the modeling front I have been very busy building my Rune Priest and Venerable Dreadnought. The Rune Priest is just needing painted but i have decided to do him with the dread and so wont start him till saturday/sunday, but the dread is still WiP with greenstuffing and stuff needing done everywhere other than the torso. But enough of me blabbing here are some (very quickly done) pics: Brother Ancient Skeld: The claw... :D : Brother Rune Priest Thorvald: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/#findComment-2492394 Share on other sites

CaptainForge
I like the poses you have for the Wolves. I've had some trouble obtaining the desired pose. I found that some of the Space Wolves arms with weapons seem to be sculpted in an awkward way. Anyway, like your paint jobs and poses. S. Bloodhowl
I like the poses you have for the Wolves. I've had some trouble obtaining the desired pose. I found that some of the Space Wolves arms with weapons seem to be sculpted in an awkward way. Anyway, like your paint jobs and poses. Yeah, they can appear quite odd but sometimes they look great together, the way I find poses is just experiment with different arm and head combos to create a mini story for each models current situation (that and draw upon the multitude of action movie fight scenes implanted surgically into my brain :D ) It is really just a case of experimental dry-fitting. When I build a squad, I glue all the legs to the bases first, then glue the front and back of the torsos together. After this I get all the arms and heads I want to use in the squad (along with anything for weapon swaps etc) and then just go through each model one-by-one with some blu tak testing out the different combinations I think up until i get one that suits that model, sometimes going back to swap some stuff if I end up with duplicates. The most important thing is to make the pose look natural, make sure that the torso looks like it moving in combination with the stance of the legs, and make sure the arms look natural with the stance of the combined legs and torso. its best to put the head on last as this gives the most character to the model, the example I've put below shows this: With the model as it is, it looks like it is about to hack into an enemy with it's chainsword. But, were the head looking the other way, it would look like the model is preparing to receive a charging or shoulder barging an enemy. Hope this helps, Fowlie Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/#findComment-2493845 Share on other sites
S. Bloodhowl
Right then, my internet has been really slow this afternoon so it took me a while to upload these new photos. The good news is that Brother Ancient Skeld and Brother Rune Priest Thorvald have been greenstuffed and are ready for painting :D ! The bad news is that i did most of it this morning and so want be able to spray them untill tonight, which means painting will be posponed untill tomorrow :D . Okay so it's not really bad news but hey-ho, you get the idea. Anyway Brother Ancient Skeld has had the most work done to him with Greenstuff on both arms his body and his legs, as well as having 2 toes bent! So here are the shots of him:- Front (Raaaargh!): Close Combat Arm (with fur cloak for those cold Fenrisain nights :D ): Back (with converted exhausts, made from the Lascannon arm): Converted Twin-linked Heavy Bolter arm (Dakka dakka dakka!): Brother Rune Priest Thorvald hasn't had much done to him. He was quite simple to make and so not much green stuff was needed, although I have filled in some gaps and smoothened some rough areas. I also decided to make him slightly taller than my other Power Armoured guys by adding a bit of plasticard to the waist joint and used pouches etc to hide the gap.To show he has Runic Armour I decided to make a psychic hood from a spare shoulder pad and added some wires to his chest using guitar string. Enjoy:- Front: Left: Back: Right: (Curses! It seems I used up all my funny lines on Skeld... oh well) Comments and criticism welcome, Fowlie Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203019-something-something-space-wolves/#findComment-2493864 Share on other sites
S. Bloodhowl
I just want to be loved *Reasserts manly personality* I still haven't sprayed my latest builds due to crappy weather and plain laziness and I would really appreciate anyone who has any criticisms about them to voice them so that Ii can fix them if I agree.
