hermanista Posted July 1, 2011 Share Posted July 1, 2011 So, new proper project log time and with the juicy new mk2 Forgeworld marines out in tactical and assault variant, i thought id give something new a try. Since heresy era armies are becoming more and more popular, after discussion with some of the folks on The Great Crusade forums, i thought i'd go back in time a little further to the pre-primarch space marine regiments, when the legions were formed of Terran marines. It was also a time when the Emperor had only just begun his great crusade, and the regiments went by their original names. So, i present to you the Terran regiment of Dusk Raiders, prior to finding the primarch Mortarion and becoming the Death Guard. Though its a painting project at heart, I'm gonna try and bear rules in mind, using the Tempus Fugatives 30k expansion as a basis for inspiration, but making it 40k legal if i ever finally make it to the 40k throne of Skulls tourney. Initial plan is to get a decent chunk finished, so i can enter the armies on parade competition. Anyway, enough talk, everyone goes straight for the pictures anyway... hermanista Posted July 1, 2011 Author Share Posted July 1, 2011 they do indeed, I took the photo and then gave up painting for the night, at that point I hadn't decided on Dusk Raiders or White Scars, having slept on it I've gone with the first choice, so will be back to painting in a bit. hermanista Posted July 2, 2011 Author Share Posted July 2, 2011 cheers folks, @malika666 - i'm not sure yet, I might wait to see if Garro makes an appearance in the Tempus Fugatives campaign pack, and we'll see from there. Well, after not getting round to do any painting last night, only undercoating the first 5 tactical marines, I sat down and looked at the Sternguard Sgt I started painting and to be honest was fairly disappointed when I looked at him. I think the picture makes him look slightly better than he is, and really im not happy with the tone of blue/grey to white that I used. I think it worked on some Ultramarines I'd painted in the past, but for Dusk Raiders, it just doesn't suit. Now I would just throw him in my tub of fairy power spray to clean him off and start again, however, his arm and legs are failcast resin, and i've heard its not a strip-able materiel without going all rubbery. So bit of a dilemma there, shall have a think about that. This evening, bar watching the boxing later *Haye to win via stoppage in the 8th round*, I'm gonna find some old models and try some different white combo's to see if I can find something I prefer more.
