Alpha Legion. Purple?

This conversation could go on forever. You could say that it's so blue it's purple or so purple it's blue. GW may have even done that to throw people and make the Alpha Legion even more mysterious. How about we argue about whether they have green or a really ugly yellow as their secondary colour, at least then we'll get an outcome.

AL has had 3 different paint schemes since being introduced in 2nd Ed.

The purple armor thing started with John Blanche's drawings in the 2nd Ed. Chaos Marine Codex. It even states it is a purplish blue armor within that book. The proper color to replicate it used to be Nauseating Blue, which was discontinued a few years ago. If you wish to replicate it now, you need to use Vallejo's Game Color Dark Blue (it was called Sick Blue until recently), it's a perfect match for the old Nauseating Blue, and creates a striking unique color scheme for AL, not normally seen used anymore.

It's not blue or purple...

It has a name.

It's indigo.

The hex code for it would be #4710b5 which is "Moderate Indigo"

Go type that code into the newest version of the Space Marine painter. Alpha Legion color.

For the record, The Emperor's Children wear the Phonecians' Tyrian Purple ( the unique color the Phonecians made from the Purple Dye Murex). The original source of the terms "Royal Purple"/"Imperial Purple". (somewhere between hex code #66023C and #8F0160)

Any deep shade of Blue or Purple should suffice. I go for more of a blue hue (hehe) for my own AL force but as long as it is in the darker edges of these two colours, it's all cool with me. After all it's the Alpha Legion, it wouldn't surprise me if they all wore bright blue armour with a white 'U' just for kicks.

Perhaps this is an out of date comment, but I thought I would add to it.

I believe the color is Iridescent Blue. Meaning it is a dark blue from head-on but changes colors at different angles, depending on how light hits it. Therefore, it could appear green or purple as well, depending on the angle. They use this coloring on cars sometimes. Here is an example of it on a bead: http://www.abelmanbeads.com/store/image/ca...al1-400x400.jpg

Hope that helps.
