Purge; The heretics.

I decided that I have too many different armies and that I should consolidate my chaos army from 10ish years ago and my 13th company from about 7 years ago into one ultimate face-pounding force of awesomeness. After a lot of though(read: very little) I decided to do a Nurgle themed army. I'm planning on working on the army super slowly, but putting tons of time into converting and making each individual unique. My ideal goal for around 1850 points is 3 units of 20 marines, 2 units of 10 demons, and then backed up by demon princes, greater demon(forgeworld), oblitz and a defiler; somehow the points sort of work themselves out - maybe. It's just a start for now.

Update - Another marine painted.

Not sure if I'm liking the rust/dirt on the black, kind of distracts visually. Other than keeping it, another solution to make it work better would be to do the battle damage in the same colour as the dirt (dark flesh) on the whole model(rather than black on the green) and maybe that will make it look a bit better?

Update again. This time with a temporary lord. I'm going to convert up a new one from plastic down the road, but right now I'm just using this old stripped and repainted lord.

A quick update; I've finished 2 more marines. These were painted a bit differently though, as I wasn't 100% happy with the first few models. I've changed the 'rusting' on the green parts of the armour to be brighter; lining the cracks with dark flesh rather than chestnut ink. I also changed the battle damage from black to dark flesh. I'd like some input back; which people think look better the style of the first 3 models or the new two. The pictures were done a bit quickly, so I apologize for the lack of lighting and proper set up.

Update. Finished 1 Purge Marine and A WIP Punisher Marine for use as a mercenary in the campaign I'm playing in. The Punisher isn't 100% done, I need to fix up the free hand(especially the face tattoo) along with the browns and the base. Enjoy.

Two more models complete; I finished them both a few weeks ago but have not gotten around to taking pictures of them until recently. The squad leader is also finished now, but I don't have pictures of him just yet.

Aahhh, The Purge! I think The Purge is one of GW's better made warbands, these guys are cool! Equally, I think your version of The Purge marines here are brill! The rusted armour effect really stands your models apart, top stuff!

So it's been almost 4 months, and I finally have some new pictures. I've finished 4-5 Purge Marines since that time, and a brand new unit of 20 man strong Steel Brethren.

Enjoy

The SB's were done super quick, and the scheme was just applied on top of their old paint scheme. (which was 13th co. ) My question to you'ses out there - Should I add the rust colours like the purge so they better tie together visually? Or will that just muck up the clean - simplicity of the scheme?
