Lysere
Hello there fellow Crusaders. Today I will be officially starting to expand my Crusade in earnest. The idea for this army started back when I first picked up some marine figures. Back then it was an idea for a Codex chapter that had another smaller faction within it that took after the Black Templar. A couple months ago though I decided that the best thing to do was to actually just switch to Black Templar and rethink my fluff. So after modifying some marines, and bulking up my force a bit I began to reshape my army. --- Fluff --- The army itself is not a part of the Black Templar chapter, but they take after them in almost every way. (It is not confirmed exactly which founding or which chapter they came from but they are missing the same two organs that the Black Templar are missing) The bulk of the Chapter is called the Knights Ebon. They are merciless, and they favor close quarters combat just as their fellow Templar. After the carnage of the Geon Crusade however they formed a second faction within the Chapter called the Brotherhood of Swords. At that point the chapter began being referred to as the Templar Order. (The Knights Ebon was still the primary force within the chapter) The Brotherhood's primary objective is not truly known by most of the Imperium, but their actions have saved several systems even though they are small in number. While much about the brotherhood is unknown, it is known that there is never more then 100 battle brothers from the Knights Ebon within it's ranks. (This does not include commanders or some of the heroes of the Chapter) It is believed that there are about 140 marines in the Brotherhood, and there are several spots for chapter leaders from other chapters. (It is said the High Marshall of the Black Templar always has a spot on the Brotherhoods Council should he wish to claim it) (More on the fluff some other time) --- Modeling --- My idea on how to best paint and model my chapter has changed a bit from when I started. So I'll just show a few early pics of what I started doing, and how things are looking now. When I started I really wanted to do a white armor color, but quickly realized how hard that would be to do in bulk. Most of my detail work is entirely free hand. (I hate decals) This was my first marine ever painted. http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs26/i/2009/239/1/4/Knights_Templar_by_Firestorm_Delta.jpg http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs24/i/2009/239/c/9/Knights_Templar_2_by_Firestorm_Delta.jpg http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs47/i/2009/239/5/4/Knights_Templar_3_by_Firestorm_Delta.jpg After that I began trying black which was much easier to do the free hand work with. http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/203/9/b/Tactical_Marine_by_Firestorm_Delta.jpg http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/203/b/6/SM_group_shot_1_by_Firestorm_Delta.jpg Back then they were just a codex chapter with a Templar style color scheme. My first squad painted for Black Templar though was this one. The Chaplain has since switched the storm bolter for a power axe. Right now I have 3 main projects I'm working on. My Vow which has two models to do, a Land Raider Crusader, and Emperor's Champion, and I'm working on finding the parts for a cenobyte servitor that looks much like the robed figures in the picture of Helbrecht. The first one will be carrying a combi-flamer for my chaplain. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg34/Firestorm_Delta/DSCN0160.jpg I have much work still to do, but rest assured my vow will be finished in a couple weeks and posted up. Honda
I really like your LRC, especially the dozer shield. How did you do that? Is it a vindi shield cut in half? Cheers, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257272-knights-ebon-and-the-templar-order/#findComment-3130909 Share on other sites
Lysere
I really like your LRC, especially the dozer shield. How did you do that? Is it a vindi shield cut in half? Cheers, It's a dozer blade from the guard tank accessory sprue. Got it off my guard friend for some spare plasma and melta guns. I highly advise some kind of saw for that, took me awhile with one. If I do it again I can show a step by step, in my WIP thread. Lysere
Alright it's been a little bit since last update, real life being what it is I have had little time to work on painting. For now I have but a couple models I've finished, but only one has a picture at the moment. So one pic for now, and some more fluff to set the stage for some of the stuff that will go up next time. Emperor's Champion bearing the honored name of Vires. There is still a little work left to him. (mostly minor details) He is the model for my vow, and the LRC should be done in a couple days. (I will not let my honor be stained by failing in this) -------------------------- During the Geon Crusade that was pivotal in the forging of the true strength of the Knight's Ebon, the High Marshall at the time issued a vow before his battle brothers and their Grey Knight allies. "For every brother lost in this forsaken sector I will return the favor to those Chaos Filth 100 times over." High Marshall Vici of the Templar Order. Such vows on the eve of battle were not uncommon for the Knight's, but unlike previous crusades Vici set about carrying this one out in full. When the dust settled and the Chaos forces were finally beaten in Geon, High Marshall Vici gathered those brothers that had endured the terrible crusade and made plans to continue this vow beyond Geon. As plans were set for recruiting more warriors to fill the ranks of those who had been lost, Vici took 30 of his most trusted warriors and formed them into the first members of what was to be known as the The Brotherhood of Swords. Vici himself was appointed as the master of this new force within the chapter and so the title of High Marshall was handed down to his second in command, the now High Marshall Kevros set about enacting the recovery of the chapter as a whole, while Vici, now the Master of the Order, set about fulfilling his vow and set about gathering the brotherhood of swords. Many fear those who have made it into the lowest wrung of the Brother hood, (Known as members of the Court of Blades) but the 30 battle brothers chosen to serve as examples to the rest of the brotherhood are far deadlier, and when they take the field they turn the tide of wars. Though they are few, they are powerful, and skilled. They are entrusted with the ancient weapons that the chapter has gathered throughout their many crusades. Each weapon is renewed by Genero (The Master of the Forge for the Knight's Ebon) and blessed by the chapel. Their mission is to see to it that the vow that was sworn that day is fulfilled, and the forces of Chaos made to answer for their deeds. The many members of the Brotherhood aid them in this task, and see to it that the chapter as a whole continues to survive. Lysere
Well with some free time at long last I finished up my vow. Here are the pictures of proof of that. As of right now I am unsure what I wish to paint next, and real life might intervene for a bit. But rest assured the crusade will continue. No new fluff today, maybe next time I will be able to share the rules for one of my potential characters. Lysere
Unfortunately I do not have more pictures at this point. (Penitence Crusade is in progress) But I have not been idle, instead I have been fleshing out many of the rules and characters that are intended to flesh out the chapter as a whole. Instead of taking up this thread with a bunch of rules constantly I have started that in a different forum. Linky! I have several projects lined up which should be done in a couple days so by next week I should have a little bit more to show. On that note I now have several chaplains to work on, as well as some bikes and a brand new shiny Vindicator! The Crusade may be slowed, but never halted! Lysere
Okay so It's been awhile since I added more pics, but that changes now, got some old ones with some minor tweaks, plus my updated MoS, and an as of yet unseen assault marine and a WIP shot of my jump chappy. http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/256/9/4/ec_and_crusaders_by_firestorm_delta-d5ekinl.jpg http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/256/3/0/assault_marine_plus_brotherhood_model_by_firestorm_delta-d5ekiy3.jpg http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/256/4/c/master_of_sanctity_erus_with_termies_by_firestorm_delta-d5ekjea.jpg http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/256/1/0/land_raider_crusader__geon_crusade__by_firestorm_delta-d5ekjyn.jpg The blue helmets some models used to have are gone, and the assault marine is new. And as I mentioned my WIP Chappy. (For now will represent Erus when not wearing Terminator Armor) http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/256/7/9/erus_with_jump_pack__wip__by_firestorm_delta-d5eklae.jpg He is still WIP at this point, but he should be done in a week or two.
