p049979
So its been a while since I did the Ultramarines Honour Guard and I decided that I would give a Grey Knight a go. I did a terminator a long time ago but the Grey Knight variant is quite interesting and different. At least its meant to be terminator armour :wallbash: a lot is still just rough blocking in wile I play with proportions and the shape of the armour. I’m not following one particular source for the style but I am planning on having a small head big body proportion to it. All comments are welcome it still early days. As far as what people think should be on symbol and colour wise I'm open to ideas as well. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb300/p049979/GreyKnight.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/ Share on other sites
p049979
So I've been having a go at the helmet. I’m not overly keen on the basic design that’s just strait edges so I'm trying to add in small details and shapes to it. I’m not sure if I’m happy with this, its the 3rd iteration of it now and its defiantly the best but I feel like its missing something or something isn’t correct shape wise. Possibly something to do with the face plate. Opinions ideas welcome. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb300/p049979/GreyKnightHelmet.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3136504 Share on other sites
p049979
Quick Update slightly changed a few elemets and the rough shape http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb300/p049979/GreyKnightHelmet_01.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3136795 Share on other sites
p049979
So Ive started to texture the helemt. It still very basic as im trying to get a feel for the style. I dident want to have a lot of simple grey plates so Im thinking about detailing a lot of it. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb300/p049979/Helemet_02.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3141215 Share on other sites

Volfen
love the scroll work and eagle on the final iteration -- definitely on the right track :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3141238 Share on other sites
TheFacelessMan
The textures look sooooo amazing! However the size just feels all wrong. That helmet looks like it's made for Bruce Campbell's chin! The plates on the models beneath the eyes slope in a bit at a very slight angle. They also aren't as tall. If you look at the helmet top down, from the vent forward, it's an equilateral triangle. That might help the proportions a little bit, and lessen some of the space you need to fill in Edited for clarity Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3141598 Share on other sites
p049979
Thanks guys, Ive been playing with the textures a bit more, I did a quick test with a mix of text and scroll work, I think it looks ok. Ive also been playing with the colours again. I might try and go for more gold and red details. Again thoughts on that welcome. The bits that are gold would end up weathered as well. Worn off gold leaf kind of thing, so it wont look quite as shiny. Ill alos be toning down the scratches its looking a bit stone like now. I have played with the shape a little more as well. I was trying to go for something a bit more shapely than just the normal grey knight helm. Maybe I need to think about the eye area again. Im alos going to add more details I think its beginnig to feel a bit plain. Like it needs more rivets joints clasps and insignia and stuff. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb300/p049979/Helemt_08.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257682-grey-knight-3d/#findComment-3141841 Share on other sites
