Papa Lazarou
Hi allDecided to do a bit of re-roll on my angels, wanted to trick them up a little with a bit more of a angelic theme. So without further ado here is my begininngs on my libby, it's only got it's first basecoat as still awaiting more in the post. Will also add a few more blood angels icons and a pair of wings at a later date.c&c welcome and sorry about the naff pic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266633-blood-angels-blog/ Share on other sites
Papa Lazarou
Bugger, wrong section. Could we move this to WIP please.. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266633-blood-angels-blog/#findComment-3247310 Share on other sites
fivepointedstar
I like the use of the Castellen Crowe model as a Librarian, but the sword facing down, and bolt pistol crossed makes it seem he is posing for the camera, and not going to warp smash the :) outta someone. I'd say lose the BP, and do a left hand pointing or casting. And reposition the sword in the right hand to face upward in a ready to attack mode. Papa Lazarou
okay then, bit of a tweak on the model, now I'm not the best modeller and hacking up a finecast kit doesn't come to easy to me. I'm sure a drunken monkey could have done a better job but think it's better than it was, decided to keep the bolt pistol though because I quite liked it. Dont mind if it's too posey, after all they are blood angels! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266633-blood-angels-blog/#findComment-3252540 Share on other sites

Papa Lazarou
thanks chaps, will have to try and do justice to the model with the painting. Papa Lazarou
Hi all Whilst still waiting for my paint for the libby to arrive I thought I would crack on with the first half of an assualt squad. Just applied an earthshade wash (still a little wet) so next up is highlighting and selective wash into the recesses. All the models will be leaning forward eventually to make them look more aggresive. c&c appreciated. Adeptus-Alaska
I kinda liked the first pose. it's a bit more..........dramatic IMHO. the second is nice, and it's certainly gonna be easier to paint. but, the first pose is kinda saying, I am not afraid of you. kinda like a leader surveying the battlefield. just saying. the assault squad is sick BTW. Still have to go through and wash bits, doing it in a slightly odd order so things look okay and thing will look bad. c&c appreciated. furioso-prime - thanks for the feedback, completley agree with you bud, when they are based they should look right, i hope. ps. I take take it sick means good.... showing my age I know. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266633-blood-angels-blog/#findComment-3259429 Share on other sites
Father Mapple
I had my doubts when he was all primer black, but he looks really good painted up. Well done! I tried not to use Grey Knights bits making my jump pack libby because of how I worried about the "too Inquisition" look, but yours is great! Papa Lazarou
thanks for the replies, my red recipes is all gw paints done the an airbrush, hope this helps  Black basecoat 1:1 Mephiston Red/Abbadon Black - Light Spray Mephitston Red - 45 degree spray Evil Suns Scarlet - Slightly higher again Wild Rider Red - Light from above just to hit the stand out areas Gloss Coat - To help the wash flow better Argax Earthshade Wash - mix with a little bit of water Wild Rider Red Highlight Elf Flesh Fine Highlight (Do not do this hungover!!!!) 1:10 Crimson Carrsburg(?)/Water Wash to tie the highlights together.  Seems to work for the armour colour I want, I don't like a bright red.  Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266633-blood-angels-blog/#findComment-3274283 Share on other sites

Papa Lazarou
@batu Thanks bud, glad you like them. Airbrushes are a massive timesaver, I've only had mine for about 6 months but would never not use one for basecoating now. Okay, the stormraven is done and should have decent pics for you on monday. In the mean time it's full steam ahead on my furioso, all the basescoating and highlighting is done so on to detailing, I'm really enjoying this one. It's only held together with blue tac for ease of painting too. c&c appreciated. Pics are a bit brighter than the red is in reality.
