Emperor's Furor
The emblem I'm on about is the A with the chain across it, I'm wondering how to start it off. The base colour I'm doing it over is Indigo and I'm not sure if I should just do it directly in green or perhaps do it in a grey or silver colour and then apply the green over it and use the previous colour as an outline for the symbol. Any advice? I'm going for this style. http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110309013914/warhammer40k/images/d/d9/PreHeresyAlphaLegion.jpg http://warhammerworld.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/SEDITIONS_GATE_dustjacket_FINAL_CMYK.jpg
Sulemain
Their is something very creepy about that image. Not horrible or nasty. Just... creepy.
Spinsanity
Their is something very creepy about that image. Not horrible or nasty. Just... creepy. I suddenly have this weird idea that Alpharius/Omegon have some special power similar to Agent Smith in Matrix 2/3 (I know, these movies never eixsted, whatever...). IIRC, in Serpent Beneath, Omegon kind of imprints one of his legionaries with some of his own memories/ideas, right? As for the original question, that sounds like a very good idea; while my original odea would have been to go with a black outline, the silver is a very good idea and might pop even more (plus it lets you paint some of the icons in black instead of green for variety?). I'd say painting it in silver first and then again in green should give the best effect. I have a feeling, however, that grey wouldn't stand out enough... Excessus
I always had a love-hate thing for those massed legion images (where are all the tanks, lol?) http://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/59532600.jpg ...though it's a lovley example of Alpha Legion iconography! The boater
Their is something very creepy about that image. Not horrible or nasty. Just... creepy. Could it be because there are a number of legionaries looking directly into the camera lense? There is just something about breaking the fourth wall In a serious way that was always offsetting for me. As for the original question: painting silver first sounds good as long as that silver doesn't bleed through. The outline would look nice though. -the boater

That is eerie... I love that picture though. And yeah the outline would look good, like it does in that picture. Also it'll be cool to see some purple AL. Kizzdougs
Personally I'd suggest a really pale grey, something like Celestra Grey. I find that fine lines don't show up well when painted using metallic. Also, if you haven't already, check out the minis in the March of the XX Legion thread. There are some pretty cool AL colour schemes and insignia kicking around :)
