Still gotta go with my man Mark Gibbons' Black Templar concept art. It was one of a few key reasons I ever fell in love with the Chapter:

At least I'm pretty sure those are by Mark Gibbons. At any rate, I try to mimic some choice elements of his style when I draw, too. smile.png

Still, such a pity that so many of his designs never made it into model form. I may actually enjoy painting Neophytes if they looked like that guy.

Firepower - where are they from?  Pretty cool.

They're some of the drawings the developers used to design the Black Templars model line.  A lot of them were in a White Dwarf when their codex was released.  There are more than just the couple that I posted, too.

Greetings

This was my favourite image from the 40k universe for a long time, partly because the execution for the time was high quality, and partly because of the expressions of the two guys in the centre - aggressive, but not over-the-top. I also like the comedy "3D Roleplay" lie in the corner.

They look like serious soldiers (plasma pistol and initiate) who might be serious about winning wars, and know there are certain things they have to do to go about their business.

It really turns me off that unlike the John Blanche box cover featuring mostly bolters, the Armageddon army list was obviously written because the rules at the time made bolter troops (only one shot if you move) so bo

Like, crusading soldiers in this artwork are just amazing and they should replace the ultramarines as the vanilla codex focus. Why can't they be this?
