librisrouge
This model by Anvil Industries is about 2 cm too small on height, length, and width. Would this be a big deal to a lot of players? I really like the model, its closer to what I'd want a Taurox to be, but I don't want to invest in it if people would be too put off by the size difference, which seems a bit much. Thoughts? WarriorFish
That looks too much, especially on all dimensions as that's quite a significant difference overall. The scaling would look even more off than GW vehicles too so I don't think its a good idea. Kontakt
Some of us like the Taurox. It's much nicer to look at in person, than in the pictures from GW. librisrouge
I appreciate that some might like the look of the Taurox but I am not one of them. I owned one for a bit and sold it because I considered it hideous. I've been trying to find alternatives that I like since and if this were bigger I'd have ordered one or two already. GreenPlasma
This is my favorite Specops style vehicle: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/6b/87/ce/6b87ce363a954fb0d316967953a4111b.jpg I think it's made out of a LSS chassis, a Chimera back door and some other bits. I'd love to do something like this, but I don't know about the dimensions either. Guilloom
Using a 28mm Staghound model as a Taurox may be a good alternative http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-56-scale-28mm-WW2-STAGHOUND-Mark-II-28mm-Blitzkrieg-miniatures-/181792037735?hash=item2a53a65b67 I want this one for my rgt Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314568-taurox-alternative-and-size/#findComment-4191516 Share on other sites
RADU LYKAN
I am going to be using a wheeled chimera in place of a taurox, they haven't grown on me in the time they have been out so yeah, wheeled chimera it is Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314568-taurox-alternative-and-size/#findComment-4191525 Share on other sites

Carraigf
Agree with fish the Taurox is already a small unit with good cover advantages, 2cm of each side pushes that a bit too far. If there's any hope of winning you back to the ugly little fellas take a look at Zinge industries forest kit, replaces the viewports with armour plate and looks a lot more like the vehicle you first posted Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314568-taurox-alternative-and-size/#findComment-4191546 Share on other sites
RADU LYKAN
Carraigf, I have a chapter house kit sprayed, my disappointment with the fit to the chimera is shown in post 112 of my guard plog (sig link) Took some serious shaving and re-riveting but now it looks like a fast lightweight chimera which is what a taurox is rules wise Green plasma, that looks like a great place to start when I start kit bashing a Taurus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314568-taurox-alternative-and-size/#findComment-4191591 Share on other sites
librisrouge
Wow, that zinge industries does a lot to help that kit. I may have to find a way to afford four or so and run with it. GreenPlasma
Better treads will do a lot for the model too. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f6/e6/56/f6e6562afea6684770fef82771102133.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9div-2Cc1hU/VRh12C7CPEI/AAAAAAAADbE/L42SZoV-v_8/s1600/IMG_20150321_125409890.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314568-taurox-alternative-and-size/#findComment-4192136 Share on other sites
librisrouge
Despite the costs, and in part because of some gift certificates for my FLGS, I've taken the plung and picked up enough taurox (tauroxes?) and zinge kits to make two primes for my kasrkin. I'll be glad to give some pics and commentary on the kit but I have a good feeling about what it will do for that ugly pig box. WarriorFish
The correct term for plurals is Tauroxicuses I think. The stock model has grown on me thanks to some decent paint jobs (seems the GW team have a mandate to paint and photograph new models in the least flattering manner) but it's those tracks that do it. At least half-track it, that would have been cool.
