Uprising
Hello everyone I am wondering what bits are require to build these guardsmen(They are PDF for a knight house). Here are some pictures. What are your thoughts? If I can figure it out, I would consider making a regiment of them(That or go DKOK). robofish7591
They look like Tempestus Scions to me, just with a little extra details like the scales and the dragon on the shoulder. Mechanicus Tech-Support
Off the top of my head I'd consider using the sydonian dragoon rider head which matches fairly well to the picture (helmet spike, covered face) while for the carapace armour I'd use the scions model. Though getting enough dragoon heads for an army may be a little difficult. Aeternus
Scion bodies and legs, greenstuff the skirt, either skitarii or scion backpack, Stahlhelm death masks for the heads (maybe add a bit more of a spike) Of course getting hold of the Krieg bits might be a bit of a pain in the ass though. To agree with Robo above though, they are basically scions with skirts, a computer on each arm, and a fancy helmet and paintjob. You could alternatively just go for Anvil bits if the scion stuff doesnt work out - Legs (with skirt part, but not layered, also do static version), Torso http://anvilindustry.co.uk/image/cache/catalog/Regiments/Heads/stahlhelm-deathmask-sprue-800x800.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333439-house-varlock-guard/#findComment-4730331 Share on other sites
robofish7591
The scion box does come with one head with the spike. The 3d models above just appear to be more stylized than the actual minis. It is a very large spike... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333439-house-varlock-guard/#findComment-4730337 Share on other sites
Nicodemus Doloroso
Yeah, they look like Tempestus Scions with just a head swap. These heads would probably work: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/male-pickelhelm-heads-gasmasks-x10 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333439-house-varlock-guard/#findComment-4730339 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
The CG image looks awesome, but is your Regiment affiliated with the Alpha Legion in any way? The colors, the scales on the right pauldron, and the serpent on the left, all bring the Chaos Space Marine Legion to mind. The dragon and scales is based on the knight Solaria pilots. Alpha legion is a hydra not a dragon as well. Otto von Bludd
Wait these are from DoW III? Could we be looking at a future Guard model here? I don't own DoW III but I own the previous two and every unit in those games was/is a GW model. This would explain the aesthetic similarities to the Scions as many people have speculated that whatever models eventually replace the Cadians will be distinctly grimdark gothic in the same vein as scions... WarriorFish
They look cool, but as mentioned are mostly Scions. Maybe you could look at different shoulder pads but other than the helmet they're pretty much stock - so should be nice and easy to do ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333439-house-varlock-guard/#findComment-4733291 Share on other sites
BassWave
Anvil industry stalhelm with gasmask looks more accurate than the deathmask. Also from the same company, look for exo-lord medieval pauldrons. They look pretty close to the game model's shoulder pads. Slap those on a stock scion and you should be golden. Nicodemus Doloroso
I think the Victoria Miniatures Pickelhaube w/ gas I linked to mask is pretty much an exact match: http://product-images.highwire.com/12550906/pickelhelm-gas.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333439-house-varlock-guard/#findComment-4733370 Share on other sites
