Jackalwolf
So the new Primaris additions bothers me. They look just too damn good. With that in mind, I was hoping they'd release a SW kit eventually but with the Ultramarines upgrade pack being so... minuscule and without new torsos, I'm fearing the same fate might await the VI. So I've made a contingency plan on how converted Primaris marines would look melded with Heresy era FW kits: http://i.imgur.com/Uy6GxfB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KmAMzmN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/u6Ibdqo.jpg So what are your thoughts guys? Passable as Heresy mkiv artificer armor? I'm relatively happy with it knowing that worse case scenario I can still have a force of these bad boys looking like proper Viking SW. Grotsmasha
Don't get me wrong, that is a very cool model, but why not go the Tartaos/Cataphractii route, as their aesthetic fits the Heresy soooo much better? Ryltar Thamior
Nice miniature, and the un-helmeted [somewhat] Mk.III head is very decent to cap it off. Good use of the upgrade torso carved out to turn tthe Mk.X torso into something both more Wolfey and Heresy-era. Although I have to second what Grotsmasha said above - if you're wanting to emphasize the 'Heresy' vibe, then you should prooobably be using one ofthe more traditional truescale measures - either Cataphractoi legs for Mk.III [which would go very nicely with the grill and powerpack] or Tartaroi for something perhaps a bit more Mk.VIish. Definite scope to keep doingwhat you're doing iwth the chestpiece though - it's quite legit; although I imagine it's a bit effort-intensive as well. Where's that axe from? Dwarves? Very nice overall posing and use of the furry tabard also :D Like I said at thestart, this is a really nice miniature! MikhalLeNoir
Either what Grotsmasha says or you have to recut the legs and Torso and add some gs-work to resemble mk4. However: a very nice mini you have there Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337548-true-scale-heresy-era-space-wolves/#findComment-4842787 Share on other sites
apologist
Looks fantastic to me – a creative and well-realised conversion that reads exactly as a pre-Heresy Space Wolf. :) Eminently suitable for the Vlka Fenryka as-is, I reckon. Jackalwolf
Thanks guys! I didn't go for terminator legs since I'll also add Varagyr as Wolf Guard terminators in the army and want a clear distinction between power and terminator armor. The axe is indeed from fyreslayer dwarves. Bought a bunch on eBay. Ryltar Thamior
Fair comment about visual distinctiveness for Terminators ... but will they look large enough next to truescales if you go with the regular out-of-the-box ones :P We did a truescale VI Legion terminator based off Horus for my 30k bits and pieces not so long ago; although I appreicate that that's not necessarily for everybody [and would require a certain amount of owrk if you were goign to try and field a whole unit of 'em] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337548-true-scale-heresy-era-space-wolves/#findComment-4845736 Share on other sites
MikhalLeNoir
If you want truscale terminators I did a tutorial for converting tartators terminators. They are then a lot bigger than primaris but the scale is the same. Didn't try cataphractii.
