Apothecaries: How do you paint yours?

I recently purchased the Primaris Apothecary kit, I then did some kitbashing with it and the Ultramarines Lieutenant and now have a nice Templaresque character with a tabard drawing a sword, and a new Apothecary. (I may post some pics later.)

This situation got me wondering, how are people painting apothecaries? They are a bit of an odd unit colour wise in past books as they seem to shift between being primarily white, with black bits, (Codex: Armageddon, Page 20.) Or primarily black, with white bits, (Codex: Black Templars, Page 49.)

The insignia is pretty fixed, as per the BT codex, Red trim and red helix with a white pauldron. But the armour seems more up for grabs.

Thoughts?

I do mine mostly in black :

Elements of note :

- right shoulder pad shows apothecaries as sword brethren (as it is a duty that would only be entrusted to senior/veteran members of the crusade imo)

- left shoulder pad is the apothecarion helix shoulder pad (red trim, white field)

- casing of the narthecium is white.

- as much bling as possible to make the model stand out. This is a bit of rule baiting but some people will simply omit to target an apo by assuming it is a character.

Black Armour with White Pauldrons here.

I would have like to alternate that, but not confident enough with white.

However, as Medjugorje said, the new white contrast is really nice and I may have attempt it if it was out.

Haven't painted any Apothecaries for my Black Templars, YET, but my plan is to do them like how I did my Dark Angels Apothecaries:

So, helmet, shoulders, arms and backpacks in white, black armour, white robes. Red for the Apothecarion symbols (and also for the chapter icon, as Ciler's idea of Apothecaries being Sword Brethren is a cool one I'm nicking for my Crusade)

do you want to use the same color for your Black Templars?

More than likely, yes.

My apothecary and Gravis Apothecary Apothecary Biologis, that I converted up before it was cool.

Same as with my techmarines I do them predominantly black, but with some white detailing (just the helm?, maybe parts of the backpack). Which I see is the common thing to do here, so they're in good company.

Gonna change up some bits on my DIY Biologis with bits from the new guy, as its too good not to make this old conversion suddenly be legal for play. Also I always felt his base was lacking.

Not strictly a Black Templars answer but I go for the (very) old scheme where specialists like Libbys and Apothecaries just get Helmet and Trim in specialist colours while the rest of the armour is in Chapter livery. My BA Sanguinary Priest is an example. White helmet and shoulder pad rims while the rest is in red.
