  1. This is just not true, there's much more. The behaviour of Cypher mirrors closely the ways of the Alpha Legion, and his powers can only be explained by him being somebody way above a legionary since his first appearance after the Heresy. The Sons of the Hydra novel shows that the uncorrupted AL still makes deals with xenos, are secret loyalists playing both sides, Omegon was alive but has been missing for noboby knows how much time, and even ambiguous references in the introduction message by Omegon and the title of the end chapter ("Ouroboros"). The Watchers in the Dark fight against Chaos and knew Eldrad, so it follows that they also knew about the Cabal too. The idea that Omegon became involved with the DA after the Heresy it's not outlandish at all if we have in mind that he fights "for the emperor" and does things the most convoluted way possible. And this would have make contact with the Watchers inevitable. this seems to say the theory hinges on the idea that these traits are singularly possessed by omegon and only omegon in the entirety of the 40k universe, and that cypher can not possibly have overlapping or shared characteristics with other characters...so therefore he must be omegon. it's a theory that starts with a conclusion and then retroactively forces rationalisations to build a case rather than following the evidence .
  2. it's why scientists refuse to debate flat earthers. not because they're "afraid" or "disingenuous"....it's just...there is nothing to debate.
  3. i'm always fascinated by theories that use no actual evidence or specific hints but instead untilise vague similarities between things. consider me fascinated here
  4. i really like what siggy represented in warhawk. thematically i think what wraight did with him was brilliant. was he the only or best conduit for that theme? idk. i liked that bit from horus rising as well. but the character himself leaves me cold. there were just way more interesting people and events in the HH for me, but as i said, unpopular opinion.
  5. hyped for huron. character and writer i really want more of. cautiously optimistic for siggy. unpopular opinion: i think he's an absolute bore of a character but i want to find reasons to like him. pass on ahriman. i somewhat liked the first one and couldn't force myself through the rest. i just don't vibe it
  6. it goes hand in hand with council of truth by the same writer. reading them together, you get a pretty good idea of the twins approach to truth.
  7. can i just add that even in projects written by a dedicated team of the exact same 5 or 6 writers, a showrunner overseeing every meeting and every draft, a dedicated script editor and a dedicated continuity person (who literally just focuses on continuity) messiness happens. goofs abound. i can only imagine what it was like having authors come and go, changes in direction, editors and the like. maybe it could have been better? it could also have been much worse.
  8. Given we wouldn't have the Vth legion as we understand them now without Wraight's work, well maybe he is a fan. But equally he's a big DG fan too. Oh no! But maybe it's better not to look at a book like this a depiction of "sides" or "teams" - this isn't sport, but rather someone with a (big, PhD-minted) brain trying to thematically engage with their subject matter. yeah, the idea that a writer can't let go of a bias or favouritism for a faction or character is skimming close to insulting
  9. yeah, agreed the khan was
  10. just finished this, i liked it but weirdly, i didn't love it. i don't have much to add that hasn't been discussed here, though I think the
  11. fair, but i don't think you need reynolds or even sol to work the wreth-bomb angle into the siege. that being said, if they don't feel it adds anything, i'm fine with the writers not touching it.
  12. yeah, i actually liked that...they were conspicuous through their absence. i thought that bit with that EC was all the stronger and eerie for it and i imagine he wasn't the only one. but i'm like you, a novel where we actually see them get stuck into it is something i'd like to see. hell, i'd just like to adb's take on the third legion full stop.
  13. some arresting imagery that has stayed with me long after, like the blood angels going out to face the darkness and the ruin of one of them passing the torch to katsuhiro. beautiful and grim. in fact, katsuhiro was a highlight for me, though the other fact that i forgot he was in the book till about 3/4 in... is not great. too much meandering, not enough cohesion for this stage of the siege novels. i had to look for things to like in the book and there are plenty, but now that i'm reading warhawk at x10 the pace of mortis...the difference in enthusiasm is obvious. and to be clear, i'm not even sure i like warhawk yet. it's decent so far. mortis wasn't exactly a page turner, but the horror of the traitor titans and the emperor's children's garden was top shelf. 10/10 for mood 5/10 plot 5/10 characterisation
  14. i do like his take on how horus' fall should have been handled. his post on a heresy do-over:
  15. yeah, i don't think it's any secret here that i broadly vibe on what dc and roomsky are saying. that tidbit from LG...i mean...you can fit that on a post-it note. it's vague. qruze's story as printed more or less hit the marks of the post-it and little else. it would've been nice to have filled out his efforts a bit more, made him more of a feature of the loyalist efforts in the main story and maybe had him die somewhere during the siege. as it is, i pretty much skipped his entire contribution (as well as loken and garro's) and i don't feel like i missed much. also, how can they compare him to kup and not have the old wolf refer to petro rabbits? missed. opportunity. on the topic of LG trivia (and at risk of going too far off topic here) some more of his the first expedition posts, re aximand: i get the impression that aximand's fate, like qruze's was post-it noted well in advance and then not really explored or expanded beyond that. and: this was obviously posted pre release of the purge, but has sol even popped up in the siege books yet? what about his little daemon bomb under the palace?
